Hi Stephen, Great question! My journey has been from the Ace 250 to the Simplex and now to the Legend (with some Simplex sprinkled in here and there 😀). It really depends on how much of a learning curve you're prepared to take on. The Ace 250 really only has two very basic settings: sensitivity and discrimination. The Simplex has much more adjustability of these settings plus adds more settings like ground balancing, different modes (with different filtering in the background...separate from discrimination), Iron volume etc. My finds rate increased dramatically with the Simplex. The Legend is simultaneous multi-frequency so you'll find even more stuff and it'll be deeper, however there are a lot more settings to get your head around like recovery speed, noise cancellation, Iron Filter, tones settings, Ground stabilisation, different frequency sets and so on. So it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a significant step up with just a few extra settings to get your head around, go for the Simplex. If you're happy with a steep learning curve, or are technically minded and a quick learner...the Legend will be a good choice. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions etc. I have plenty of videos on both machines here on the channel.
@@DTEKTSUSSEX many thanks for you reply. I am mainly using the 250 for the beach at the minute as I live nearby the sea and permissions are hard to come by. However it doesnt work well on wet sand (tends to false) which limits where i can go. Would the Simplex work on wet sand?
The Simplex is fine on wet sand if you set it up correctly (let me know if you get to that point). The Legend will be more stable but, again, the learning curve is quite big.
Ha! I said the same thing in one of my recent videos, so I'll have to put in a retraction as well. I tried adjusting it, but I haven't seen any difference in the outcome no matter how I set it.
first thing great video what a cracking ring. just a quick question on the new update 1.11 is there something wrong with the sound ?it sound not as crisp or sharp compared to 1.09.I did a factory reset after update to1.11
Cheers Steve! 😎 The sound seems the same to me. I haven't heard anyone else say they've noticed a difference. Could be a perception/environment thing perhaps? Or if you think it's definitely different, try redoing the update in case something has gone screwy.
Hi Philip, The LG30 is a couple of cm longer so you get slightly more coverage. It's also a bit lighter than the stock. The biggest benefit is the elliptical shape. Physically is can get closer to obstacles and in terms of performance it is more precise with better separation 👍
Your explanation of IF makes more sense than the user manual. The manual says that setting 8 is no filtering. Then what is setting 0 supposed to be? I think that the manual is wrong.
The manual says 8 is 'default' rather than specifically saying 'no filtering' so it's not wrong but could definitely be clearer. I've spoken with Dilek and asked if the IF explanation in the manual could be looked at on the next revision 👍
@@DTEKTSUSSEX Thank you. The manual is very confusing to me. I understand now that 0 is no filtering, default 8 is much filtering, and 9 is the most filtering.

Currently got the Garret Ace 250, but thinking of upgrading. Would you recommend the Simplex or the Legend?

I too was confused about the i f because of the manual not you. Sweet finds mate.
Glad it wasn't just me...😅
Thanks Tim 👍
Good video and well found on the ring, about time you had some good luck🎉
Cheers Tony 😎

I'm kinda glad it wasn't just me 😅 Good to make sure and set the record straight though.
Your buttons are red on the legend, I can't quite tell is that a screen and pad protector? Blue on the cable too?
Hi Steffen,
It's the Nokta control box cover. Made by Nokta themselves...highly recommended!!
The blue on the cable is called a Snake Skinz 😊👍
Very cool finds. I wonder if the button is from a uniform.
Could be. I think it's modern though.

Could anyone tell me the benefits of the LG30 coil over the stock 11inch.

Great video as always . I wonder if the ring owners Birthday was 27th ?
That's an intriguing thought...🤔
