- Tsukihiko never got a character song and God helps those who help themselves so I made one.
I, David Toth, did the comp and tuning and stuff and Gumi's singing obviously.
I tried to be clever and use Shinigami Record as a leitmotif at the end. I think it turned out okay. I also have a few references to my own lyrics for Shinigami Record, so be sure to listen to that on Will Stetson's channel if you haven't heard.
Lyrics:
Why in the world was I ever born?
Tripping, a stain on this earth
Coward, a monster, with pointed words
Fear is the lesson I learn
Silent, a soldier had went to war
Hatred consuming the world
People were dying at every turn
Truly the fate we deserve
And I wondered there in the grief
Why I lived in spite of the agony
As the bullets danced in the breeze
And the innocent were reprieved
Tell me, why in this world do we hate and murder with poisoned hands
For a love and a peace that we take away from our fellow man?
And the monsters come out at night
In our hearts, they eat us alive
Braving the battle, I left the grove
Useless to challenge my foes
Too strong to kill, but too weak to know
How I could save or atone
Then, I discovered a girl alone
Hiding from all of the woe
Quiet, enchanting, just like a ghost
Somehow as sweet as a rose
And I wondered there in the peace
If an angel truly had come for me
As she told me I could be me
And my heart was finally free, tell me
Tell me, why in this world do we love each other and join hands
When the hate and the pain is all surely bound to return again?
And she turned to me in the light
Was it fine that I had survived?
In your heart, you cry out to die
So I’ll take your hand here in mine
Ah…
Count up all the sins in your never ending life
Throw them all away when I’m standing by your side
“Hate me, I’m a monster,” that’s really all a lie
Watch me, I’m looking in your eyes
Maybe I don’t know all the hate that you have seen
Maybe it’d be best if you turned your back to leave
But I see a heart that is longing to be free
Smile and come follow me
Imagine how great it would be

AHHHH THAT WAS AMAZING!! Tsukihiko absolutely deserved his own song, and you did him such justice 😭 Love the Shinigami Record motif and references, that makes the song even more beautiful. I’m really happy that you made this, thank you!
We needed this in the kagepro fandom
Aw. How wholesome. The composition and lyrics were amazing dude! Man just straight up roasted every war in existence in the middle. This is really beautiful; would love to see Will Stetson cover this!

Truly the apex of composition, mozart would be jelly 😩
I didn't see anyone make like an explanation of what hitoribocchi and like David said, God helps who helps themselves, so
anyways i had to google it because I'm not japanese or smart, and apparently it means "all alone"
So basically I think the title's supposed to mean Lonely Cradle or something similar. Overall a beautiful song and an equally meaningful name. It sounds so calm and mellow, I think it really did him justice, and I wish Jin gave him and the minor cast more attention, since most of the lore is really just everyone's tragic backstories tied to the days leading up to the 14th - 15th of August, and some of the years between,, which I think Kageou Project struggled a lot with as a series since they had all of it's events happen during that one day without little buildup or time focused on the characters individually in the present. If it was intentional, like to outline the fact they had no future in that world (together), I could see that too.
Overall, I wish I'd seen this sooner. Thank you for writing a song for him, it's so poetic and,, I love it.
Love this!! Also, another thing to add to the title, the first line of Shinigami Record is “Sonzai no imi o kangaeta/
Hitoribotchi no bakemono wa”. Within the song, Azami is referred to as “hitoribotchi no bakemono”, roughly meaning the Lonely Monster. In the second part of the song, she’s only the monster, as she has Tsukihiko with her and isn’t alone anymore. So Lonesome Cradle’s title is also a nod to Tsukihiko’s love to Azami, as they were both all alone before finding eachother

Actually, this sounds really good!
