This song isn't about his daughter. It was written two years before her death and Is about the writer's Ex. However it's very possible that some of the lyrics could have reminded George about his daughter which could be why he chose to perform it. Particularly the part that says: "like a breath of spring she came and left". Also the timing matches pretty well. He starting performing it two years after her death where the memory of her passing was certainly still fresh in him and his wife's mind. Regardless, it's a beautiful song and George sings it very beautifully.

This song reminds me of the prettiest girl I’ve ever met, Lindsey. She has the prettiest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately due to my own stupidity I let her go, but I’ll never not think of her when this song comes on. Thank you George Strait for making the perfect song.
