Shreiker will try to spawn the warden but can't due to the water. Since there's already summoning attempts, none of the other shreikers can also summon the warden at their locations. The chunk loader is just to keep it rendered so you can go throughout the city without the machine stopping.

I have a friend who's playing a modpack in 1.20 and his castle is dangerously close to an Ancient City, and he's the kind of guy who absolutely fears the biggest, beefiest mobs like Ravagers and Wardens. built this after 20 minutes because i wanted to find all of the armor trims and was preparing to raid 10 or 20 ancient citys for the silence... Found it in the first chest i looked :)
If your world has an ancient city right beneath spawn (that also has shriekers that can summon), you can build this and not have to make the chunk loader. The first 128 or so blocks (8 chunks) around 0, 0 are always loaded at all times. I've also utilised this space for having 70 zombie villagers trapped within spawn chunks to disable mob spawning in the overworld
@@Nathan.Christie They don't apply to the limit because mobs carrying player dropped items can't despawn anyway as a QOL feature, been like that for years specifically to prevent circumstances like dying to a creeper, and having a zombie pick up your S tier gear and then despawning with it.
Note for anyone stumbling across this: Default spawnchunk radius is reduced to a 3x3 chunk as of 1.20.5. (or 2 spawnchunk radius.) to improve load times and lessen lag. And just remember any redstone or entities you put in the spawnchunk will be ACTIVE at all times, which can cause lag. (unnamed mobs also counts on mob) cap) So if you're putting your cow farm there or your double chest storage... it might not be the best idea.
Note that if the minecart doesn't come out of the overworld portal on the right side, (for example the netherrack is on the south and the minecart comes out in the north side) you could solve this issue by simply moving the netherrack on fire to the other side.
On version 1.21, and it took me a while to get it working, but it's great! I've learned how the farm works: The piston is repeatedly activated with the sculk sensor, and it is infinitely active if the arrow is there. The arrow will not despawn because it constantly moves, unless it is an arrow from an infinity bow. On several occassions, the warden spawned but that was because I was too slow to destroy the wool. The wool inside the floor is very important and should be broken last, because that is what separates the sensor and shrieker. The darkness effects and warden noises are still being activated but they are of no harm if you simply back away. The chunk loader may break after you leave and rejoin the game, so make sure to refresh/fix the dispenser in the nether side of the portal. (I also tried this on bedrock edition, didn't work, sorry!) Great tutorial btw.

If your minecart is not going into the overworld, make sure the coords are correctly translated. If the number is positive, when dividing by 8, always the round the answer down (11.7 would turn to 11). If the number is negative, when dividing by 8, always round the answer up to the more negative number (-13.4 would turn to -14).
I found an easy way to kill the warden with a bucket of water and a bow. When the warden comes after you, run down a narrow corridor and dump the bucket of water in the middle of it. The water will flow in all directions. Make sure you are on one side of the water and the warden is coming from the other side. He cannot cross the flow of water (but will keep trying) so just stand back a distance and shoot him with your bow until he dies. It's good to have a fully enchanted bow to kill him faster, but still takes many shots. Note: Mocking him as you shoot him adds to the pleasure of taking him down.
@@aniketsrivastava1870 Yes he can. But he doesn't. If he's at the waters edge, he tries to fight the current. He only uses his sonic boom when standing still. Therefore, he won't do it. Try it out. I came across this accidentally where the ancient city was heavily flooded. He gets stuck at the waters edge. Then I tried building a water trap and he gets stuck at the waters edge but he will keep trying to get through.
Didn't work for me in 1.20.4, I double checked the entire build but the warden is not only able to spawn inside the "trap" zone, but also everywhere else in the city...
Just to note when you log out the chunk with the warden diabler becomes unloaded so you need to reload it to be safe so never log out in a ancient city, almost lost my 250 day hardcore world in there
@@catarinayikake4820 In one of the ruin chests, i suggest you look your seed up and search in cities that are adjacent to other cities, it makes it considerably faster
I had issues with this as Wardens were still spawning, but a couple things i changed made it work (Java 1.20.2, Paper SMP server). Warden was still spawning in the water. Instead of water, I added a layer of slabs across the 11x11 area. Only water I kept was the waterlogged chain (which due to the slabs kept the water in that 1x1 space). I also used a different chunk loader which was designed to work on a Paper server - it uses droppers and boats, instead of mimecarts.

