    They seem like little tweaks, but when experienced together, it MASSIVELY transformed my setup. I am a very visual person and have very little regard for coding. So these little things just makes my life way easier, way more effective and I'm just over the moon with my system thanks to these improvements.
    Usually when some company "updates" their app, it's a pain in the arse to navigate the changes or even get used to them, but when Notion releases something new I'm immediately all over it, I stop doing whatever I was doing and just immediately implement whatever new thing they've just released. That speaks volumes to the type of company they've created and I'm happy to support them in their journey! I am eagerly waiting for that calendar update where I can sync my Google Calendar seamlessly without all the hassle of a third party app.

      Thanks, Oksana. I am surprised we don’t have recurring tasks yet since it has from the beginning been one of the very biggest requests. Perhaps some day. I find the basic workarounds to solve it for me, but I know there are many people who really want this feature. Some day I hope!

    Another useful database feature are the Relation property limits, enabling a one-to-many or many-to-many relationships.

    • @augustbradley
      @augustbradley  2 года назад

      I find that very useful for team use cases or shared templates, but haven’t found value in it for individual user uses. Have you?
      Seems to me in our own personal solo systems we know whether it should/could be one or multiple relational connections.

      @@augustbradley, in your system perhaps it could be used between Projects and Action Items; an Action Item shared among multiple Projects sounds confusing. Restricting Action Items as a subtask to a single Project improves clarity.

    The three dots are known as an ellipsis (when following a sentence or words in the English Language). However, they go by a different name when used in a software menu; when they are vertical they are called the kebab menu but when they are horizontal they are called the meatballs menu.

    I really hope they make a synced database views, means:
    If a database have already multiple views, and I linked one of theses views in another place, they sync whenever I change or modify the original one in the main database.
    This will really make a big difference and make our life much easier especially in the PPV system.

    • @danielemoyon9044
      @danielemoyon9044 Год назад

      You could achieve this by placing the database within a synced block and pasting this synced block (via it's URL) into other pages where you need to access it. Any changes (layout/view/filter/sort/etc) you make to the database within this block is synchronized in all locations where the database exists. Hope this helps.

    • @augustbradley

      We don’t have much control over Notion speed, as long as our internet speed is fast enough. I have not seen a slowdown lately and it has been quick for my uses. You might limit the size of your database loads through more filtering if you are loading huge database views.

    Hi August, I just went through all your videos & I'm hoping you can add clarity for me on a couple of things. 1. What's the difference between the Knowledge Vault vs. Pillars? It seems that both places are holding the same information. 2. I'm a physical therapist and have an exercise library for PT exercises: where would this go under? (Pillars, Pillar Support, Physical Therapy, Knowledge hub). I also think I made things a bit more complicated. I have databases for: exercises, movements, programming, workouts I've gotten from others all connected with a relationship. I also have content attached too as I record movements. I was wondering if there's a cleaner way to do this or roll up options you would add in? I would super appreciate your help! Thanks!

    • @augustbradley
      @augustbradley  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, congrats on your progress!
      Pillars would be just a dashboard view into other parts of your system-such as the knowledge vault filtered for the relevant pillar, or projects, or anything else. The actual information goes into the knowledge vault, and the pillars dashboards are not necessary. The knowledge vault is very necessary and goes into much more detail with granular specific breakdowns than pillars do. Pillars are merely for organization at the highest level.
      The knowledge vault is where the details and information actually go. For your PT exercise list, I think that would be worthy of a specialty vault specifically for PT exercises because it sounds like you have a lot of them and it's central to your work. So, create a database just for that with properties only relevant to it. Place it under the vault section of your database stack and customize it for your PT exercises.
      It sounds like all your databases for exercises, movements, programming, and workouts could be combined into one. That'll simplify and streamline.
      It takes time to figure it out, but it's worth it. You're on a great path, this is working. I can see it coming together, and it will get better and better over time. Keep up the great work!

    • @drallynelsondpt
      @drallynelsondpt 4 месяца назад

      @@augustbradley thanks so much for the insight. Any chance you would be willing to do an updated view of a pillar and what's connected. For something simple like Home as a pillar and how things are connected and the knowledge hubs that go to home? Would super appreciate it! Or if you have an updated reference outside of the content creation one. I have a couple of those specialty vaults for PT, fitness, cashflow, work, and medical. Those seem more detailed, but I'd love to see just a basic pillar like home or travel and how that's connected to each part of the system.

    • @drallynelsondpt
      @drallynelsondpt 4 месяца назад

      I don't have pillars connected to my projects, I tried to keep up with updating as the videos and rollups went on but I have that filtered by value goals. Not sure if you can see this but this is how I have set things up so far: whimsical.com/ally-s-notion-C2UtcVgVGWBRiAs7jsy8x2

    The Hold-Shift - Wheel - (Going Left-Right) , is one of those life changing lessons, like screwing in a standard screw bolt. "Righty Righty, Lefty Loosely" - PS: For those poor Sods still using Outlook (Not Gmail) - There is a super trick which I wish was available in Gmail(Sigh). The ability to change the Subject line of any incoming email! (Yes you could forward to yourself, rename, but creates problems-and duplication/confusion). You know that incoming email that's titled "RE:" Stuck in your inbox - Where you curse the original sender for not naming the thread correctly. This Super Power is available in all versions of Outlook even in 2001!! Just open the email in it's own window. Put your cursor on the subject line, and type away - this is written nowhere in the documentation for OUTLOOK. Now you can fix the original subject line and reply without losing or duplication. I wish GMAIL had this functionality.

    Progress bar view for numbers seems to apply only for positive numbers. Any suggestion on how to have a progress bar for negative to positive numbers for example from -5 to +5 which I use for energy or emotion?

    • @augustbradley
      @augustbradley  2 года назад +1

      I think the idea is for progress toward completion, so that doesn't tend to happen with negative numbers. But I agree your use case would benefit from a negative progress bar. Hopefully at some point Notion will add this.
