Thanks, for the review of the 2025 CX-5 Signature. We're a Mazda CX-5 Signature family. I drive a 2019 soul red model and my wife has a 2024 eternal blue model she bought in July 2024. She traded in her 2015 CX-5 Grand Touring for it. I've been very happy with mine it now has over 86,000 miles. We both prefer it over the CX-50 and prefer several design features, such as the 40/20/40 rear seats, fully independent rear suspension, build quality and cheaper pricing over the CX-50. Basically the ONLY thing I would love to change is that dark brown leather is TOO DARK!. It's almost black. It would be more attractive and luxurious if it was a lighter brown or saddle or terra cotta!! Overall it competes very well against cars like Lexus, costing $10-15,000 more. Thanks, for the great videos. BTW, we lived in Lexington, KY from 1995-1999. Beautiful city in the heart of the beautiful Bluegrass country!! I'm interested in seeing the next generation hybrid CX-5 when it comes out.
I was at the Senior Center, picking up a rider for the non-profit ride service I drive for (shout out iTN Bluegrass) when you were filming that one. Shear coincidence I recently tripped over your channel. Keep up the good work!
Bought a signature new in 2023. Almost zero changes with the 2025 except for some exterior bumper and grille trim and barely useable touch screen, as pointed out in the video. THE GOOD: MSRP remains $40,600 for 2025...so with inflation, the price has actually gone down. I'm very impressed with the steering feel and accuracy, high speed cornering, luxury level, and take off power without wheel chirp while in manual mode. Living in the south I don't need an aggressive all weather tire so I'll get a Continental or other high performance tire when the factory rubber gets skinny. I never use this vehicle off road or for towing. We have a Tundra and Wrangler for that. I am over six feet tall, and while bivouacking for a hiking trip I have slept in the rear cargo area without having to bend my knees. Cargo volume is excellent. The digital dash mixed with analog is great. Some cool graphics for cruise control with a green arc that sweeps up to the set speed and a red line to indicate the speed limit...which the car reads from the road signs. Heads up display is useful. 360 panoramic cameras and folding mirrors are excellent tools, as is the LIDAR sensing and warnings. Distance following in bumper to bumper traffic works well. Auto dimming headlights works well. Heated and ventilated seats are good, as is heated steering wheel. The Bose sound is great. I enjoy the native Sirius XM as well. I use Android Auto and it works well. This vehicle has very few micro-managing, naggy, nanny features that have crept into the cabin environment of so many new auto brands. Thank goodness for that. I like the simple six speed transmission with clever manipulation of the torque converter. Simple, reliable, robust. AWD works very well in high torque takeoff. I haven't tested it off road. Simple magnetic clutch for rear wheel engagement. I often see 30MPG in my lazy back road trip to work. I average 27MPG mixed with 87 octane Guaranteed Gasoline. I like the all LED lighting for reliability and looks. We keep vehicles 10+ years. Lifetime cost of ownership and crash safety are stellar with the CX-5. THE MEH: Climate control needs to be smarter and more accurate with temperature keeping. It sometimes has to be forced into maximum cooling to get to the temperature setpoint. The vehicle ahead BRAKE! warning is too sensitive, and needs to have the ability to be entirely disabled or reduced to just a HUD warning with no alarms or braking. Wish it had fog lights and a full length sun roof. Also wish you could display turbo boost, engine oil pressure, and transmission fluid temperature. Lane keeping is weak; it would be nice to be able to dial it up to be more aggressive. Infotainment is Fred Flintstone primitive. Built in navigation while it does give you turn directions in the HUD is just OK, but that's the situation with all automotive navigation...go with Google, Apple, or Wayz. I get no real benefit from the Sport mode. If I want responsiveness, which I actually do in tight traffic, I use the manual mode and/or paddle shifters. I never have had a reason to test or use the off road mode. Ventilated seats are stiffer on one side of the seat cushion than non-ventilated seats due to the plastic air manifold. This makes for a less comfortable ride on long trips than my wife's 2023 CX-5 Preferred. Really wanted white leather...don't love the dark only option. THE BAD (just kidding): 20,000 miles and I can't find anything bad. I maintain the vehicle per the "harsh conditions" frequencies in the manual, even though it has an easy life.
That’s the exact spec and trim I want! And here in the Philippines, we get 3 trims and the top trim here is the 2.5L Turbo or the Signature you have there in the US. But sadly, all trims have the same old 8” infotainment. But I think the newly refreshed trims to arrive next year will have the standard 10” screens. Great review of this and I love it! God Bless, always!!!😊
For the Philippines (as of September 2024), we have three variants - 2.0 FWD Sport - 2.5 AWD Sport - 2.5 Turbo AWD TOTL Our naturally-aspirated variants are made in Malaysia........while our Turbo variant is imported from Japan.