The chunk loader doesnt work properly (1.20.4 paper server) and when i was at the warden switch. A warden spawned above me (came from blocks above the switch (i ran to the chunk loader portal faster than ever) Edit: this chunk loader doenst work on paper servers, so i just built another design and the warden can also spawn on blocks above, thats why it spawned, but i built the machine in a not that tight deep dark the second time so i cant Tell you how much blocks above you have to remove
Built it correctly twice but didn`t work.. I tested triggering a shriker next to the build and still summoned the warden. Only detail is I removed a shriker to place it at a flat area. Does it matter? Is that the reason why I cant make it work? EDIT: Realized the shriker CAN NOT be placed. It HAS TO BE NATURALLY GENERATED/SPAWNED
No idea why but went like 400 blocks away from ancient city to another deep dark and wardens spawned, didn't die but very confused, chunk loader is still working and arrow still going up and down, wardens dont spawn in the ancient city i build the switch in still, any help?
SO! Just an FYI, this contraption DOES WORK with bubble column chunk loaders! (at least as of 1.21.3) Now, instead of building the whole portal machine, you can just throw an ender pearl into a bubble column to make an even simpler chunk loader! Just build it somewhere in the same chunk as the switch, like above it! Just not TOO close as to affect the switch. You can check for chunks on Java with F3 + G !
Bro the arrow is for trigerring the shrieker and skulk sensor, So that the warden will not spawn by water logging in that area. And the warden can't spawn in entire world as long as chunk is loaded
Doesnt work for me in 1.21 - I didnt use infinity bow the arrow is there and doesnt despawn - Portal is in the same chunk and the loader seems to be working - I restarted the chunk loader after restarting the game but the warden still spawns after sometime in other places Any ideas what the problem could be? Im on Java
But does the warden attack? I’m in the dark and have the same over and over and I can’t see if there is a warden ( I’m the scares easily type of player )
@@maitsowlol2797 yes, you will, and see darkness, but this happens before the warden appears, and he cant appear because of the water, he cant spawn in water. But you will get all the warnings hes coming, incliding groaning, and darkness. Just leave the area. And take a breath, if you built it correct, youll be safe.
Made this and it works on 1.20.6! Just make sure that your protal is correctly aligned and you may need to shoot a few arrows before you get the sweet spot. Make sure to round up when translating between overworld and nether coordinates.

well had about half the succes with this, it works in one ancient city in my case, but in the other one, not so much, I went back to check if there was anything wrong with the switch and it seemed to work flawlesly, nothing with the chunk loader or anything. Might be something to do with realms I guess.
arrow keeps de spawning, sensor wont set off shrieker. i'm on bedrock edition so idk if that matters edit: added a bunch of sensors right next to the shrieker, working much better but other shriekers with still go off from time to time. arrow still de spawning whenever i walk away though

