Well as I continue to watch the video I see your actually having a photo contest and I see where to send it so I will be sending you pictures of my 2001 XK8
Got to agree on the exhaust note. I've also got the Adamesh exhaust and love the subtle burble on start up and the growl when I "give it some" :-) Must also take a photo!!!!
Great video John, I’ve followed along and have done the same to my headlights. That was huge improvement. I’ve upgraded my exhaust with a Moss Motoring stainless steel unit and wow, I love the sound and growl. I did the K&N air filter too. Next up for my 2001 convertible is the EBC brake upgrade. Fantastic journey of yours I’ve followed and am loving the journey I’m having with mine. Great work, never stop keep the Jaguar vids rolling my friend, cheers!
Nice one John, have done 3 of those mostly down to TTG (haven't needed the headlamp mod). Have completed a variation on bluetooth to phone connectivity but have to agree on the brake and exhaust modifications being right up there as the best mods!!
I thought I had seen all your “Secrets” videos, but I missed your not only this one but your Diff Hatch one too. Thanks for the Top 5 Summary. Great idea. Next 5?
Sorry to have missed the live premiere. Just recovering from replacing all of the bushes on the back of the wife’s (whisper it) BMW. Managed to smash myself in the face with a ratchet, breaking my specs and mashing my hooter in the process. Ah, the joys of garage life! Now, XK8 headlamps. There’s a PITY subject if ever there was one…
Lovely to hear you reminiscing about your dad John. My dad passed away some 21 years ago and I still miss him. Today I looked at my oily, battered physhog in the mirror and saw my own dad looking back at me. So many times I remember coming in from working out on the road In front of our terraced house in Lancashire on the family car in all sorts of weathers and that mucky, grimy appearance brought it all back. Very special memories my friend. Funnily enough, it’s not my two lads that will share those memories with me but my daughter, who’s a great apprentice in the garage. Always ready with the right tool, often before you know you need it yourself. Times change!
Hi John, one of mods on MJ you were the impetus for was the the Stage 1 with the quad tips exhaust. A bit of that throaty purr just makes the cruising a tad more enjoyable. Thanks for all the ideas and tips, keep them coming. Cheers!
John, as you reviewed your headlight mods, and the mention of glass vs. plastic, that the hefty vinyl headlight protectors I installed over the glass may also be useful in deterring condensation. Living in the southern US, where humidity is common but chilling conditions are less so, perhaps this would better be confirmed / denied by yourself or other subscribers, but I don't have any problem with headlight condensation in my 2005.
Photography contest huh? Sounds like I have a justification for my new camera lol. Thanks for the video. Reminds me I need to check my differential and rear end overall.
Hi John, hi my friend, I have realized four of your mods. Because of your excellent videos. Thanks. I also enjoy modifying my xk8. Exhaust and brakes were my top mods. Adamesh Thank you
Interesting video John and a great reminder of some of your mods. I tracked my XKR recently and found out the standard pads couldn’t cope - though almost new I had to stop and cool them down after 10 laps of Mallory. If I do another track day will invest in Greenstuff or Yellowstuff pads first
@@ToTheGarage yup John…I’m very proud of my 2”DIA hole and black plug with a great Jag label. It all happened because I watched your Video and said that’s a great access point! The whole process was very worthwhile as my very smelly 1997 diff oil had 127,000 of use! Some of your other mods are on my list when parts expire. When brakes need new rotors and I like the braided stainless flex hose to the brakes!
John, I love your videos. Am I right in assuming that the early XK8s are asbestos free and safe to work on. I know the UK banned asbestos in 1999 but when did Jaguar stop using asbestos.
Hi John. Just been rewatching some previous TTG videos and just noticed that you don't have a 'growler' badge on your boot lid.. I have one on my 98 convertible so just wondering if this was standard fitment? I know your car is a particularly early example and surpose in the years since they were new either yours could have been removed or mine could have been added😁
Thank you John for another great video. To the community, I have a question I am hopeful that you can help with. When I put the top down the latch on the top of the windscreen stays out, it does not retract, and the Hood Open message appears on the dash. Anyone had and solved this problem?
I can only dream of mods right now my brake fluid and coolant is leaking my abs system is faulty and a ground for my tail lights is bad also I need to change the gearbox fluid 🥺😢
Well after winning my 2001 XK8 convertible on eBay 2 years ago, I finally have all the mechanics sorted out and the car is running great, "knock on wood".... not a speck of rust on this body and the underneath is really really nice for as many miles is on it which is 143,000 but it came from Florida so it's a rust free car and did not see many bad roads. But it's registered up in Pennsylvania now where it will most likely be spending the rest of its life, I don't see me ever selling it. So with that said I have to be careful with it, as we have terrible roads in Pennsylvania highways and side streets are all horrible. Our government sucks and they don't take care of anything. And we get harsh Winters up here and they use a lot of salt so this car will not see any winter driving. But if you would like to see a picture of it John let me know where I could post it for you... I don't know if you have a Facebook account and would like to accept my friendship. On Facebook I am Carlo Rizzo Sr. Actually in life that's who I am LOL
Question..... the windows on my convertible XK8R pop down when I open the doors, but forget to pop back up when the doors are shut - gradually work their way down. I've reset them 'full up' by holding the button down till I hear that click, but they don't hold the memory. Is this a common problem? any advice welcome please. David, New Zealand
Hi John nice program i've got a problem I've reversed into my 1998 XK8 & Smashed the passenger side head light Cant find a glass cover anywhere Can you or any obe help me?Ribert.
Well as I continue to watch the video I see your actually having a photo contest and I see where to send it so I will be sending you pictures of my 2001 XK8
Great Carlo. Look forward to seeing them
Got to agree on the exhaust note. I've also got the Adamesh exhaust and love the subtle burble on start up and the growl when I "give it some" :-) Must also take a photo!!!!
I also. Exhaust by Adamesh. And brake discs. Top
Thanks for sharing
Just got my first XK8 1997 green convertible and love your channel it’s been a massive help. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks, will do!

