Karin, this is absolutely wonderful. I find myself having to stop and pause many times to be sure I get the steps right. I messed up right at the end when trying to make the shadows on the LOVE letters right and ended up making the lettering black! I couldn't undo it enough. Wahhh!
Ohhh no! Did you have to redo the whole piece? I hate it when that happens 🙈 Although I find that it always looks better the second time around anyway 😄
I completed this tutorial earlier today. Pretty happy with it in the end. I had to rewind several times but it didn’t take that long to complete. I posted it on IG. I just watched it back again and see that I missed setting the one layer on Overlay. My Apple Pencil stopped working around that time and I couldn’t figure out why until I realized it was no longer connected to the iPad. Thanks Karin for all you share with us. I think I need to take down written notes. I forget from one project to the next how to do certain things…clippings mask, alpha lock, when to use multiply, overlay, etc. I think I need to commit to doing a project everyday until it becomes second nature using Procreate. Also I had a very hard time getting the same effect you got. Tomorrow I’m going to work with it again.
It came out really nicely! I definitely recommend daily practice - remembering all the blend modes is super hard when you don’t use them that much 🙈 PS: check if your Watercolor paper layer is set to ‘Multiply’ 😇🤗

I put every new thin on its own layer for this very reason!