Does you know how the per-player mechanics work.? I have made one that works for me, but a secondary contraption is required for another player. Does he actually have to build the thing, or can I build it for him? Is each contraption tied a specific player, or does it work simply by amount of contraptions in the world, and amount of players in the server?
Okay i got a question: i fluffed up somehow, and the shrieker spawned a warden, probably under the platform since i found a neat shrieker in a cave. now he is stuck there, since he keeps getting mad at the arrow. but since there is a chunkloader, i still should be fine exploring right? because it cant spawn another warden anywhere else. right? i´m on a paper smp btw
whether a warden is present or not doesn't matter. The reason this is working is because there is a global player cooldown of about 10 seconds for shriekers. They cannot go off more often than 10 seconds, and the warden can only spawn in a certain radius around the shrieker that went off, not the player. You could technically not spawnproof it at all, but unless you turned it into a warden farm the chunk loader would eventually crash your game (or at least function as a hard mob switch where nothing could ever spawn because the warden filled the cap, not sure if he operates under a different cap). This machine is timed to make the shrieker go off at exactly 10 seconds over and over, so it is impossible for you to activate any others, and thus impossible to summon the warden - it essentially makes it so that one shrieker is the only one that exists in the entire game (for you). The Warden being there just makes it dangerous to come back and mess with.
just note then if you leave the game the warden switch stops. so whenever you join back and want it on just going back in the nether turn the switch off and on (mabye reset the cart) and it should be working again
You're better off doing it with Azelea since they are pretty much uniform and the leaves can be turned into bonemeal to have the machine be self sustaining.
@@MEEP5783 pretty sure dark oak wood farms are really hard to make compared to other ones. You're better off chopping a bunch of dark oak trees down instead of making a farm...
Playing on version 1.20.4 and did everything like the tutorial, the warden spawned outside of the 11 blocks range. The only thing I did differently from the guide is building a walls and a roof because I was worried about the bats messing up the process. The warden spawned outside of these walls. Any solution or advice?
Guys idk if this is a problem only in my world but i recommend loading the warden switch every time you enter your world(if you are going to make use of it ofc)
not working in my 1.20.4 world, made the machine and it worked fine in the ancient city I made it in, and then it stopped working upon entering another separate ancient city. Not entirely sure why
If on a papermc server, this basic nether portal chunk loader will NOT work! There are a few designs on reddit I've seen for older versions, but I haven't tested.
Has to be the same chunk. Since the "chunk loader" is designed to keep that chunk loaded in at all times, which is how you spoof the shreiker while blocking the warden spawn.
in 1.21 it works really strange like it works perfectly until suddenly random sensor triggers shrieker which actually this mech meant to prevent from. i never go to the nether, always stayin in overworld, i dont logout or such. I just load the machine go fly to an another AC making noise around shriekers for 5 minutes without triggering them, after - sensors and shrieks activate... somewhy
so the chunk was loaded, i couldnt figure out the chunk loader because the portal wouldnt match the coordinates bec i was in the basalt deltas, anyways the chunk was loaded and i explored the end city with confidence then the warden spawned and now im dead, soo it doesnt work in 1.21
I have done this, when I started the warden switch by shooting an arrow into the piston and then remove the wool (including the bottom one), the sculk sensor activates the sculk shrieker but I don't get the warden blindness effect, when I tried to explore the ancient city, sculk shriekers went off and I got the warden warning, my ancient city is right below spawn so I thought that I didn't need to make a chunk loader. Did I do something wrong? I am in a singleplayer hardcore world.
You need to make sure there's no spawnable spots within an 11x11 area (hence the specific placement of water and have the shrieker you are spoofing be constantly activated. If one of those conditions isn't met, then another skieker can summon the warden.
Messed up the first time bc the water had blocks above it so Warden spawned had to risk my hardcore world trying to get the Warden away from those blocks so i could remove them and when i did it worked and found silence armor trim, ward armor trim a enchanted Golden apple on my 2nd ancient City or first bc the one i was in was already raided by me

your chunk loader failed, then. The point of the chunk loader is to make sure that this shrieker is constantly being 'detected' by Minecraft, and so even if you don't see it, it's constantly going off. If you don't do this, as soon as you're a certain distance away Minecraft stops rendering that chunk (so your computer doesn't light on fire keeping every part of Minecraft you so much as glanced at active, essentially) and it no longer remembers what's happening with that shrieker.
@@Thedarkbunnyrabbit I had A worse problem. It didn`t even work at the ancient city I built it in. And I tried to build it twice. I tested on a shriker only a few block away from the build and ti summoned the warden.
@@eduardosegatto8424 There are multiple possibilities here, but the most likely ones are that you somehow built it wrong or you are either in a mod pack or server which is tampering with either how you machine works (like blocking redstone clocks) or how the warden spawning works.
Thinking about it, it probably would only activate for one player and the rest wouldn't register, so yeah.. multiple contraptions are probably required, one per player.
For those who this doesn't work for them : You shouldn't let the sensor to sense the piston movement, because it doesn't count as a player action and doesn't activate the shrieker and prevents itself from sensing the arrow. So you should make it so that it only sense the arrow. You can do this by putting a sensor on the ground level (the same level as shrieker) and putting the piston one block lower and putting a wool block in the same level as piston, between the piston and sensor that is on the ground level. This makes it so that sensor only senses the arrow. For piston you need to use the double observer trick (or any other redstone repating signal without sensor) that constantly activates and deactivates the piston.
If it only works for the player that shoots the arrow, wouldn't it be fine to fire multiple arrows by different players? Or how does it work? Edit: i have read other comments after i write this, so I know now.
I edited: finally I can make to work, I forgot to make the floor complete spawn proof. I have a small space where the warden was spawn. I build it this in Minecraft 1.21 and is not working, the warden is still spawning.
Because the item is changing states - from a falling arrow to being stuck in the piston - it will never despawn. This trick is also used for things like arrow fountains.
Mine isn't working, I'm in 1.20.4 and I went near a shrieker (not the one for the switch) and it spawned a warden instantly, however no warden is spawning near the switch. Edit: Turns out I think I just got really unlucky with in the split very short seconds where the piston or arrow isn't moving where I spawned the Warden in as I have managed to fly around and land near quite a few shriekers now without a warden spawning.

