Hookipa Pharma Inc. (Nasdaq: HOOK) is a great example. While the market’s getting crushed, this stock did the exact opposite.
That’s what you want to look for - a stock that’s disconnected from the market. This brings fear and greed.

So, why was HOOK pushing highs?
The catalyst dropped Tuesday night. There was an amended, HIV-related agreement with Gilead. We love to see low-priced penny stocks (especially biotechs) tied up with a huge partner.
Circling back to that fear aspect: The scarier the disease, the more likely the stock will move.

Great video, thank you! You always explain things very well, and with this video, you put a name to something I've been seeing in some stocks, but didn't know it was a specific pattern! I was thinking of it as "shorts having to buy because it's not dropping," but I was only seeing part of the picture (day two). Your name works SO much better! I had HOOK on my radar, but I didn't pursue it. Then I saw Tuohey talk about it, and took another look. Maybe it was my personal timing (I do have a fairly busy job), but I never saw an opportunity for me to join the fun on this one.

I am a new trader and have been following this pattern since October 2021. LGVN, loved ISPC it made me 3k on day 2, CPIX; ISIG, NVC, BKKT. It's almost becomes a swing trade. There is another one; instead of holding the gains on day 1, it dumps and spickes back up close to previous day high on day 2. INDO made this move today when it dumped in the after hrs last night and locked 1k in pre market. I get out in pre mkt it can crash sometimes even before mkt open. Bkkt did this to me when I was up 2× and I didn't get out lol and I had to break even 🙃

I was curious, does the overall market being bearish have any type of influence on this type of pattern?
Not really unless it's really chopy
Based on many studies from Penny Stock traders. These type of patterns are very common within penny stocks and most if not all penny stocks are idiosyncratic stocks which means they do not have a correlation to the "overall market direction".
