Trying to decide between a Hero 8 and this camera for motorcycle vlogging. Since I prefer to dub in narration, not a problem that it doesn't have a mic.... Fantastic review!
The GoPro Hero 8 is a great camera, with lots of professional settings ( high frame rate, high bit rate, various lens angles, hyper-smooth stabilization, microphone input, waterproof construction etc.) While the Crosstour CT9500 can't match all the GoPros' features, it is none the less a very decent camera considering it's price point. Hey Pattie Cake, sorry I do not know the specific angle of view when set no narrow. As far as which camera is best - that's a hard one. They are both very good cameras for the price. I think you can't really go wrong with either one. It depends on what features you consider important. The X30 has a tripod socket and a touch screen, and a slow shutter for night time photos- the CT9500 does not, but the CT9500 shoots better time-lapse sequences, and I think better 4K. As far as video quality...I'd probably give the CT9500 a slight edge on that one, but not by much, they are both very good.

Thank you so much for this well done review. Very straightforward and to the point presentation. I had a question on the audio part. @7:12, while you were explaining, it seems the audio was very clear assuming you captured with the CT9500 without the case. Again @10:20, while you were snorkeling, the audio was crisp and clear (was it with the waterproof case?). But then at the end of the video @14:08 the audio becomes faded. Can you please explain that? Maybe I’m missing something.
Great review, pity that the camera sucks. Perhaps the one you received was good, the one I bought from Amazon.de was very disappointing. The positive things: + High quality hinged battery door and nice sd card/ports cover. + WIFI works good and the YUTU app functions correctly with the camera + Nice low-plastic product packaging. The bad things: - Video quality - Picture quality - Sound quality - Optical quality of the lens of the waterproof housing (yes I did remove the foil). - The Sony IMX377 sensor is only 12 megapixel meaning that the 20MP and 16MP images are actually 12MP interpolated by the software. The very bad thing: --- I bought this camera because of so many great reviews. When I got and unpacked the product I saw that the company is giving away expensive free gifts for customers who place a 5 star review. I don’t even know if this is legal at all. Hello Digitri, Thanks for sharing your insights. I'm sorry to hear you got a 'bad' camera. If I were you I'd send it back and ask for a replacement. I'd have to say the Best thing about this camera (besides the low price - I only paid $59 on sale for mine) is the great video quality. All my video turned out great as you can see from my review. Here's another example you can check out of the video quality that this little action camera is capable of producing. This video was shot at the 4K setting, then edited and rendered on a 1080HD timeline: ruclips.net/video/ZyUa5wWpNGo/видео.html
I bought this camera after watching this. I'll be using it whilst exploring the Philippines :) Now I need to get the audio sorted and learn how to edit like a pro :)
Hey, thank you for sharing such a great review. I have just reviewed the latest action camera by Crosstour (CT9900 offering 4k 60fps) which I have been impressed with. I would be interested to know how you feel the CT9500 and CT9900 compare. All the best, TruePreView!
Thanks for the explanation. Everything has become quite clear to me. Good explanation. I had a doubt ... in which angle do you have to leave it so that the image of the photo comes straight? Thank you
Hello Maria, Thanks for watching my review. I'm sorry but I don't understand your question regarding the angle to make the photos straight. Can you please be more specific.
Hello T Bennett, No, this camera does not have the fisheye distortion correction option that some action cameras feature, however when switched to the medium or narrow field of view(which are still pretty wide) the distortion is less apparent.
What amazon budget camera would you recommend in 60$-80$ budgetx that provides good video quality and is the most value for money in features and quality.
Hi David. Yes, in the waterproof housing this camera is the perfect choice for taking to a water park. Not sure about the FPV racing drone though it is pretty light-weight at only 2.7 ounces. If you can utilize theHDMI output then it might work, but I’m not really familiar with those set ups.
Hi - thanks for you great reviews - have you also tested the Crosstour CT9700 ? would love to know the differences except the touch screen, and remote. Do you think the image sensor is the same? I don't find any information. Thanks for your help in advance - kind regards
Thank you for your review! I received my Crosstour CT9500 a few days ago. Unfortunately, it appears that I can not record videos longer than 8 minutes. If it last more than 8 minutes, the video is automatically split into random small videos. If you or someone faced the same issue and could help me out? Thanks
have not used this camera at night, other than time-lapse sequences as the sun is fading. Most of these action cameras require some sort of video light to capture good video at night.