Works on 1.20.1 forge but i learnt something the hard way if you try to add another player to it after the disabler is activated then it wont work for them
Its kjnd of annoying dealing with the darkness that comes with shriekers, but make a lot of night vision potions, and it wont matter, other than the annoying sound...
I cant find a shrieker that has a suitable place to build this. Either they are too packed up in a place or either there are way too many shriekers in one place
Does not work, other shriekers still spawn another one. It's not limited to 1 warden per player, a player can summon more. Also, a bit of critical thinking needed from your side man, you want us to clear an 8x8 area, but need water to cover 11x11...
Works for me. I build another one in other ancient city for my friend. He came and shoot his own arrow. It works for me everywhere but not for him. I tried to turn off my machine and I even disconnected to make him the only person with only one machine running on the server but it still won't work for him. Any solutions?
i build this, and i am so confused, sometimes it works without any probelms, but other times shriekers just dont shriek half the time, idk what i can do to fix it, the problem might be due to the server, maybe building a second one would help.
Not sure why, but this isn’t working for me. I’m in a realm…seemed to be ok close to it, but when i ventured further, a warden spawned and obliterated me ☹️
So i build this, but after like 7 minecart placements it stops working. It destroys the minecart, but it doesnt teleport from the nether, or it doesnt get picked up by the hopper minecart

How'd you get the arrow to go straight down? Mine kept having an angle and going into one of the other blocks even if I shot it straight down

I love that it only works for one player. Now you could have a warden defending your base in multiplayer servers which is super badass

Built it correctly twice but didn`t work.. I tested triggering a shriker next to the build and still summoned the warden. Only detail is I removed a shriker to place it at a flat area. Does it matter? Is that the reason why I cant make it work?
EDIT: Realized the shriker CAN NOT be placed. It HAS TO BE NATURALLY GENERATED/SPAWNED

it depends of the simulation distance. If it's inside simulation distance it will work
have a chunk loader so if you plan to explore other cities you can use this already finished set up instead of building a new one on site

No idea why but went like 400 blocks away from ancient city to another deep dark and wardens spawned, didn't die but very confused, chunk loader is still working and arrow still going up and down, wardens dont spawn in the ancient city i build the switch in still, any help?
its the chunk loader, it stops working when I relog into the world, you have to go through the portal to start it back up

SO! Just an FYI, this contraption DOES WORK with bubble column chunk loaders! (at least as of 1.21.3)
Now, instead of building the whole portal machine, you can just throw an ender pearl into a bubble column to make an even simpler chunk loader!
Just build it somewhere in the same chunk as the switch, like above it! Just not TOO close as to affect the switch. You can check for chunks on Java with F3 + G !

So that the warden will not spawn by water logging in that area. And the warden can't spawn in entire world as long as chunk is loaded

- I didnt use infinity bow the arrow is there and doesnt despawn
- Portal is in the same chunk and the loader seems to be working
- I restarted the chunk loader after restarting the game
but the warden still spawns after sometime in other places

Just leave the area. And take a breath, if you built it correct, youll be safe.

Made this and it works on 1.20.6! Just make sure that your protal is correctly aligned and you may need to shoot a few arrows before you get the sweet spot. Make sure to round up when translating between overworld and nether coordinates.
A few arrows? I've shot 10 stacks and cant make it stick! (no, not using Ifinity Bow).

well had about half the succes with this, it works in one ancient city in my case, but in the other one, not so much, I went back to check if there was anything wrong with the switch and it seemed to work flawlesly, nothing with the chunk loader or anything. Might be something to do with realms I guess.

arrow keeps de spawning, sensor wont set off shrieker. i'm on bedrock edition so idk if that matters
edit: added a bunch of sensors right next to the shrieker, working much better but other shriekers with still go off from time to time.

