i just rewatched moneyball yesterday and it got me wondering if getting on base is the key for baseball moneyball what would it be for soccer. Is it concistency? is it average goals? Like what stats would i as a FM be looking for when building a team. moneyball is not about getting players for cheap. Its about getting the most bang for your buck given your budget.

When FM will improve finances, not only will it improve, but it will also give us options to do something more than see value inputs and outputs. Sometimes only clubs in Germany and England have money, the rest gets in debt.
Don't understand the negativity. Love the look of the development centre and club vision screen. Also the fact it is aimed more at long term saves is a big thumbs up for me. Can't wait for the release of the beta so I can get started. Look forward to your content this year.

David Lacy Are you both dumb? They’ve put in so much work this year. The whole match engine/graphics is different and there’s thousands of new features. Just because they haven’t added a whole new section like they did with “dynamics” and “social” a couple years ago doesn’t mean there’s nothing new. The club vision and five year plan is a fucking massive addition which will completely overhaul the way you play. Which is what the point of the yearly FM series improvements are. How it PLAYS. Not having useless big shiny features which are ultimately just for show and do fuck all.

I've been asking for Cup Goalkeepers to be an official role for about 3 editions of the game now and things like that will be really useful
Been playing CM/FM since 93/94 and always get excited around this time of year, saw the official trailer and was soooo disappointed, this actually got me excited again.
Club vision looks very interesting. Will really add a whole new dynamic. Before you could literally play the same way with just about every team. Now you have to adapt more to how the owners/club want to be run which makes it more interesting and challenging imo.
Club vision, if well implemented (i.e. if it really matters and helps to shape/develop clubs), it's the best thing I've seen so far. Everything else seem just minor updates to existing features, mostly cosmetic (i.e. present existing info in a consolidated way). Each year seems like we are paying more for updates than for a new game. Probably soon they will change the cost model to be a subscription based game.
Thanks for the video Jack. With club vision I'm a little worried that we will be forced to play the game in a certain way, at specific clubs. Shouldn't we as players be allowed the freedom of playing the game in way in which we enjoy?
I'm so excited for the player development tweaks and the youth intake screens. It feels closer to real life and is a good foundation for the future. In the past when my club has excellent junior coaching it never really felt like a tangible thing and intake always still felt like a lottery, this could be the start of something very special.
One of the youth guys has the same name "Arian Kalantari" as a regen/newgen I had in my Everton save back in FM18, he developed into a star forward for me hehe
Ha weird. In three separate saves I had in FM 19 there was an English newgen that appeared at different clubs called Herman Murtaugh that either became a good prem player or outright world class and all three times he was a center midfielder who was capped for England. I assume they randomly match two names from a database of first and surnames for specific countries or something, utterly bizarre that came out three times, wouldn't have thought there's too many people naming their son Herman in England these days lol.
development centre & youth intake for me are crucial and I would be very happy if youth intake give me at least one or two players to work with, nothing more.
Only problem I had with fm19 was trying to sign players 17 or 18 with high potential. They would be earning like 2k then demand to be payed 50k to sign so I withdraw the offer then see he signs for another club on 5k wages
Hey WorkTheSpace, this is my first time watching your video and this is a great video and I'm buzzing for fm 20. However I've had an issue with fm19 not sure if it is fixed in fm20. It was the regen ethnicity and name pool. I was playing as this Chinese first division team which it located in Sinkiang. If you don't know, the province is populated with majority Uyghur or Kyrgyzstani people which resulted in that most players are either Uyghur or Kyrgyzstani ethically and have Turkishish name such as Erpanjan, Arpat, abdumji etc. However it kinda put me off as all of the youth intakes are Chinese players with ethically Chinese name. I don't know if there is any political dispute over this or that Sega just completely missed about this. But it would be amazing to see that some of these ethnically minority players to develop and eventually playing for the national team. It was one of the reason I choosed the team at the start of the save, to develop these young lads or if not in real life they would probably end up on the street or never really get a chance in other jobs due cultural differences. Would really love if they could fix this. I would probably cry if they did and finally I could see one of my lads be playing on the international stage.
All of that, all the new stuff, can be just part of an update. I can't believe that this is the new game. I bought every FM game before, but this, I won't give money for this update.

How do you set additional parameters when playing in Fantasy Draft mode? I can only select clubs, nations and player values? How did you make it only over 34 years old or only wonder kids???
Because their engine isn't great and engine work for any game is a bigger project than a menu change. They need to spend one year where they give a team only the engine to work on and you'll maybe get something out of it
The game is great, it's so complete that is hard to think how FM could be even improved. Having reached such a high level of simulation, I really hope that SI will start to make new games about other sports like for example tennis, F1 or basketball in the future.
There is still a alot to improve (even tho it is freaking great already) Some examples 1. Better engine better graphics 2. Game needs to be harder. After a few years you get like 100 Mio. every year as a transfer budget 3. Friendlies, League Games or the CL final feels exactly the seem. 4. Better/harder transfer market 5. No more OP newgens 6. A lot more of different question/answers 7. A bit more tecnical options like how far your LB/RB moving forward or how to play in attack 2-3-5-1 and how to play when the opponent has the ball 5-3-2.. There is still a lot to do..but all just minor Changes
honestly i need a game thats as simple to understand as fifa manager but where you dont actually play but watch the match. fm is way too complicated for me.