First of all great video and thanks for replying. My question is: is it possible to put this camera on a) a helmet for an motorcycle b) the steering wheel of the motorcycle c) if a) or b) yes, is the thing to put it on a) or b) in the package included or do I have to purchase it d) in general, is it explained in the book how to install the camera on different things e) in general, is it difficult or rather easy to install the camera on different things Sorry for the many questions just want to make sure that this device is suitable for the purposes of my friend whom I wanted to gift this :D
Yes, it is very easy to attach this camera to a helmet or a handlebar. All the mounts are included with the camera. For a helmet there is a self-adhesive base plate that adheres to the helmet, the camera then clips on or off with a quick release clip. There is also a handlebar mount that attaches using two bolts
Not really sure what you are talking about. This camera does not come with a tripod, although sometimes Amazon sells "bundles" that may include other equipment. The good news is that Amazon is now selling this camera for an even lower price now, only $79, that's a savings of $30!
Hey Pablo, I've never used an Apeman brand camera myself, but a quick check of their website indicates to me that the CT9500 and the Trawo are almost identical specification wise. They both have the good Hisilicon Hi3559 chipset, but the Apeman uses a Pasnasonic sensor whereas the Crosstour uses a SONY. Everything else looks pretty much the same, so I'm thinking that either camera would be an excellent choice, so I guess it's a toss-up.
Hello! First off I just want to say that you done a absolute great job at this review! I subscribed and like because of it! And also I have a question - Is this action camera good to use in sports activities (*Basketball*) ? for a POV way of making it look as though you are actually there? I couldn’t find many questions like this so I decided to make one myself. Thanks for all that you do sir!
Hello Palicene, Yes this would probably work fine for basketball, after all it is an "Action" camera. I can envision several ways to use it, 1-You could mount it to a player's chest using a chest harness. 2- Have someone on the sidelines holding it on a selfie stick pointing outwards and following the action, 3- mount it near the net...maybe on the bottom of the backboard looking up at the hoop rim.
TheOneCanoe Ohh okay! Thanks so much and I was going to use it via chest harness. You think i would still be able to see what I recorded with it if I had a shirt underneath though?
@@Palicene you would have to mount it on the outside of your shirt or mount it underneath with a small hole to allow the lens to 'poke' through... not sure what the officials would think about this in a 'real' game. I wold make sure the Image stabilizer is turned on. you can also get a head strap bracket that puts the camera on your forehead.
TheOneCanoe gotcha. And I’m just trying to have it so to where nobody can really see it. It makes everything awkward I would assume for people playing pickup games when they see someone in this. Is there any type of clothing out there that offers shirts that are meant for chest mounts underneath that the camera can see through?
It's hard to find these 'knock off' gopros these days. Not sure why, maybe the companies don't last long. I might need an actual GoPro soon, do you have any info on that? There are so many its kind of daunting.
Hi, just wanted to say what a fantastic review this was , but I have 2 questions , what’s the battery life like and what’s the best way to solve the audio problems, the shot you took of the waves on the beach sounded fine ?
The battery life is good. you get between 70-80 minutes per charge. The sound is too 'hissy' and low level for my liking, so I use a digital audio recorder then syc the audio when I edit the video. For natural sounds like waves, wind, birds etc. it may not be too bad, but on the spoken voice the flaws are much more noticeable.
There is one thing you sadly did not cover, and that is how it handles in low light situations, and it seems to be doing rather poorly when it's dark outside, but this is a issue even with top brands that make action cam's.
I never actually timed the battery life in regular 4k shooting, but I know I can shoot a 4K time-lapse sequence for about and hour and a half before the battery dies.
This is a great review! I'm wondering how well does the camera work in low light? thinking of buying one to record DJ sets in a nightclub ( I'd be using audio from the setup so the audio isn't a big factor )
Thanks for checking out my review. At night time I usually use a small LED video light hen shooting with an action camera. I have not used this camera in a nightclub situation, but I think it would probably be alright...you can manually set the ISO to 1,600, and that should help in a low light setting.
Hey William, I'm glad you liked the review. You are correct the h.265 codec is used mainly when shooting/editing 4K video. It basically is more efficient than h.264, allowing large 4K files to be compressed and therefore require less space on your microSD card. This particular camera ( Crosstour CT9500) only records in the h.264 codec, but a lot of other action cameras now allow you to choose between the two codecs. One thing to keep in mind though, not all editing programs support the h.265 files, so it's always best to do quick test to see if everything is compatible.