I now owned the Mazda CX - 5 turbo signature, my only two cons about the car are: the two position memory seat for two occupants doesn’t change the side mirror setting it’s either gonna be set for my wife or I’ll have to change it for myself and she has to go through the trouble of changing it back, other issue that the vehicle can only be connected to one cell phone especially with the remote start. Hopefully this can be corrected by a software update firmware update whatever you wanna call it. Other than that, we love the car. It’s primary my wife’s the vehicle, but it would be nice. I can jump into it and do what I need to do.
One note: I just purchased a 2025 CX 5 Select and it does not have auto stop and does not have Cylinder Deactivation. This was my preference also, since I wanted neither. I've heard that some of the Selects will have auto stop and CD and some won't. You might want to check and report on that.
Saving my cash for next gen. 2025-26 CX5. It will be offered with their own in-house Hybrid system and rumoured PHEV 328HP as well. Gonna be worth the wait.
@CarConfections, you guys should review the updated 2025 CX-5 Carbon Turbo which now has the 360° camera system & front & rear parking sensors from the Signature trim. That's the best value of the turbo trims
Great review guys. Really like the style of the CX-5 and I'm VERY happy that Mazda is NOT using a CVT transmission in this compact segment. Could have used an extra gear or two but it is what it is. For someone like me who's been driving since I could reach the pedals, CVT transmissions are so unenjoyable. I'm currently stuck with one but not for long😁. Hope you do a review of the CX-70 with the 280hp Turbo Inline 6. Trying to decide between this Signature CX-5 and the CX-70 non-S trim. Love your reviews. Thanks fellas. 👍
I have the 2024 signature. A big reason why I went with the signature is because of the 360 camera. I'm a bit annoyed now that it is available on the premium plus, bec that's the trim that I ideally wanted. I like the blacked out rims, molding, and mirror caps better
I just bought 2025 premium plus last month and I 50% thought should have pushed getting turbo signature. But oh well maybe 3 years from now I will trade it in
There is an option under the Bluetooth device section of the and entertainment system to allow the user to always use the touchscreen and CarPlay or android auto. This is available on all models starting from 2024.
I've got a hankering for a Mazda. Really like the CX5 design and that silver gray color adds some elegance in my opinion. Glad you pointed out the trend by many other car brands shying away from horsepower for vehicles in this class. That to me has been very disappointing. I would like to see Mazda bump up the power in the CX5 even more and possibly build their engine with some flexibility so that if you choose to use Premium Fuel you'll get the max power output. Guys I have one bit of feedback and that is if you could go through the Normal and Sport Modes, if so equipped, when doing your Driving Impression segment for these vehicles. I would love to hear your driver feedback when switching between those modes. Oh, and a bit more exterior B-Roll for those of us who enjoy a little eye candy with some of these well-designed models. I always appreciate your reviews and didn't realize I wasn't subscribed. I am now. Keep up the great work.
This CX5 is fairly nice, better than most in the class. It still has fresh styling but it’s age it’s definitely showing in some areas where the CX-50 enhances. Though I will say if technology and having the most room isn’t a major setback for most people it just maybe the best overall vehicle in the segment. Though if it were up to me, I would get a CX-50, I believe it looks a lot better than this and I do prefer the terracotta seats that’s on the 50 as well. This interior is just to dark for my liking.
The interior being too dark is a Mazda staple. Their vehicles come with an all-black interior as standard without any choice without paying more for upgraded leather upholstery, which I don't like, Even then, it's still an all-black interior with colored upholstery. Ick.
Loved my Mazda 3 GT Hatchback. Had it for 10 years. I would happily go back to Mazda, and a CX-5...if they updated the display size, position, and UI/UX. I can't stand the current design language of screens just stuck upright in the dash. Maybe it's just me. I would prefer it if they would integrate the screen into the dash, like Jeep (my current brand). Much safer/easier to reach/use when integrated, IMO. Excellent review, fellas!!