Exactly my opinion.
Love Colorado. Breathtaking. Good skiing too,
Never been myself but the pictures make me want to visit someday👍
terribly leftist
that bluetooth thing is great- got one at once when I watched your first vid about that "cassette" - thx again!
Nice one John, have done 3 of those mostly down to TTG (haven't needed the headlamp mod). Have completed a variation on bluetooth to phone connectivity but have to agree on the brake and exhaust modifications being right up there as the best mods!!

Sorry to hear about the hooter Gerard.
I scrapped my last set of glasses while fitting my exhaust system😔
So its not just you.

Cool, thanks Udo. more top 5's for your consideration coming soon👍
Great top 5 John. A little surprised that the torch was not in there though. 😉
It was a close run thing. but in the end I thought it was too recent for it to be judged fairly
Excelent video! Greetings from argentina ❤

Great video John. 👍
Thanks 👍
What about the convertible roof mod so you can put roof down on remote
Can’t wait to see what John has determined are the top 5 mods. Hope my PJ has some of them.
Were any of them on your list Mark?

Great vids as always, John. I like to occasionally revisit them and are you thinking of ruining another photo competition for this year 202.
That's the plan! No details yet but I would get clicking that camera😁👍

Yes they are completely Asbestos free cars👍
How do you stop the tin worm in your Jaguar ?
Hi John, I do not see the information on the exhaust modification...I would love to do this to my 1999 XK8 convertible...Thanks, Paul

tried the tape bluetooth upgrade. MY radio ate the tape and I never got it out. Guess I got the wrong thingy from China ;-)
I had the same problem Jaap - got it out in the end and bought an FM Bluetooth transmitter which sits in the lighter socket instead.

Usually, it means the car Battery is in poor condition.
Where did you get the blue tooth cassette ?
ebay
