ODD SIGHT: Water cascades from top of Philadelphia's One Liberty Place

- An odd sight in the heart of Philadelphia caught the attention of neighbors in Center City Sunday, while sparking countless comments on social media. A steady stream of water was seen spraying from the side of One Liberty Place in video captured by WHYY's Billy Penn. Authorities tell Action News this was an annual test of the building's fire protection systems.

Finally something to comment on that I know something about...........I was the designer who worked for the contractor who installed the Fire Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems in both Liberty 1 and Liberty 2 skyscrapers. Without divulging anything too specific (for their security), I will tell you that there is a FIRE PUMP on one of the uppermost floors of the building that requires an annual test, during which you are required to discharge a design flow of water. This is obviously what is happening here. I was unaware of this video until now, almost two years after the fact!

@@jamesrichey5334 I can't comment on whether or not they flow test the fire pumps annually at liberty place, but i can assure you that the code requires it. See NFPA pamphlet #25 (2017), section 8.3.3. that's the fire code in philly relating to annual fire pump testing. you can strech that out to every 5 years (in philly) if you don't discharge water during the test (flowmeter). So i'm curious about a) your credentials to comment knowledgably on the subject and b) what your explanation is for what's shown in the video. or are you just trolling?
