Definitely “all in” on this line. I could appreciate the MOTU Classics figures aesthetically, but after the early days of retail, I got priced out, and even, while the sculpts and paint work on those are beautiful, there’s something about MOTU to me that needs to feel more “toyetic” and classics was always a bit “serious” for me. But the price of these, combined with the more toy like aesthetic and retro feel has me all in. Great review as always!
Fun story: My brother gave me the entire first wave for Christmas. Before he mailed them to me, his best friend's son saw Beast Man and reallly liked him. So my brother had to give him Beast Man and went back to the store to get me another one. So thankfully, these do appeal to kids. Good news moving forward.
I got to be honest I love this line when I was 10 years old I had a he-man Christmas I am now 46 I have a nine month-old son I have every figure and vehicle in this wave so far he will have an eight-year-old Christmas filled with everything he man has offer from now till then I think I might tear up when I get a new Castle Grey skull now the only thing I need to do is live that long to watch him enjoy it. Dan I’m super excited for your book to come out my wife and I love your videos keep on doing the toy gods work
I was a huge fan of Classics, but these are so much more fun, I really can't express how much I love them. The simplicity, the brighter colors...they just appeal to the kid in me that fell in love with MOTU back in '82
Yes that is one missing comparison with Super7 Neo Vintage.Though I think there is no harm standing those to Classics just for scaling comparison as long as it is the same characters.
The problem with the Super 7 vintage would be: Not every future Origins figure has a counter part in that line. But i would also like to see that happen.
This one by far seems to be (this is my personal opinion) the best of these figures. It looks closer to the vintage Beast Man than any of the other figures look to their original versions. I'm well aware that these MOTU Origins toys aren't supposed to be carbon copies of the vintage MOTU toys and not that I would have wanted them to be, but this Origins Beast Man makes me think that they could have done a bit of a better job with the other Origins figures.
Classics is my all time favorite line - but I really am starting to love the heck out of Origins, they just feel solid and pose very well - looking forward to getting more of these for my nephew, nieces, to pass down the MOTU experience!
As much as I think the Classics line is amazing, they're just a little too pricy for me (especially since I missed getting them new from mattycollector) and I'm really glad they made these so I can get new figures at a reasonable price for my shelves and I've also been getting them for my youngest nephew to play with, if he likes his He-Man and Skeletor I'll look at getting him more figures as I see them in stores, meanwhile I'm expecting my Panthor tomorrow and looking to find the rest of waves 1 & 2
It’s great hearing you talk about MOTU again. You’re passion for the line is absolutely admirable. I’m hoping the 7 inch collectors line can get us a 200x He Man and Skeletor at the least
That purple thing behind Beast Man is the fist beast He-Man fought saving the green-skinned Sorceress. He was prying it's jaws open when she hit it with an energy blast.
@@matthewmartin1595 As I said the Manticore shows ups in Dragon's Gift with art by the amazing Alfredo Alcalá, and its the guardian of the Skytree that Granamyr asks in exchange for helping He-Man and Teela.
The whip never made sense to me either. I made one for my new Beastman out of some similar black string, a round dowel, and a skewer, then painted it black. Works great!
Beast Man is the man! I love his bright colors and armor and beast taming whip. He's original gangster. So glad I got hooked on the Origins line. It's the most fun I've ever had with addiction. 😊🤪
The ones around here don't have the figures, but they do have the pegs for them. If you can't get them at Walmart right now you should be able to get them everywhere next year.
My son (7) is so hyped with these figures and they are still not in stores over here in Europe. I wonder if the bodyparts start to get loose or something when the kids play too much
You just gotta understand it’s different than the classics line, what else could they do with that line? I’m just glad these will be available at a lower price point in more stores and get kids into Masters again, you need new people into He-man if he’s to continue into the future and truly be THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE!
I just got my daughter the entire line minus the variants and armor he man and skeletor. Waiting for Castle Grayskull from bbts, excited to see her reaction!
You may already know about this but I opened a Skeletor and got a copy of the Beast Barrage mini-comic that is a typo print with alternate cover art. I made a video about it explaining. Pretty cool that there is some little treasure hunt to be had.
I got lucky today. I found the whole wave this morning and got one of each. I still haven't found Battlecat and the Skysled with Prince Adam. These go well with the Masters of the WWE.
MOTUC for me, MOTUO for my 5 year old son. We're a couple of happy boys. I was able to pick up He-man and Skeletor in store for him, and he's played with them every day!
@@GameTime-yj6qv The team of Beastman and Trapjaw were always classic! Especially when they would get chewed out by Skeletor! Comedy gold, a favorite episode of mine!
@Richard Klosterman @Game Time I’m amazed how much you guys remember the episodes! Yeah probably Beast Man had more screen time than the rest of the villains. I also associate him with Silver Hawks Mumbo Jumbo for some reason, maybe coz of his color lol
Man, I totally agree with what you said at the end there. I felt the same way, it was tough looking at these as anything but the thing that ended classics and it did have a "been there done that" feel to anyone that grew up on the originals but after having messed around with a couple I really like them.
I am so glad you said that !!!! Yes they do look like they were made for ACTUAL kids to enjoy too. I’m totally gonna get all of these and put them with my funko bat cave primal age playset (which is also awesome) for my kids to play with. Thanks Mattel you guys knocked it out of the park!!!!!

Remember when I got the original 'Beastman' in the mid '80's as a kid,and having to put his armour pieces in boiling water to soften them up enough to bend them and get them to clip together on the figure,it was really hard plastic!
When it comes to Skeletor's hinchmen it's either team Beast-Man, team Trap-Jaw or team Tri-Clops. I was a Trap-Jaw kid growing up (he was my very first figure). Gotta say though, that Beast-Man from the classics line looks amazing.

I do think they can be too slavish in trying to replicate the vintage toys to the point of redundancy. Improving a few things like the whip handle wouldn't hurt.

Are you saying that you are no longer doing comparisons with these origins and MOTU Classics? Pretty sure people know they are different lines. We just want to see what they look like side by side like, you know, comparison time?
what is Shartimus to Marvel Legends, peaugh is to Transformers, is Pixel Dan to He-Man/ Motu...one can tell from their voice & enthusiasm, which line is their favorite and their forte...Im not interested in the figure, a little before my time, the review though is worthwhile.
I understand what you said about not comparing Classics to Origins, but it's just not possible to separate the two. Origins feels like a step backwards, like a "demoted" line sort of speak. Could you imagine redoing your old work but in a cheaperm lesser way? Why? Every time you do something new you try to improve and do better than what you already did, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I love MOTU. But I feel there is a risk of mattel watering down the franchise with so many things. And Mattel seems like they are always looking for the slightest excuse to cancel Motu...I' afraid that with so many things out there, they might not sell as much and they will go like "See, they are not selling, cancel"...That's my 2 cents.
Hey Dan! Nice vid as allways. I cant help myself, but i dont like the Origin Line so much. The Articulation is nice, but the Paintaps are not so great. I personal stick to miy Classic Figures ;) I like the Artworks on the Packaging.
