    Great walkthrough and detail!
    The only thing that may be good for first time builders to know is to make sure the cam caps go on properly so that the oil journals line up with the feed.
    Can’t wait to see what’s next.

      Good call on the caps!

    I understood less than 1/3 of this but still find it interesting that individuals know how to do this kind of stuff.

      If you get into rebuilding a head yourself a lot of it will make much more sense!

    So you use the 2.8 intake valves, 2.7 exhaust valves, and a 2.8 exhaust camshaft?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  Год назад

      I’m running 2.7 intake and exhaust valves, and both cams are 2.8 as well as the head itself.
      You could run the 2.8 intake valves but the ones I took out of the 2.7 seem identical and were in much better shape.

    The cam cap doesn't sit flush, yours is installed correctly 👍🏻
    As for the two types of cam seals (teflon and rubber), shame on you and I don't know how you'll sleep at night but hey it's your car. 👎🏻
    Good thorough video though! Can't wait to hear this engine run.

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 года назад +2

      Since I have to take the front cam cap off to spin the cam on the chain, that seal will come out easily, I'm thinking I might throw the Elring one in when I reassemble. That way YOU can sleep at night. Hahaha

    Great video! Very informative.
    I have been having trouble finding the socket to use on my bolts. Did you use the 9mm or 10mm Ribe?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  2 года назад

      If you mean the nuts on the cam caps and valve cover they should all be 10mm socket

      Actually referring to the head bolts but I got the info I needed. And a few extra tools. Thanks again!

    Did you show modifying the intake manifold in another video or did you use a different intake manifold?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  2 года назад

      I’m working with a local machinist to enlarge the intake manifold. I’m hoping to come up with a CNC program so it’s reproducible for others.

    Any reason to not put the new cam seals on the cams before you torque down the cam caps? That's what I'm planning to do.

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 года назад

      I couldn’t find any reference in the FSM to doing it that way, only doing it with the caps already installed. I wonder if have the seal in place before torquing down the caps might keep them from seating square on the head.

      ECS Tuning has them, and Integrated Engineering. Or just search SPRK-AUD27T

    Can we put the 2.7 cams on the 2.8 head ?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  2 года назад +1

      You definitely can but they’re less aggressive, so it might defeat the purpose of the 2.8 heads. A lot of people run the 2.8 cams in the 2.7 heads for some gains.
