I'm currently reading A master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark and it has an unexpected sapphic romance! Which involves, Fatma, the protagonist. The context? El Cairo. Could it be more Summery? Mistery, djinns, magic, murder, robots... it is good!
YOU MUST READ The exterminating Manuscript by Gema Clouds. A group of young folks decides to make their first vacation in the last year of college school, but they need money so resolve to simulate a kidnap. A fantastic modern unique epic tale.
I have a few of these on my list already but i definitely should dedicate a full summer to just reading romance, just to take a break from the horror and the thrillers for a while.
Oh I have many bc I'm obsessed with reading seasonally. Mainstream wlw romance: And Then She Kissed Me - surfer girl/teenage best friends turned lovers later in life Seasons of Love by Harper Bliss - two women end up in the same beach house, drink a lot of alcohol, and probably fall in love. I dnf'd it personally because the age and power difference was uncomfortable for me, but others might like it Desert of the Heart - slightly cheesy classic, age difference, late in life coming out Spec fic: Taming the Wolff - slightly problematic but hot pirates Branded Ann - more lesbian pirates, don't remember much bc I read it a long time ago The Mangoverse series - big queer cast/wlw romance in a tropical land The Abyss Surrounds Us - wlw ya about high tech mechanized sea monsters and pirates Summer of Salt - v sweet magical realism about love and friendship, feels like Practical Magic as a YA Thank you for this video! Adding several of these to my tbr 🎉

These sound all like great summer reads! I did read Delilah Green during summer last year and will always associate it with these summer feelings :)

I shall do the opposite tbh. If I don't make myself read anything else I just go back to romance automatically.