As a Florida resident who doesn't need nor want AWD, I don't consider any vehicle that forces AWD on me, which seems to be an increasing number of CUVs nowadays. There are many important reasons to avoid having AWD when you don't need it: 1) You have to replace all 4 tires at once, so it's a huge waste of money if you have one bad tire or only need to replace a pair of worn tires. 2) You have to perform AWD differential maintenance. 3) Fuel economy is usually a worse because of the parasitic mechanical drag and added weight of AWD components, which can and do fail later down the road. So unless one truly needs AWD, it's an unnecessary drain on the wallet. Considering there are nice FWD competitors out there for less money, the CX5 isn't a CUV I'd consider. It does look nice though.
It's a great vehicle and fun to drive. Mazda should be very careful in redesigning the body style. Its really perfect just the way it is. A 2.5 liter with a six speed auto and made in Japan.
I love this car my wife has a 2023 cx5 carbon edition. Although I don’t think people realize how luxurious it is. It has some features my Lexus doesn’t have. BUT I hope Mazda changes the style soon. It’s a little long in the tooth in my opinion
Thanks to both of you for doing all the reviews. You do an excellent job. I like the consistency that I know what you would be covering. Could you tell me if the mpg is rated for using regular gas and not premium
I owned a 2024 cx-5 signature for all of 4 weeks. I found the seats extremely uncomfortable. The side bolsters were so stiff it cut into my thighs causing, extreme discomfort and pain. Mazda seat pain has a major design flaw. Took it to a custom upholstery shop and they get people like me all the time complaining of the seats. Seems for 40 grand I should be able to fall asleep in this vehicle. I also found the cabin a little large for me. My arm could not rest comfortably on the center console which is a must for long commutes. So, I traded for a cx-30. Smaller but much more comfortable. And with the same turbo engine as the cx-5 the thing practically flies. Since we are empty nesters I was not worried about lack of back seat room. Hopefully, the redesign in 2026 will take care of some of the outdated issues with the cx-5. Until then I would stay patient and wait for the 2026 cx-5 which will also come in a hybrid version.
My 2025 CX5 has cylinder deactivation and auto start stop which I am not to pleased with but I hope that these two features are not a problem in the future. If anyone has had problems with either would ya please let me know what is going on. Other than these two features I really like my Mazda CX5 alot
I’ve been looking at the ‘25 CX-5 PP and test drove it. I don’t like that jerky feeling the CD brings. I read on Reddit that the 8th letter on the VIN determines whether you have CD and iStop. Is this true? And why were the lights on the odometer flashing. I’m so new to the SUV fam. 😊
2016 CX-5 GS fwd in blue with 150,000 kms. When it dies I’m hoping the CX5 will have the hybrid option available as it fits perfectly in my underground parking spot and I love the thing. Been an amazing and super reliable suv. If it never gets the hybrid option, I would consider the CX-50 hybrid. Also, it’s a better buy than the Americans and it won’t be stolen like the other Japanese ones, like the CRV which is a big stolen one here in Canada. Also Start/Stop is not available on the base GX and GS trims here in Canada, only on the Kuro and GT non turbo option trims and not available on the 2.5 turbo.
My wife has the Mazda CX-5 touring 2022,it is a nice car,but I prefer driving my Kia Sportage 2022, is quicker and it's way more comfortable, I am sure the Mazda is a more refined car,but the Sportage has a better driving experience for me.
@azizkizbayev439 The CX-9 was the largest CX of the Initial series. Three rows of seating as I recall. The CX-90, repeat 90, is back with an inline six-cylinder engine.
I have a 2024 CX5 Signature. I like it but considering a BMW X1 or 2. The only thing stopping me is the infotainment touch screen, I don't like it. After driving the BMW and getting into my CX 5 to drive away I have no doubt that the BMW is a superior vehicle although the start/stop in the BMW is a concern which my Mazda does not have....Anyone have thoughts?
Still a great near-luxury value if fuel economy isn’t vital for you…except they need a lighter interior color option for the Signature. That alone is a deal-breaker for me. After settling on a dark interior for a previous car, I have vowed to never settle for driving around in a coal pit again!
@@2004cyrus Great choice! I have the 2021 CX 9 Signature with the quilted white leather…the luxury feel just POPS! And the Soul Red exterior is exquisite as well. Every time I look at my car, inside and out, it makes me happy! Just about as nice as a Lexus RX for 15K less and it drives better! But when my wife tires of her 2007 Lexus RX 350, we’ll be looking at something smaller for our 2d vehicle….
i still thing the 2017-2021 model looks better then the newer facelift .. like the front lights better then the new one en how the chrome kinda goes in the lense
@@2004cyrus but like thats cuz some people prefer the old school design where you can see the check engine light. I dont but then they can add digital gauge as an option cant they? Or atleast the signature model.
