Respect for the honesty! For me, I did not like Nobody and We Love You on their own, but once I listened to the album from start to finish, my opinion changed. Is it a weird album? Yes, but I like that it’s different and takes you on a journey.
Same thoughts. It was okay songs but my view about it changed drastically after hearing the full album.

@@Chainbrainthe part that is quote cringe is one of my favorite bits on the whole album that said there's nothing wrong with a negative opinion as long as it's honest.
I've been absolutely loving everything about the album. Especially Brooks. See a lot of people hating on it and that's fine, different tastes lol but some people calling it meaningless and a waste are just wild lol. People just love being in their own bubble and hating fr for no reason. Good album, and I love the rocksmith playthroughs as its nice to hear a different point of view with actual discussion about what they like and dislike other than just "me no like M. Shadows voice"
The Stage n this album os like TheRev still alive, they back to line, Brooks is d best drummer for this band.
The division on this album continues to fascinate me. Masterpiece imo

Funny enough, the album gets greater after listening to it on a loop. Then the songs get better by themselves.

Yeah dude I thought it would suck, but it’s some of their best material in my opinion.
This one is a bit more "tongue in cheek" with a splash of traditional metal.
No, the one that changes your life is "Cosmic". The centerpiece that holds the chaos together. Everything else is a disorganized mess, but you start to kind of get it by the end. I love this album.

This album took me a while to appreciate but now I think it's a beautiful piece of art.
It is a fantastic song, prob the best on the album. But to each their own. I recommend listening to it again and have the Truman show in your head when doing so. The lyrics make sense after that

"Cosmic" is as close to a music-induced psychedelic experience as I've ever experienced.
The problem with telling someone a song will “change your life” is that you’re setting the bar at the highest possible point and almost nothing will possibly reach that point and will be a letdown. It’s better to just say “I think you might like this song” and just let it go from there.
I actually really like the sound of his voice on this album, maybe even more than the past
I enjoyed his vocals on this album and the stage. Although the white album and Nightmare era vocals were his best imo

This song is perfectly fine. Nothing groundbreaking, and not completely off the rails like other songs on the album.

the trick with this album is listening front to back with headphones. in context, the songs work so much better and that then gives you an appreciation for the songs out of context. doing that made me like we love you and i really did not like that when it first dropped.
As a avenged sevenfold that knows how A7X fans can be just saying that it’s not your type of music might just be the best without getting flamed by all the hardcore fans

I don't find the song life changing, but the entire album itself with the topics it covers, and just as a whole did change the way I look at certain things in life

I've seen so much like this and that they are "so lucky to be avenged sevenfold fans". I love the band as much as anyone else but damn if it doesn't make me cringe to see and hear that stuff. People get far too obsessed.

I got put on reddit suicide watch by A7X fans on the sub reddit. All because I dared to rank this album second to last on one of their teir list posts.
They've kind of lost their minds over there and turned it into a pretty toxic environment.
Honestly I really like this album but I definitely understand not liking it. M shadows voice is sometimes odd but I find most the effects kinda fun. Sounds to me like they were having a lot of fun with seeing how far they can go with the effects lol. Personally it works for me.

This one is my personal favorite on the album. I'm not going to say this album is ground breaking or anything, there's definitely some strange points in it, but it's not straight ass the way some people think it is. It's just not the Avenged we remember, but that's ok. Overall, it's alright. I'll gladly go back and listen to some of the songs.
Im not the biggest fan of the new album, and thats okay. I respect their ability to venture out, and make some interesting songs. I will say as a guitarist myself though that Synysters solo on Nobody in my opinion is one of the best solos hes ever created from a composition standpoint. That solo was just absolutely beautifully crafted.

Edit: it would interesting to see you play and listen to Cosmic which is the best song on the album and definitely one of their best Songs. Although it’s not really metal or riff driven. Also your critiques on the song is valid, I like the vocal effects but a lot of peoples Critiques on this song are the Vocal effects/delivery.

Honestly at first I didn't really like much of the album at all and after sticking it out and listening to each song a few times they started really growing on me and basically each song has been stuck in my head at one point now. For sure an acquired taste album
And to the part where you said it sounds like he's on a megaphone, i'm pretty sure that was intentional for the lines being sang there haha

Love the honest opinion @chainbrain every tho it’s my favorite band I can agree that a lot of sound effects / vocal affects was really what was brining this album down. An it reflected on both of last two live shows where things we so hard to hear and things were overpowering each other.
This album is getting so much praise because sevenfold haven’t released anything in years, but honestly it just sounds like middle aged men trying to sound relevant to a young audience. It’s mediocre at best. And I am a long time sevenfold fan.

It's not awful, but it's not great... If I had to pick a favourite song from the album, I'd choose "Cosmic"... It sounds nice in contrast to the rest.
Im loving these comments, its either people really shitting on the album because they dont like it, or people saying "you have no music knowledge" because you didn't like it. Personally i found the album good, but not anything too crazy.

The album is different. It’s fair to see that. It doesn’t work for everyone. The concept of the album is awesome about everything being fake but the tracks just aren’t what normal metal fans or a7x fans expected. Loved all the other albums minus seventh trumpet. I probably would put this one with that one. Imo

I feel myself drifting more and more away from the modern metal scene.
This is my favorite album released in years, I think people have become so accustomed to the generic metal sound, even prog has become stale. It's the fact that this album is such a clusterfuck that makes it refreshing and something I actually want to listen to
Please explain to me what a “generic metal sound” is.
@CelticWish The over produced, 0-0-0-0-1 riffs, drum tracks set to a click track that aren't real drums. Guitars that are tuned low as shit etc. etc.
You could play me 90% of modern metal from any sub genre and I'd find it difficult to tell you what band it is

@CelticWish Yeah and it's the break from that which is what makes me want to listen to it because I'm bored of what 90% of metal bands are putting out. I'm sure there's some really cool indie prog shit out there, but finding it is the problem.
I'd rather listen to something where the production isn't huge, there are flat or sharp notes, the gear the band are using is shitty, but they take the music in interesting places rather than bands that produce something that they think people want to hear.
And this is where I feel myself drifting from the metal scene, because it feels like people just want more of the same, they want this huge mix and wall of sound. They've become so accustomed to it that new interesting stuff just sounds bad to them

Idk why some of A7X "fans" decided to start shitting in your comment section Chain. I like A7X old albums, but for me this new album is a mashup of everything, yet with no distinction. Its just dont feel like a whole piece, and Shadows sings like a grandpa. People say its a "masterpiece", when they just experiment doing random stuff that in my opinion dont connect, like modern art KEKW. Well to be fair A7X evolve their style with each new album, but this time i dont like it and dont dig it :D

As someone who has listened to every avenged sevenfold album on release outside of their first album... This is one of my favorite albums... But I will agree with you that the Tracks earliee in the album are the weakest. It definitely buiIds and I absolutely love cosmic and every tractor comes after it... Especially G

If this was developed as an instrumental without the short clean parts, this would be one of the best recent songs I've heard. With the vocals, this album is a definite and instant skip.

Yeah, I heard someone say this was a life changing album but this album seemed like a shit post. I listened to a good chunk of it and It was really bad IMO. Weird vocals, uninteresting riffs, odd musical choices which seemed random and haphazardly thrown together. Best I can say is it reminds me of SOAD which isn’t a complement.

Mattel is definitely one of the songs of all time. Don't get me wrong, Mattel is a great song. I love this song to death. That being said, people praise the new album waaay too much.
