"Life is a beautiful chaos (even when it looks perfect on social media), but out of this chaos, we create our beautiful life story". There is something for everyone in this wonderful video. It is not just about how to relocate to Portugal (although it is covered in length), it is about this courageous woman's fighting spirit to overcome her struggles to forge a life she dreamt about and ultimately made it her reality. Her beautiful life story. Thank you for the gorgeous scenic images, the thorough explanations filled with practical examples and, above all, the message of hope - for all of us - that we can begin anew.
Dear Daphna, I have to tell you that your channel is not only helpful for people in their 50s. I am 36, but I find it very inspiring. I think we are living in a time when we are generally redefining the concepts of age and what should be done at a certain age. Cheers!
Taveira is a beautiful place. It’s one of the locations I visited as a potential retirement option just before the last pandemic. Learning Portuguese and enjoying the healthy food culture was key.
Daphna, the more I watch your video's, the more I learn that my life has just begun at 53 in 2024, I am confident, I don't care about what people think of me, and I look good too, I removed all the toxic people from my life. 🌷🌷❤

Well done Daphna, anything is possible if you are prepared to give it a go. It's surprising how you learn and you can make things happen. I came to live in Spain at 49 for one year, and have been here ever since, this is my 9th year. I love the slower pace of life and the culture the climate. It was honestly the best thing I ever did. I've learnt so much about what is important in life. And have found hobbies that I never had before. I heard someone say on a video a few years ago, when ever they have taken a risk it's usually paid off. So taking the risk is better than regretting not taking a chance. 🌸☀️🌸
It's good to be reminded that instead of wasting a lot of time dreaming or worse fretting about what if we better use our time and energy to make conscious choices and sacrafices to make our dreams into achievable realities..

Thank you Daphne for being real about the difficulties in your life as well as the good. 4 years ago I moved in with my Mom as her caregiver. She had Parkinson's Disease. He's been coming to visit and support every other week all this time. I now have a house in 2 different worlds and neither fully suits me. If we keep the original it needs a lot of work (built in 1907). A lot of processing and decisions to be made. At age 59, I'm concerned about how I want to live this second half of my life. In the meantime, I have caught up with watching all of your videos and just subscribed.🙂

Hello Daphna. Portugal is my "hidden" dream.. I am from a South American country where the problem when filming is not the people crossing in front of you, but that the camara wouldn't last a second and somebody would steal it. The information in this video is invaluable, gets me in touch with the more down to earth things to think about. I am loving every video; thank you. I still don't see the change I dream of so close.. But who knows.. Your videos are becoming an important part in this process!
Daphna, happened upon your channel and now am a follower. Cant tell by your ascent where you are from (guessing German)? I see you are now in Portugal, but were did you spend most of your adult life.
Decision and personality are the two words necessary to face a move from your country to a new place. I have traveled a lot throughout my life and I know that I will reach new places and fight every day with new things, places and people is sometimes complicated. The experiences of the 50s and 60s must help us to face all these types of challenges. At least in my case it is like that. Congratulations for your decision.❤
I love the balanced transparency of your videos. They are a wonderful resource for people. I was in Tavira for a short time this winter. The ferry to the amazing beach and the lovely town itself would make it a top 3 place to stay/visit in the Algarve for me so far. I would agree with you about the car. There are many lovely places in the Algarve but if I were to live there any of them would feel a little constraining. With a car, all of the Algarve opens to you and trips up to Lisbon or to Seville in western Spain are easy. Best of luck to you on your journey.
It's been a couple of months, hey? We all need a little space. Oh, Daphna, you had me until ice cream. Used to be 220 and a runner for the better half of my life. Memories. Today, 165 lbs, however we no longer run anymore. Now, cycling def works, and we do have our own share of the Atlantic Ocean... the left side. But seriously I would immediately balloon up to 250 just thinking about moving to Portugal. Ice cream oh yah, but only in my dreams. You are so bad. 1/2 of your videos show you sitting and walking with a cone in your hand. How on earth do you stay so skinny? Come to Portugal, Maine, dear. Ok, so we spell it a bit differently here... Portland, lol. I do enjoy your videos... and sometimes bad can be very good, say what?
@@Daphna. My story was Tom Bradysque, I came home early from Boston and decided to stop at the local library. I was a construction consultant on the Big Dig and helped new contractors meet qualifications to bid on state contracts for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I loved every minute of every day of it. My partner of 16 yrs was a police captain, and when I saw her walking in I assumed she'd seen my car out in the lot. The next door neighbor was also there. I didn't give it a second thought, that is until light dawned on Marblehead. I guess they'd been seeing each other for over a year on the q-t. It hurt like hell. I naively thought we were the exception. We had a special relationship. I moved out a week later. Never said a word, never spoke about it and never looked back, but it hurt for a very long time. About a year later I came out of my near deep depression and gave it one more try. A lot happened after that. I was invited to a housewarming cookout put on by the buyer for the builder of a beautiful new home, and in talking with the new owner, a VP from an international accounting firm, an attractive and personable tall woman, we suddenly realized something extraordinary was happening neither of us had been expecting. Somehow we managed to christen the kitchen countertop without bothering a single one of the guests outside. Reluctantly I left the barbeque two yrs later. True story. Unfortunately almost three years later I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke which left me paralyzed from head to toe. Doctors told my sisters I had less than a week to live. I had no illusions, none whatsoever. I hadn't expected to recover, however, somehow miraculously I regained 85% of my mobility thanks to three tireless, outstanding physical therapists, but it was really hard. It was then, either way, I knew I was done with relationships. That was almost twenty years ago!!! I guess we truly never know when our time is up. I'll be eighty on July 4th. C'est la vie, Daphna. Thank you for sharing your own special story. You def have the right attitude and the indomitable spirit of a survivor. I'm happy for you and especially for all of the men and women for whom you have chosen to light the way forward.
Loved the video Daphna - interesting and informative. You’ve probably covered this topic before but what about language? Do you speak Portuguese? Spanish? Are you learning Portuguese, or is English enough?

LOVE THE SHOW! i go to lisbon a lot! i live in london and hastings on the sea in uk-
It's been a couple of months, hey?
What you do every day matters more than what you do from time to time😊
Where in portugal is that? I lived in Lisbon but dont recognise that area, looks maybe more north?
She’s in the southern region of the country. She mentioned Tavira and has some shots in other areas.
Loved the video Daphna - interesting and informative. You’ve probably covered this topic before but what about language? Do you speak Portuguese? Spanish? Are you learning Portuguese, or is English enough?
Work in progress 😂❤️
Haha yeah 👍🏽 totally get it :)