You missed the point on the infotainment center. The signature is a touch screen when the phone automatically connects. That is a pretty big miss on this cars review. I own 2024 Signature
It's incredible that Mazda has NOT changed the body style OR the interior of this car since 2017!!! That is NINE model years with the same body style! I can't think of any other car company that goes this long without body changes to its vehicles. The CX-5 is already tired and boring! It certainly needs a significant refresh to make it exciting again. You're hearing this, Mazda????
Mazda is ok for their reliability.. but for example tire pressure.. if you have some problem there you actually don't have information what tire has issue, what pressure is there, etc.. it is catastrofic feelings when you are driving and just have information about this issue but don't know what exactly is going on..

Bought a signature new in 2023. Almost zero changes with the 2025 except for some exterior bumper and grille trim and barely useable touch screen, as pointed out in the video.
THE GOOD:
MSRP remains $40,600 for 2025...so with inflation, the price has actually gone down.
THE MEH:
Climate control needs to be smarter and more accurate with temperature keeping. It sometimes has to be forced into maximum cooling to get to the temperature setpoint. The vehicle ahead BRAKE! warning is too sensitive, and needs to have the ability to be entirely disabled or reduced to just a HUD warning with no alarms or braking.
22:50 You can enable the touchscreen to work even when the car is in motion
Why does the caturra brown look gray?
I like everything about this CX-5 EXCEPT the cargo space which is small!
CX5 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seems minus the wheel arch trim being painted, this is identical to my 2020 CX5 Grant touring. And that’s a great thing!
And this doesn’t have fog lights. And these new seats have softer foam in the seat bottom
Those front turn signals don’t look like LED lights. You do get a ton of features. Love the CX5
Ecery single exterior light is LED on CX5 Premium and up.
I have been looking at this. Its a pretty nice vehicle for this segment for sure.
My 2025 CX5 has cylinder deactivation and auto start stop which I am not to pleased with but I hope that these two features are not a problem in the future. If anyone has had problems with either would ya please let me know what is going on. Other than these two features I really like my Mazda CX5 alot
Great review! I can’t remember exactly but this is the 378th refresh on this gen, am I right?
Does it still have independent rear suspension, not that cheap torsion beam rear suspension of the CX50?
Yes it still has an independent rear suspension
Yes it does
That is correct
Best selling car in 2024 👍
I’ve been looking at the ‘25 CX-5 PP and test drove it. I don’t like that jerky feeling the CD brings. I read on Reddit that the 8th letter on the VIN determines whether you have CD and iStop. Is this true? And why were the lights on the odometer flashing. I’m so new to the SUV fam. 😊
You gave a PERFECT review! 🥇 You are 5’9, would the back seat FIT a 6’2 inch passenger? Thk you
Thanks! At 6'2" it would probably start to be uncomfortable if the driver wasn't also very short
quick question. where is the hybrid cable located? will this have the same cablegate problem from the rav4 hybrid?
Some slivers of genuine wood! Wow! How times have changed.
When new generation CX-5 comes to USA and CANADA ?
Is the sunroof on the CX 5, standard? Do you have to pay Extra for the sunroof, or do all the CX5’s come with it?
Every trim except S and Select
They are cool, but Mazda should of never gotten rid of fog lights and also should kept rear tailights round.
Agreed
I wonder if Mazda will discontinue the CX-5 or keep it due to it being at a good price point compared to the CX-70 - CX-90
They’ve already announced a replacement for the CX-5 so it’s not going anywhere.
@@BrandonG8Manwait. You’re saying they’ve replaced the CX-5 and yet they’re keeping the CX-5?
Clarification please.
They are not getting rid of it, they make too much money from them, they will just do a facelift in a year or two.
Keeping it according to all their press releases. It will become a hibread.
@@curtis4982he said it wrong. It’s not being replaced, it’s going to be made into a hibread.
I hope they bring back the cx 9!
Cx90?????
@azizkizbayev439 The CX-9 was the largest CX of the Initial series. Three rows of seating as I recall. The CX-90, repeat 90, is back with an inline six-cylinder engine.
@@WilliamMurphy-b6v he hopes that cx-9 makes a come back. Cx90 is the next gen with a 3 row . I repeat as well
Is that as flat as the seats go? it looks like they’re angled up a bit
What is traffic jam assist?
2016 interior looks way better than modern one especially terrible vent design
Mazda with 2.5L is a king - no doubt! Subaru is #2!
Mazda has the better transmission
Mazda 🔥 is the definition of premium vehicles not Jeep 😂😂😂 !
