Visited Europe for the first time last year and am looking into spending much of my remaining years there. I’m in my fifties and your messages provide a voice to very similar thoughts I have with my inner dialogue. Thank you so much. 🙏
Thank you Daphna, you have created a much needed platform for women and men. At the same time, growing a community of like minded spirit's. I celebrate my 66th spin around the sun in July and absolutely love travelling alone. It just fills my cup to overflow ❤😊❤
Hi Again Daphna. Your insights are on point. Its romantic to thing about buying and fixing up a 1 Euro country house in a remote mountain village. But it's much more practical living in a large city with access to restaurants, shopping, hospitals, public transportation and year-round Entertaiment. Being from America and living in Athens, it's such a joy to walk to everything. Get fresh baked bread in the morning. Farmers market every Thursday. No real need to get in a car and fight traffic. Daily city living in Europe is so much more enjoyable than the USA.
Great video, I think you made the right choice. I lived 10 years in the Philippines and it's fantastic there but I moved to Spain because here you have everything, free hospitals, no traffic jams, and great roads but July-August feels very hot here. I considered the Algarve but landed in Malaga province, which I never regretted.
I just found your video's and they have been really helpful. Just starting the process of thinking of moving abroad and becoming informed. Thank you for all your helpful advice. I will be binge watching all you have to say!
After watching a few of your videos, I really do appreciate the topics, contents quality and presentation. Keep up the good work and I will definitely be watching more of your videos. Thank you.
One small piece of advice, don't let other people's fears stop you following your dream. I travelled from Ireland to Vietnam, then onto Cambodia via the Mekong Delta. Stayed in Pheon Penn, for a week. Bus up to Siem Reep. Christmas daytrip to Ankor Watt. Overnight bus to South Cambodia and onto an island, where I stayed in a grass hut for 2 weeks. It was paradise, and yes, I did it alone. You go girl ❤ Love from Ireland ❤ I did this at 60. X
What I am looking for most is that inner peace you seem to have found in Portugal. I have seen that inner calmness in several people that moved to Portugal. In the United States too many people are running on the bigger, faster, more treadmill like the Energizer bunny. Inner peace and ocean view.
You Daphna (like myself) who left the same city and relocated to a new relaxed reality, you are not only a confident individual, but also a person of the world (which means you are not stressed not to be surrounded by your likes). I feel the same. What counts is good people around me, a complete secular environment and my privacy. I bless daily my decision to stop living in a poisoned stressful surroundings. How lucky I consider myself when I jog through the woods with the notion that life goes on a “boring” manners.
Hi Daphna, this was a an interesting list. I am just a bit older than you, and I've been driving since I was 16 and I've never heard of a security code for your car. Perhaps it's a European thing? I drive a Mazda2 (now)... but I am in Canada and maybe we just don't have this (or need it). :) I think your last point is very important. When I lived in Portugal (for 3 months), in the winter, I was near Peniche, & Baleal. I absolutely fell in love with the area, but I know that both most likely quadruple (if not more) because of summer tourism. The house I rented was about 6-7 minutes from Peniche & Baleal, and I think that would be a bit better... it's a bit more residential (although every village and town it seems have 'surf camps'). I'm an introvert as well, but it's important to me to be apart of the local community... be amongst more Portuguese people - however I really do appreciate all the people I've met through the expat communities online. :) I'm hoping to move back to the area permanently and start my life in the next chapter. Cheers ~
I want my cake and eat it to. At 62 and from New Zealand, no 2 on the world safety Index, because NZ helped protect Greece in the second world war, we are granted retirement rights in Greece. I'd love to rotate seasons between my beloved country and perhaps a Greece Island. I'd have to say though I would need projects. Local community projects or furniture making or helping out in Vine Yards. And of course learning the local language.
We live 10 minutes drive to groceries and medical centers, 15 minutes to a big hospital and 20 minutes to an international airport. These were important factors in our decision to buy property here.
Have you considered to visit Morocco, many expat too and has many beautiful places, cheap, people friendly, good food, and not far from where you are, low cost companies are serving.
I imaginwd Sicily was on your list that's why i mentioned it!i live by the Jonian sea 10 km from post Taormina.I have a deep knowledge of my island, please when you decide to come please write me ad i can help you to organize a fantastic trip(Sicily is like Portugal , bad infrastructures you know...)
Daphna, these intel couldn t have come at a better moment in my life. Let s just say….you…found Me 🤷♀️. Thankyou for all that beautiful energy. I would like to know, where? Did you choose to settle in portugal?
Love your content and relatable communication style to your audience. Prior to retirement did you have a career in the corporate world or in communications? You have professional skills so I am curious😊
Yes….close to the beaches, the port, the airport and hospital all within ten minutes from home now…transport at my doorstep or take my car. Plenty of expat/ foreigners here although not in my native tongue so fuels my desire to learn Español. My new home feels quite touristy in summer, a far cry from where I come although getting acclimatised to four seasons is very different….I’m used to two seasons, wet n dry. And something I thought important was closeness to the airport as for exploring new countries n areas it’s only say three hours to almost anywhere in Europe or Nth Africa…..looks a bit cool still for swimming there hey 😊🙃
@@esbiermann62 I look back at how I ended up here, it was after living n working in the eastern Mediterranean that I ventured West and after a few stopovers here, it just felt like the place tick many boxes although still many unticked but it’s a great place to set up a bolt hole/ base….the place is Palma de Mallorca
Best time to visit Portugal is May June. I live in Cascais and 47 y in Portugal Alentejo is the Best place to live if you want a peacefull environment. Summer is too hot and too crowded. Forget Lisbon during July to September
you are a very hi value woman. interesting and intelligent and certainly beautiful. you will not be single for long . having said that you are enough. As i sail here and there with my dog i am enough. one must have emotional intelligence

Really? Move to Midwest, and you will slow down. There are plenty of affordable country communities with nothing but peace and tranquility.
Great and interesting content in your Videos; Thank you so much to speak about his topic. You seem so happy. Congrats for this move!
