    I gotta say, your demo is the most accurate representation of the Mach 3 that I’ve seen. Like other Quilters I’ve owned, it has beautiful clean and low gain sounds. For higher gain sounds I prefer a good dirt pedal rather than cranking the gain and/or boost on the amp.

    Excellent demo. This thing sounds tremendous. I have a MicroPro Mach 2 and love it, but the Mach 3 sounds next-level to me. The Copperback seems to suit it well. Special kudos for busting out the Les Paul Recording, a guitar you certainly don't see very often. That was the first serious electric guitar I ever bought; sold it in a moment of need and have often missed it since.

    Love that clean picking around 2:28, even though I'm more a dirt/plexi kinda guy; that sounds beautiful, soulful.

    Jack, hope LA is treating you well!
    My Mach 3 is still kicking great after buying the 1st run of them (it sold out 2 days after I ordered it!)
    Just got a aviator gold (with a 1x12, as the 1x8 combo wasnt enough oomph a 12 gives) from Sam ash and it kicks ass as well, playing a Mullen steel these days but still got my 78 sho bud pro 2
    Got rid of all that pot metal bud put in those back then and has Wallace trutones (but special ricky Davis spec at 14k)
    If you ever need a guy to play with you in la for a run of gigs let me know!

    This is one of the best demos of this amp. Some other vids really made me wonder what the fuss was all about. The only problem was the demo was too short!
    Which they’d include the footswitch with these. Even Fender are doing that these days.

    The only solid state I've seen so far that has me questioning if I want a solid state over a tube or possibly hybrid. Would be curious your thoughts on this in comparison? Great playing, and now I'm off to try to see how this goes metal. Need a good amp because I'm likely about to add a decked out Kiesel and want to be able to pull full potential out of it.

      I was able to run through this combo last week. Plenty of gain on tap with the gain knob and boost knob. It handles heavy well. The limiter helps to dial in a nice tube give. Wild. I was impressed. Picking up the head version myself.

    Sounds fantastic! What is your opinion on how this sounds at bedroom levels? (80db) Also - can you speak to the purpose of the 'SPKR VOL' control? Does it act as a power scale/pseudo-attenuator? Thanks.

    • @jackryansullivan6038
      @jackryansullivan6038  2 года назад +6

      It’s actually at bedroom levels here in the video! My wife was sleeping upstairs and I didn’t want to disturb her. I though the tones were so great on the practice run that I ended up using them! Normally I would have re-recorded at loud volumes but as you can see; I didn’t need to here!
      In my opinion, it does act very similar to a power attenuation control, even though Quilter won’t official call it one. I think you would be so pleased with this amp.

      @@RJ-lf8ex I 2nd the M3s greatness at lower volume. Absolutely phenomenal amp that I haven't gotten a bad tone out of at any level. I was afraid I would have buyer's remorse and didn't want to get my hopes up. After night 1 at just 3-5% speaker volume and I knew I would be listing my digital amps for sale the next day. Worth every penny!

    I bought a Quilter Aviator Cub UK twice and ended up taking them back. Cleans were great but I could never get satisfied with the gain channel even with pedals. When I hear this I'm tempted 'again' to give it a shot. Has anyone here compared the Aviator Cub to the Mach 3? Can you get a better than ok crunch and gain (classic rock) without getting crazy loud?

    • @larrydavis3573
      @larrydavis3573 Год назад +1

      I know I'm late here and you have likely already sorted this out but I just wanted to comment for anyone this might help. I have both the cub and the Mach 3 head along with the superblock. They all have that same basic sound but I find the superblock to have the most gain for some reason and on all three the highest gain doesn't really kick in until the knob is almost all the way up. There is plenty of gain on the Cub and Mach 3 when including a drive pedal such as a Wampler Tumnus but if you're into metal I don't think any of these would be a great choice. Maybe Quilter will design a Metal version in the future. The Cub and Mach 3 are very similar in gain structure so I don't think you would be anymore happy with the Mach 3 over the Cub if gain is the issue. I find these amps are stellar for recording, they just sit nicely in a mix and have a smoothness to them that requires little to get that "Produced" sound. I haven't had a chance to use the amp live with a band, but I can only imagine the sound man would love them also. I have some good tube amps but lately Quilter has been my go-to for recording. It all depends on your purpose and style, for instance, I do anything from Country to Classic and hard Rock and for that my ears tell me these amps are GREAT!! Peace!!

    I just picked up the Aviator Cub, there is a lot I like about it but it has some harsh treble. Does this have a high amount of treble? I might consider returning the Cub for the Mach 3. I passed on the Mach 3 because I didn’t think 200 watts was necessary but if I can dial it down then perhaps it’s the route to go.

    • @joshgwalker
      @joshgwalker 2 года назад

      @@davew4539 I am loving the Mach 3! Yes there was significant improvement in the treble. In fact it was not an issue at all. On a side note I have heard very consistently from others that the Aviator Cub really breaks in well and the harsh treble goes away. I think both amps are great choices. Again I am really happy with my Mach 3 and would highly recommend it.

      I was prob the first pedal steel player on east coast go get one (ordered it the Day it hit the market)
      took 3 weeks to arrive but OMG it performed (and still performs) great!, it's the only amp I use these days and hasn't given me ONE BAD episode yet with weekly gigs, sometimes 5 a week! I've Even ran keyboards through it, sounds killer (also dobro, mandolin and banjo)
      I've recorded with it too, via the line out and has done great.

      I'm seriously thinking about this but I am cautiously waiting to hear one live at a steel show. Mostly the old Nashville 400 and the newer 112 is popular. A few use the Quilter TT 12 or 15 with decent tones. I jumped on the 1st Telonics tca 500 with a 15 inch speaker when it went on the used market. Good amp with decent tone but they seem to be falling out of favor. The Fender ToneMaster Twin was also all the rage as was the Boss Katana. Got both and well they are ok but again lacking what I wanted. I'm a bit tired of following trends and blowing money.
