      the instinct to collect and to some extent, hoard, probably evolved through natural selection. those who had a compulsion to surplus equipment and food, equipment being vital to the procurement of the latter, survived and reproduced. today, many people gave adapted to the big city environment where everything is provided for them, and have lost this instinct for the most part.

    This actually opened up my eyes to a lot more ways to carry a neck knife.
    I've been carrying a lot of EDC neck knives, and over time, I've grown a few preferences to carrying neck knives.
    I've found:
    -If you're running, get e knife with a longer lanyard (down by your stomach), so that it's not as obvious.
    -Parachord is better than beads (especially for running and walking), unless you live in a hot area, in which it starts to smell bad (I sweat a lot, and I have a specific color of neck knife, and not a color of Paracord to match it.
    -You need a happy middle ground between low carry and high carry. If it's too low, it'll get caught on tables, and if it's too high, it's too obvious.
    Also, Zac, the bullet ant is known to be the most painful bite in the insect kingdom, and is comparable to getting shot.

      Hi men, it seems u know a lot about this type of knives. In your opinion, is the crkt minimalist a good neck knife or it is too uncomforable?

    • @beentheredonethat5908
      @beentheredonethat5908 2 месяца назад

      @@albaeivanp7493Garbage! Neck knives are mkre kf a inconvenience and a waste of money. An edc clip folder KS far superior in everyday. A neck knife is for military and an extra hiding place, zero convenience at all, the sheaths actually do wear out, then a knife falls down your shirt, they are tk small for a good grip for more then a few seconds, great if your tied up or in a hostage situation, for everything else straight bull sh1t

    Worn a neck knife for over 15 years. Type of work I do (construction and renovation) I would use it at least twice a day on the job. Also use another 1 or 2 days on everyday tasks (opening boxes, flipping lid on my beer bottle, etc). I lost so many pocket knives I decided to change to a neck knife - never looked back! For me brand not important as long as it is discrete, robust and holds a good edge. I have the same one for at least 5 years now and still going strong, despite a lot of abuse and sometimes using it as an incorrect tool - it's just always handy!

    • @ViewingCasually
      @ViewingCasually 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@acid6urns I mean it’s a cheap steel on the lower end of things, but calling it shit is a matter of perspective. It’s a 30ish dollar knife that’s handy to pull out when you need a sharp piece of metal. It’s not like your betting your survival on a 2 inch knife. Why would you build a 2 inch letter opener out of some super steel?

    • @acid6urns

      @@ViewingCasually i didn’t say super steel. i said 5cr is shit. it’s literally worse than 440a. they use 8cr on other minimalist at the exact same price which is an objective upgrade in every way and there’s no reason to NOT use something like that or 12c27.

    I just found your channel and I love you guys...great humor! I love my neck knives and although they are not my primary cutting tools they do have multi uses. The fact that I have a neck knife readily available is (psychologically) comforting in the woods. Quick deployment. Visible. Strangely, other hikers step to one side of the trail when they see me coming; it could be the military tactical look with the neck knife :) My favorite neck knife is a Mora Companion conversion with a 4" ferro rod (or a Bic) attached with industrial Velcro. Total weight is 4.8oz including a 40" 550 hanger. I sawed off the sheath belt loop and smoothed the edges with sandpaper. In my backpacking trips around the world I never lost a neck knife. I've lost four pocket folders either by confiscation or just misplacement. The confiscation was at an airport when I forgot to put it in my checked luggage...my most favorite Spyderco, too. Yeah, it sucks to run with a neck knife but a sliver of duct tape will resolve the problem...that is if you don't have chest hair:)

    I purchased a small clear kydex neck knife sheath for my UTX 70 from you guys and finally have a knife I don't mind hanging around my grape. I agree that weight is the primary determining factor when it comes to neck knives, so I made a simple paracord neck lanyard and find this to be the perfect combo for me. Zac & Ben....try this set up for one full week and do an update video. I believe that one of you will change your minds. I wear mine outside of my shirt because of the knifes size, most people think its a flashlight; this really amuses me of course.

    My new favorite channel! I carry a beautiful Murray Carter necker everyday along with an Emerson Super Karambit as my edc. Karambit is strictly for self defense and cool factor since I can’t seem to sharpen Emerson blades lol.
    I’ve been carrying a neck knife everyday (or most days at least) for at least 6 years or so. I’ve used and like my crkt minimalist, Emerson LaGriffe, and Alpha Knives Baghdad Boxcutter (nice Damon Lusky custom, but way to heavy for a neck knife, but I carried it that way for a solid year until I got the Carter).

    I carry the Ruko Neck & Boot knife. I bought this knife probably over 10 years ago and I thought it was one of the worst purchases ever because I could never find a use for it. I lost the clip, the chain broke so it was just a knife and a sheath. But I made an adjustable Paracord necklace for it and it's actually very comfortable. I even wear it when I sleep. You guys brought up a very good point, I rarely use it because my muscle memory doesn't go to "neck" when I think "knife." But the SECURITY, knowing you have a blade on you (or another blade) is such a big relief.

    I love neck carry. First: fixed blade. Second, having a gut makes neck carry easier. I took the kernals out of 550 paracord, threaded in ball chain and with the magnetic leather sheath I was in LOVE. So much better for me! Ball chain can snap so I have less worry of being strangled. I'd not hesitate to remove it around farm equipment or machinery like lathes. I didn't go light-weight or short over all length with my neck knife. I carry Bark River Adventurer II. It's the top EDC for me.

    I just bought the CRKT Minimalist drop point. I intended to horizontal carry it for easy access while fishing. I wore it around my neck for the last two days. I may just keep it that way. The first day I completely forgot it was there. It is so comfortable and concealed under the shirt that I realized it was there when I removed my shirt. When the weather breaks I’ll add the clip and head to the water and see how it goes. But for now, it really is a great and light weight edc neck knife.

      It's a legal thing, spyderco patent ran out on the spydie hole so they bent trademark law to keep others from using it, now they have to put it on every spyderco in some way to keep it a trademark. If a non-spyderco has a round hole, they got permission (benchmade griptillian line), are not subject to U.S. trademark law (ganzo) or it isn't round (oval shaped shaped for example).
