  • My completely Honest initial review of the TOPDON Artilink 600 OBDII scanner
    I was supplied with this unit free of charge by Topdon. However they have had no influence over what I share in this video. (And they still sent me it! So that must be a mark of confidence on their part😁)

    I just bought one of these and used it for the first time yesterday on my Jeep Liberty. This tool is top notch as far as I'm concerned. It downloads 40 different vehicles and works great. You don't have to look up any codes, it tells you what the issue is. I LOVE it and recommend it to anyone who does their own repairs or repairs other vehicles.

    Had a PC since 1989….when it came with MS windows 3.5 on floppy disks…and had a massive 250 megabit hard drive… when a document was done in word, I’d press print, and about an hour latter the printer would actually start…and oh the memories of the noise the telephone dial-up connection for the internet made…ho hum… never even heard of Apple or Mac until the 2000’s…!!

    • @samsen3965
      @samsen3965 Год назад

      Hah hah. I guess my first PC was also in the same years but gush... You had a huge hard drive. I had a 40 Megabit (Yes you heard right and not giga or tera) hard drive and was thinking boy, will I ever be able to fill it? Not forget to say, I had even games running on that such as "Test Drive" with all fancy car's dashboard and life was a lot sweeter then, when imagination would do most of the job!
      And again your drive was modern cause mine was 5 and quarter, a real "Floppy" disk, and 3.5 came as an upgrade, later.
      Did I mention "mouse" didn't exist then (Thanks to old cats that knew their job, not like today when they prefer to sleep all day on their fat belly!) :) And should you print more than one page, you would always end up with half a page appearing in the middle of each subsequent page and this would keep you busy all day to empty your printer ink, before figuring out how to keep enough words to each page!

    As always John thanks. All, I recently purchased a 2002 XK 8 convertible and it has a fault code indicating that the passenger seat weight sensor( passenger occupancy sensor) is bad. I cannot seem to find a new or used replacement part. I am guessing that it is may be compatible with other Jag models from the 2000's? Does anyone know where I can locate one?

    • @paulbrant7808
      @paulbrant7808 Год назад

      Hi, my 02 coupe had the same fault code. My local auto electrician fixed it without parts. I think it was a bad connection to the occupancy sensor in the A pillar then needed callibration. The cables under the seat also chaff due to seat adjustment so worth checking first. A jag breakers is the place to find the weight sensor but I was told they rarely fail so would rule out everything else first.
      Hope this helps.

      When I service my transmission (coming soon) It will probably generate a code. So I will let everyone know if the TOPDON reader sees it👍

    Hello, Can you also calibrate the throttle valve with this device?

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  4 дня назад

      Calibrate No but it will read the throttle pedal and throttle body relative positions live. So you can easilly see if there are issues. But no it wont allow you to adjust them

    If anyone found a way to deal with the clearance of Code P1000 in Jag XK8 please help me.
    Also, my other intermittent problem is " *Restricted performance* " engine mode (Limbo). When I park the car for many days, I always get this code and it takes several days of driving to get rid of it but not sure why I should get it and what is the real correct way to deal with this.
    Lastly, if anyone has experience with "Shake sensor error" code please give me a clue if I have to change only the O2 sensor or if more is needed.
    Thanks

      Not sure this will solve all your issues, but putting the battery on trickle charge when not in use may help: anything other than a battery in tip top condition causes all sorts of maladies in the XK8

    • @samsen3965
      @samsen3965 Год назад +1

      @@stephendavies6949 Yes. Any time battery is disconnected or the charge is too low when starting, Car's computer resets and that means an automated generation of a brand new Code P1000. (Seriously why did Jaguar engineers have added one such feature, not thinking of the lawmakers in California who don't like imported cars?!)
      In a hard way, I have learned to use trickle charge. The problem, car is not always parked in a garage and running wire to the street, not a good thing. Then I tried solar battery Trickle with no avail. Technology is not yet ripped though I have enough dose of daily sun.
      Now I am intermittently charging overnight, at least once a week.
      But my problem is what is the right way to erase the code? I have read many mystical stories and following those (Some dangerous procedures) takes weeks to follow and does not always result right! Sadly.
      Thanks anyway.

      @@samsen3965 sound’s like 1) you should splash out on new replacement car battery, and 2) get a tool like the one in the video to reset the error code(s) after the new battery is fitted… If it’s any consolation I own a Jeep Cherokee (2017) and had all sorts of codes come up… only one fault was actually located and that was the from left wheel speed sensor…during the pandemic the dealer could not get the part…but I located one from a dealer in Lithuania (I’m a Brit in the UK), and bought it for £10, (about $12 ), and shipped it DHL for £10 to the UK - it only took 3 days from advise it was sent, to arrival at my door… I took it over to the dealer who did the work for free - they were so embarrassed they could not get the part, and I did…lol… previous to this on my Jeep Compass (2013), a new battery was all that was required to be fitted to resolve a lot of regularly recurring error codes…👍🏻 it’s the battery not holding sufficient charge that’s the problem, no matter how you look after it…once this happens you really need to get a new battery…

    I bought one of these and every car that I connect it to it says there are no error codes but if I use a different scan tool I see that there are many fault codes which the Topdon can't read. Topdon tech support said that this is because it can only read and clear OBD2 emission-related system fault codes, nothing else. Utter garbage and a waste of money.