CX5 needs a facelift please
pano sunroof
inline 4
hybrid system
Good handling.
Still a great near-luxury value if fuel economy isn’t vital for you…except they need a lighter interior color option for the Signature. That alone is a deal-breaker for me. After settling on a dark interior for a previous car, I have vowed to never settle for driving around in a coal pit again!
lol a coal pit. I have the CX-5 with white leather. I like it.
@@2004cyrusI have Dk brn Lea. I love it too !
I have a 2024 model, not a very fuel efficient vehicle
I take a shot every time they say elements.
Have a 2024 signature, does anyone feel the cup holders are too far back and the arm rest is also to far back for shorter people?
It’s my first Mazda. I was thinking the very same thing.
if it broke don’t fix it!
Josh’s fingers at the back looked scary 🤪
The Mazda CX-5 is just a little bit too small for me. I need something like a Mazda CX-7 0 or cx50
True
CX-50 isn’t any bigger, maybe an inch of rear leg room. I have both of these. The CX-70 has the large amount of space tho. I’m getting that next year
@@2004cyrus cx50 has a beam torsion in the back. Its a shame for a 40k vehicle plus assembled in mexico built quality is low. Cx70 is the way to go
@@azizkizbayev439 yes I know it does, that’s why I only have a newer CX5 and a new CX70 as of Friday. I like them
@@2004cyrus any issues with transmission? Some reviewrs were saying its not sync with the engine battery
Still think this is a great value vehicle!
It is and i have a base trim select
I love this car
i still thing the 2017-2021 model looks better then the newer facelift .. like the front lights better then the new one en how the chrome kinda goes in the lense
U decide to get cx5 or crv
WHats your height 🤔 my dad is 5'10 & uses a walker , I wonder if he would fit
The model that should have gotten a hybrid trim!
It will. Stay tuned for be on the lookout mid 2025....announcement will be made.
They should add a full digital gauge cluster
Not everyone wants that. I have 2 and I don’t want it. I have a new Camry with full digital and it’s annoying.
May I know where is the Foglight’s
No foglights
When will we ever see an 8 speed transmission?
I own a ‘16 GT. Been waiting on a pano roof. I’m done waiting.
I got a pano roof in my new 2025 Camry and I don’t really care about it now. You probably know the CX-50 has the panoramic roof
I wish the 2024 model had the automatic side mirrors like this one 🙄
❤mazda
Spot the difference with my 23 model 🧐 The grill pattern, that’s all.
Wrong, wireless car play and touch screen ability and USB c ports
No fog Lights either on yours?
@@Striker50_I have wireless CarPlay.
I like everything about this car except the infotainment screen. It is too small - or at least too small for me.
Where’s that signature Mazda seatbelt chime? Also screw that radio, someone needs to tell Mazda it’s not 2015 anymore
What’s wrong with the stereo? It’s a Bose
@@2004cyrus not the sound system itself, the infotainment system screen
@@mattdudenothing wrong with it, plug your phone in , push knob to the right and it becomes touchscreen with car play , can’t make it any easier lol
the only thing i don't like (i am not hating) is cup holders :|
The hand at 16:52 scared me lol
😂 Josh was riding along in the backseat on this one

It's incredible that Mazda has NOT changed the body style OR the interior of this car since 2017!!! That is NINE model years with the same body style! I can't think of any other car company that goes this long without body changes to its vehicles. The CX-5 is already tired and boring! It certainly needs a significant refresh to make it exciting again. You're hearing this, Mazda????
Same w/Nissan Murano. 2024 still has a CD player. Luxury interior w/ power tilt/telescope. Will lose V6 engine in 2025...
much better than CX-50 in terms of every aspect!
Mazda is ok for their reliability.. but for example tire pressure.. if you have some problem there you actually don't have information what tire has issue, what pressure is there, etc.. it is catastrofic feelings when you are driving and just have information about this issue but don't know what exactly is going on..
Use your eyes and hands, you will know which tire is going bad.
@@alvinsimba734 you can say the same about all the systems that helps drivers to drive.. what a stupid comment you provided
@@alvinsimba734 you can apply your advice probably to all features of new cars 😂
This model is definitely long in the tooth.
We all still love it. I just bought a 3rd one for my better half.
As much as I love the CX5, i find it dated. They're due for a redesign. Facelift/resfresh isn't enough
I have cx 50 because of design
What no REMOTE START on top Level trim !!!!!
Cruickshank Inlet
It’s a good value for a non turbo version. The turbo version is overpriced.