If you use a infinity bow, infinity arrows despawn !! So do NOT use an infinity bow !!
Thanks for including the bit about multiplayer. I figured it’d be that way. But I have a question. What if my definitely real friend shoots an arrow onto the piston too? Would that work? I take it no. I’m guessing it’s a shrieker thing, where each player has to have a separate shrieker activated for no wardens to spawn. Okay i got a question: i fluffed up somehow, and the shrieker spawned a warden, probably under the platform since i found a neat shrieker in a cave. now he is stuck there, since he keeps getting mad at the arrow. but since there is a chunkloader, i still should be fine exploring right? because it cant spawn another warden anywhere else. right? i´m on a paper smp btw
It will still work, but idk if it will rly work on that server, since alot of players can see what u build and destroy it
whether a warden is present or not doesn't matter. The reason this is working is because there is a global player cooldown of about 10 seconds for shriekers. They cannot go off more often than 10 seconds, and the warden can only spawn in a certain radius around the shrieker that went off, not the player. You could technically not spawnproof it at all, but unless you turned it into a warden farm the chunk loader would eventually crash your game (or at least function as a hard mob switch where nothing could ever spawn because the warden filled the cap, not sure if he operates under a different cap). This machine is timed to make the shrieker go off at exactly 10 seconds over and over, so it is impossible for you to activate any others, and thus impossible to summon the warden - it essentially makes it so that one shrieker is the only one that exists in the entire game (for you). The Warden being there just makes it dangerous to come back and mess with.
just note then if you leave the game the warden switch stops. so whenever you join back and want it on just going back in the nether turn the switch off and on (mabye reset the cart) and it should be working again

You're better off doing it with Azelea since they are pretty much uniform and the leaves can be turned into bonemeal to have the machine be self sustaining.

Playing on version 1.20.4 and did everything like the tutorial, the warden spawned outside of the 11 blocks range. The only thing I did differently from the guide is building a walls and a roof because I was worried about the bats messing up the process. The warden spawned outside of these walls. Any solution or advice?

not working in my 1.20.4 world, made the machine and it worked fine in the ancient city I made it in, and then it stopped working upon entering another separate ancient city. Not entirely sure why
My mistake was I didn't F3+G and make it in the same chunk as the shrieker, my portal was a block too far away

If on a papermc server, this basic nether portal chunk loader will NOT work! There are a few designs on reddit I've seen for older versions, but I haven't tested.

Has to be the same chunk. Since the "chunk loader" is designed to keep that chunk loaded in at all times, which is how you spoof the shreiker while blocking the warden spawn.

in 1.21 it works really strange like it works perfectly until suddenly random sensor triggers shrieker which actually this mech meant to prevent from. i never go to the nether, always stayin in overworld, i dont logout or such. I just load the machine go fly to an another AC making noise around shriekers for 5 minutes without triggering them, after - sensors and shrieks activate... somewhy

yes, as long as the chunks you make it in are loaded, it will work anywhere in the world, even ancient cities 1000s of blocks away

so the chunk was loaded, i couldnt figure out the chunk loader because the portal wouldnt match the coordinates bec i was in the basalt deltas, anyways the chunk was loaded and i explored the end city with confidence then the warden spawned and now im dead, soo it doesnt work in 1.21

It does not work on 1.20.4. Everything was built correctly. Everything is still running. The other shriekers are still spawning Wardens.
I have done this, when I started the warden switch by shooting an arrow into the piston and then remove the wool (including the bottom one), the sculk sensor activates the sculk shrieker but I don't get the warden blindness effect, when I tried to explore the ancient city, sculk shriekers went off and I got the warden warning, my ancient city is right below spawn so I thought that I didn't need to make a chunk loader. Did I do something wrong? I am in a singleplayer hardcore world.
Maybe try making the chunk loader anyways and see if it works
The shrieker has to be atleast 128 blocks near 0, 0 so just build the chunk loader anyways
Bring torches, and dont forget to put them down, otherwise regular mobs will spawn in, and creepers will get you.
deepdark biome mobs will not spawn unless an enderman teleports into ancient city area

It didn't work for me , I tried it in 4 different worlds and still didnt work , the worden kept spawning.
You need to make sure there's no spawnable spots within an 11x11 area (hence the specific placement of water and have the shrieker you are spoofing be constantly activated.
If one of those conditions isn't met, then another skieker can summon the warden.

