I know it's not souly a spit out, but when I saw KJ on here I immediately thought of his putt for par on hole 16 final round at 2021 Worlds that rolled into the water and his spit out followed right after.

james conrads shot didnt go in because if you look closely the chains are crossed and not sitting properly!!!! it is a shame. the card before them must not have fixed the two crossing chains look at time stamp 6:31!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some people get annoyed when I go through my full putting routine when it's a gimmie. Footage like this is why I do it. Hard to watch without cringing. But great segment to highlight how this even happens to great players too.
Do a shortened one. Full routines for gimmies is a plague on the community.
@@MegaLaban12345 It's not a long routine. Not even 30 seconds. And if my card's pace is slower than people behind, I always let them play through.

Probably a stupid idea, I’m not an engineer: I wonder if less spit outs would happen if they coated the chains and pole in something softer like rubber or vinyl similar to what you see on the chains of swing sets to protect kids hands. I feel like a lot of spit outs happen because the metal transfers too much force back in the opposite direction and a soft but also weather resistant material will fix that without making it too easy for bad shots.
Obviously it might make baskets more expensive and I don’t know how durable it would be to people or the elements but its something that might be interesting to try.
It's not a bad idea to try. I personally think each basket brand is unique in that no two brands are the same. Like Prodigy and DD. I believe Prodigy has the best baskets on the market and DD is known for not catching well on the outside chains. Mach's tend to spit right through and I've had several discs hit center pole and get launched back out by Discatchers. Now that being said, maybe if each company upgraded their chain coating and made very very small improvements, I'd love to see how that'd work.
You definitely wouldn't get the auditory feedback if the chains were coated. No CHING when you're throwing blind. Maybe start with just coating the center pole. A lot of the bounce-outs are because the disc hits the pole too hard.
I am an engineer - which just means I can be dumb in a more sophisticated way sometimes... Anyway, I think spitouts would still happen, but it might change the distribution. I think the extra grip might make the right side (for righties) catch more, but the left side push a few more out. Would still be interesting to know.
Edit: it probably also would need to be applied to each link separately to avoid stiffening the chains.

A good way would be to create a standard test, basically a robot throwing a lot of discs with different speeds and trajectories, and then give a standard rating like: 92%, that would be the number of discs that the basket kept inside. At least that way, we would have an idea, and it would motivate the basket makers to improve them.

Some of these are absolutely off-center and not really chain outs.

Chains are evil. Luck should be removed from the game as much as possible. Some people naturally have bad luck because God stinks. Using sensible target and get rid of those god-awful chains and I mean God awful, it would drastically improve the sport.
Discs cutting through the centre is why all baskets should have horizontal links imo.
On the other hand one of these 3:48 was from the horizontal chains keeping the disc from dropping straight down into the basket. It hung in the chains momentarily until the chains bounced back from the impact and dropped outside the basket.

Spitouts are just an unfortunate part of the game although I do think that the pro tour should standardize a professional basket.

The ace chainouts aren't too bad until the end.... There's some rough reactions in the middle 😆😆
Need less give in the chains to prevent so much recoil. Heavier inside chains is how I built mine, works well.
Notice the common theme, most of these are occurring because they're throwing dead flat so the disc is hitting the chains square on the rim, and with the power they're putting in it's just causing it to bounce off instead of pushing into the chain sliding onto the top face of the disc and falling down into the basket.
If you hit the chains at spot with too much tension directly on the rim with the disc dead flat then it very well may spit out.
Big Jerm’s spit out at Laem Sor Beach Koh Samui Thailand during The Hyzenbrownie Open was the best! No practice round gets the smack down! :P
Ezra at the biggest stage there is and that happens. Hurt my heart when I first watched it.
Some of these I’m guessing are not perfect putts hard to tell from these angles.