Great videos, If you were to choose a camera under $100 for good sound and video quality, which one would you choose. I am using my samsung s7 at the moment for my youtube videos and its just died on me. Thank you. Olly.
I believe the CT9500 has been replaced with an updated version called the CT9700, which has EIS at 4K, whereas the CT900 does not, so for horse riding I would suggest the CT9700.
I have shot some great time-lapse with this camera, mostly clouds and sunsets into the dark evening In all instances I've just left the ISO setting on Auto...so as the sky darkens the camera probably ups the ISO automatically.
This camera doesn’t actually shoot in slow motion like an iPhone does. But it allows you to shoot at a high frame rate of 60 or120 FPS, so that you can. Slow down the action when you edit your video. The higher the frame rate, the smoother the slow motion.
great review. some versions supply you with a mic aswell so was just wondering if that was the mic you were using. also i searched for ct9500 on uk version of amazon and didnt find anything. do you know the uk equivalent name
The version with the included mic is the CT8500. I have not tested that model yet, so I'm not sure how well it performs, but having a plug in mic is a great idea. I checked the Amazon UK site and could not see the CT9500 (or an equivalent) model listed. My only suggestion is you purchase it from the link I've provided in the description above (Amazon US). Shipping would probably cost you more though, assuming they ship it to the UK...but this really is a very good little camera for the price. Cheers.

Thank you very much for this really detailed review! Great Video!
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Thank you for the review.
I currently look for a budget action cam. Now I have order this one on Amazon.de.
Thanks for watching.
Super review. Many thanks
Best camera review ever!! Thank you so much!

Thank you for this excellent review!
Your welcome!
Outstanding review!
Thank you. This is one of the best action cameras I’ve tested. Glad you enjoyed the review.
I bought this camera after watching this. I'll be using it whilst exploring the Philippines :) Now I need to get the audio sorted and learn how to edit like a pro :)
Wow, the Philippines - sounds like a great adventure! I think you’ll be happy with this camera - it has performed very well for me.
Very nice review, thanks a lot!
Thanks
Hey, thank you for sharing such a great review. I have just reviewed the latest action camera by Crosstour (CT9900 offering 4k 60fps) which I have been impressed with. I would be interested to know how you feel the CT9500 and CT9900 compare. All the best, TruePreView!
I’ve not used the CT9900 (yet), but it looks like a pretty nice camera with 4K @60 fps and an external plug-in microphone.
Absolutely great review! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it.
Incredible review! Well done. Impressive
Thanks.
Great review. Highly professional. Thank you.
Thankd
Great review! Thanks a lot from Germany!
Thanks for watching from Germany!
Great review and video! Precise, to the point. Does CT9500 have fisheye distortion correction built-in? Thanks.
Hello T Bennett, No, this camera does not have the fisheye distortion correction option that some action cameras feature, however when switched to the medium or narrow field of view(which are still pretty wide) the distortion is less apparent.
Great review! Thanks for this.
Do you know, how long one battery charge will last in the time lapse mode with 1 picture every 60s?
Great review! Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome!
What amazon budget camera would you recommend in 60$-80$ budgetx that provides good video quality and is the most value for money in features and quality.
You earn a subscriber! This is an awesome review!
Wow. Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for subscribing!
Wonderful review thanks. i just bought one myself, pity for the audio and tripod though.... Subbed ! thanks
Thanks for watching, and thanks for subscribing. It’s a pretty impressive camera for the amount of money it costs. Hope it works out good for you.
What about the HDMI port? Could I use it to stream with it? Also, by far the best review for an action camera.
I believe the HDMI port is just for playback.
Very well structured. Acts serious and informative. A role model for many youtubers! :-) Top!
Thanks, I hope to have more like that in the future.
Nice review, thanks
This is a very accurate review, thank you very much!
Your welcome, thanks for watching.
Great review ! Thanks a lot !
Hope you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
would you recommend this for a water park trip and a fpv racing drone? great video btw
Thanks
Great review!
What is your night time experience with it?
I am looking for a beginner action camera for mainly shooting at night.
have not used this camera at night, other than time-lapse sequences as the sun is fading. Most of these action cameras require some sort of video light to capture good video at night.
Good honest review thank you 👍
Your welcome. Thanks for checking out my review.
First of all great video and thanks for replying.