I tried this on an aternos server and the chunk loader didn't work. If i went too far away from the warden switch it would still spawn a warden.
Messed up the first time bc the water had blocks above it so Warden spawned had to risk my hardcore world trying to get the Warden away from those blocks so i could remove them and when i did it worked and found silence armor trim, ward armor trim a enchanted Golden apple on my 2nd ancient City or first bc the one i was in was already raided by me
I have tested this in the latest update, still works,
HOWEVER, the other shrieker also have the probability of setting of warden now.

your chunk loader failed, then. The point of the chunk loader is to make sure that this shrieker is constantly being 'detected' by Minecraft, and so even if you don't see it, it's constantly going off. If you don't do this, as soon as you're a certain distance away Minecraft stops rendering that chunk (so your computer doesn't light on fire keeping every part of Minecraft you so much as glanced at active, essentially) and it no longer remembers what's happening with that shrieker.

@@eduardosegatto8424 There are multiple possibilities here, but the most likely ones are that you somehow built it wrong or you are either in a mod pack or server which is tampering with either how you machine works (like blocking redstone clocks) or how the warden spawning works.

On multiplayer, I wonder if the other players also shot an arrow into the piston if it would work. One disabler contraption, multiple player arrows.
Thinking about it, it probably would only activate for one player and the rest wouldn't register, so yeah.. multiple contraptions are probably required, one per player.

For those who this doesn't work for them :
You shouldn't let the sensor to sense the piston movement, because it doesn't count as a player action and doesn't activate the shrieker and prevents itself from sensing the arrow. So you should make it so that it only sense the arrow.
You can do this by putting a sensor on the ground level (the same level as shrieker) and putting the piston one block lower and putting a wool block in the same level as piston, between the piston and sensor that is on the ground level. This makes it so that sensor only senses the arrow.
For piston you need to use the double observer trick (or any other redstone repating signal without sensor) that constantly activates and deactivates the piston.
I am glad it disables all of them and not just one ;)

If you reload the world doesnt the chunk loader break?
You should always turn off the chunk loader using the lever on the nether side. I have one of these for my gravity dupper

@@areenpathak1673 No, it won't be cause of infinity. Probably the timer resets whenever it drops again (piston goes up then down and the arrow drops).
Because the item is changing states - from a falling arrow to being stuck in the piston - it will never despawn. This trick is also used for things like arrow fountains.

Mine isn't working, I'm in 1.20.4 and I went near a shrieker (not the one for the switch) and it spawned a warden instantly, however no warden is spawning near the switch.
Edit: Turns out I think I just got really unlucky with in the split very short seconds where the piston or arrow isn't moving where I spawned the Warden in as I have managed to fly around and land near quite a few shriekers now without a warden spawning.

I cant find a shrieker that has a suitable place to build this. Either they are too packed up in a place or either there are way too many shriekers in one place

Does not work, other shriekers still spawn another one. It's not limited to 1 warden per player, a player can summon more.
Also, a bit of critical thinking needed from your side man, you want us to clear an 8x8 area, but need water to cover 11x11...

Works for me. I build another one in other ancient city for my friend. He came and shoot his own arrow. It works for me everywhere but not for him. I tried to turn off my machine and I even disconnected to make him the only person with only one machine running on the server but it still won't work for him. Any solutions?

i build this, and i am so confused, sometimes it works without any probelms, but other times shriekers just dont shriek half the time, idk what i can do to fix it, the problem might be due to the server, maybe building a second one would help.

So i build this, but after like 7 minecart placements it stops working. It destroys the minecart, but it doesnt teleport from the nether, or it doesnt get picked up by the hopper minecart

You need only do this once. That's what the chunk loader is for.
Make sure there is an air space between the piston and chain, otherwise arrows wont fall, and theyll be carried by current.