My question is: is it possible to put this camera on
a) a helmet for an motorcycle
b) the steering wheel of the motorcycle
c) if a) or b) yes, is the thing to put it on a) or b) in the package included or do I have to purchase it
d) in general, is it explained in the book how to install the camera on different things
e) in general, is it difficult or rather easy to install the camera on different things
Sorry for the many questions just want to make sure that this device is suitable for the purposes of my friend whom I wanted to gift this :D
@TheOneCanoe i know its now one month ago that you reviwed this but on amazon is wrote that there is a tripod so i am not sure if you forgot this.
Not really sure what you are talking about. This camera does not come with a tripod, although sometimes Amazon sells "bundles" that may include other equipment. The good news is that Amazon is now selling this camera for an even lower price now, only $79, that's a savings of $30!
hi sir thank you for the video . very informative and specific to the device . subscribed .
I'm glad you found it informative. Thanks very much for subscribing.
Hi. Which camera do you recommend? Crosstour CT9500 or Apeman Trawo? Thank you
Hey Pablo, I've never used an Apeman brand camera myself, but a quick check of their website indicates to me that the CT9500 and the Trawo are almost identical specification wise.
There are so many its kind of daunting.
just bought this ty
Hi, just wanted to say what a fantastic review this was , but I have 2 questions , what’s the battery life like and what’s the best way to solve the audio problems, the shot you took of the waves on the beach sounded fine ?
The battery life is good. you get between 70-80 minutes per charge. The sound is too 'hissy' and low level for my liking, so I use a digital audio recorder then syc the audio when I edit the video. For natural sounds like waves, wind, birds etc. it may not be too bad, but on the spoken voice the flaws are much more noticeable.
@@TheOneCanoe thanks so much for the help, you’ve definitely earned a sub. :D
Great video, what's the best settings to use to get the most out of this camera ? Or do you use Auto for everything ?
This camera does a great job when everything is set to Auto, however I do set the EV (exposure compensation) to -5 for the best exposure.
useful thank for this review
Thanks for checking it out.
There is one thing you sadly did not cover, and that is how it handles in low light situations, and it seems to be doing rather poorly when it's dark outside, but this is a issue even with top brands that make action cam's.
We’ll , the CT9500 did a very good job recording the sunset ( low light) during the time-lapse segment.
I like it. Thank you 👍.
Great review indeed, just one thing, how much time does the battery lasts on a full charge when used to film 4k video for instance ?
@@TheOneCanoe Cool, I might invest in one so! thanks for the reply :D
Hey Mister, thank you for this great review, could you tell me what's the difference between h264 and h265 ? Is h265 better for only 4K videos ?
Thank you. Olly.
At least some good review, im considering getting this model, more for underwater shots and videos, something where you dont need that good audio.
I was very pleased with the underwater shots I captured while snorkelling with this camera.
might buy this for my horse riding! whats better, the 9000 or should i pay more for the 9500?
I believe the CT9500 has been replaced with an updated version called the CT9700, which has EIS at 4K, whereas the CT900 does not, so for horse riding I would suggest the CT9700.
@@TheOneCanoe ok thanks!!!!
Thank you again for a great review. Question: have you tried time lapse at night by resetting the iso to 800 or 1600? Thank you.
I have shot some great time-lapse with this camera, mostly clouds and sunsets into the dark evening In all instances I've just left the ISO setting on Auto...so as the sky darkens the camera probably ups the ISO automatically.
Thank you
I got CT-9500 , but cannot find how to shoot slow motion video. how you do it??
This camera doesn’t actually shoot in slow motion like an iPhone does. But it allows you to shoot at a high frame rate of 60 or120 FPS, so that you can. Slow down the action when you edit your video. The higher the frame rate, the smoother the slow motion.
TheOneCanoe
Thanks for the clarification.
What tool you used edit your kayak video, it was amazingly awesome and crisp.
The program I use to edit most of my videos is Sony ( now Magix) Vegas Pro. But most editing programs have a built in slow motion function.
You dont need to buy extra Software Just use "Lightworks" (easy2getInto&Free) or Davinci Resolve (FreeButVeryComplex) to slow down your Videos
The camera review is very good but with German subtitles the review would be sensational
great review. some versions supply you with a mic aswell so was just wondering if that was the mic you were using. also i searched for ct9500 on uk version of amazon and didnt find anything. do you know the uk equivalent name
Cheers.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
BONJOUR très bonne présentation ,complété et agréable ,la meilleure faite sur cette crostour CT 9500 un descriptif très intéressant merci a vous Eric (sud France . 11 )