Because even though you aren't cheating, it's basically the same result and makes the game a huge gimmick because every year you can sign the Messi jr that comes through. It's a realism game.

Maybe 2 or 3 of this things are new additions, the rest are simple redesigns that can be done in short space of time and added as a Patch. I will wait a month before buying to see the reviews from other users. So far it looks like I will skip this year which is a shame.

It’s not really something to enjoy, higher salary gives you better job security as it would be more expensive for the board to terminate your contract early
When do all the add on skins/badges become available once the game is released? I couldn't see myself starting a season in the Premiership with all those fake club badges...

I believe there is something like this this year, there's a new staff role of loan manager which seems to open up options. Annoyingly I wasn't able to give it a proper look in the time I had
3D game is far ,far from realistic look...it is better then before ...but they to much work on other things, and on the end whole game looks more like some statistic "Vulcan" than some good game where you can on the end of everything look good 3D game ... that must be much better ... and EA has with Fifa Manager really good 3D games in there ... just they work to much on that and not more on statistic....when we will put those two together we will have perfect game !! And it cost to far -to much ... because it not worth more than 25 Euro for piece
Update? I don't get those people... They add more and more depth in the game and now freaking great long term goals :) They don't overhaul the game and why should they? FM19 was great (600+ hours for me) and they make good features even better! greetings from germany!
You simply lack the experience of FM players I see. They are lazy as fuck in last 5 years because they don't have competition from anyone. They add "new" stuff which are just "more things to click on". There is absolutely 0 reasons that all those stuff can't be part of an update. Not to mention that they stop supporting game somewhere in march every year because they see that later transfers are done on FM Scout. That's around 8 months before the new game comes out! FM is an amazing series, more then that, to some players is food, water and air, but this has to stop!
Wish we could just buy the official Arsenal package as DLC content rather than having to buy it from the Arsenal store, because they’ll no doubt be taking a commission from it
This game still uses horribly outdated CA/PA and club reputation systems from last century (literally). How is this acceptable idk. Anyways yeah new cool menus in different color with slightly different wordings hooray.

What I really want though is to improve the AI managers, MAKE them rotate players to rest them instead of beating Manchester united because their players started the match at 77 fitness and also make better tactics for them unpredictable so we have to change our tactics and adapt to every opposition.
It's more realistic than getting an email after a red card and setting a fine, only to start a multi-generational war with the player's family. Also have you not seen Chelsea's code of conduct and fine system?
Disagree with the comments on #5 on the list, surely it's going to be harder to distinguish how much playing time a player will get/wants if it's broken up even more. Unless it's a useless feature that won't affect the game play like club doctor etc
The game tells you how much football a player is expecting in the next 5 matches making it easier to manage player playing time and give them the football they expect before they get unhappy. Completely disagree its useless.
Don't know, but it's very easy to put them back in, you just have to delete a file in the games directory. Google it and you'll find a step by step guide.

All the things except "Unique tasks on the team" were already in-game but more "hidden". I always had custom filters... There is a change there and there but nothing WoW. The restriction is stupid, i bet most of the FM fans just play their favourite team... and now they are forced to play it in a certain way. W/e ...... nothing WoW ! If any FM20 dev reads this, i have a question (since i started to play FM since 2005 and stopped on the way because too many 'new' features): Dont you think it is about time to have real humanoids players simulating the gameplay? Like fifa but on manager's style. Is that expensive to do? You can start with generic characters of course, nobody asked to move mountains, but we started with having moving dots and now we have these cheap 3d little thingies moving around from some times. Considering how much time you created "A New" FM year after year for 60e, i think you have enough budget to do it. You can just use the same game for FM21, FM22 eventually, just down the price and upgrade transfers. I can tell you for sure YOUR OWN FANS will have a blast seeing their fav. game finally evolving in this final VISUAL form... with actual humans simulating the games.

3D game is far ,far from realistic look...it is better then before ...but they to much work on other things, and on the end whole game looks more like some statistic "Vulcan" than some good game where you can on the end of everything look good 3D game ... that must be much better ... and EA has with Fifa Manager really good 3D games in there ... just they work to much on that and not more on statistic....when we will put those two together we will have perfect game !! And it cost to far -to much ... because it not worth more than 25 Euro for piece

"10 new features" = literally 1 new features, club visions, which isn't even all that new since fm19 has a feature similar to it

They don't overhaul the game and why should they? FM19 was great (600+ hours for me) and they make good features even better!

You simply lack the experience of FM players I see. They are lazy as fuck in last 5 years because they don't have competition from anyone. They add "new" stuff which are just "more things to click on". There is absolutely 0 reasons that all those stuff can't be part of an update. Not to mention that they stop supporting game somewhere in march every year because they see that later transfers are done on FM Scout. That's around 8 months before the new game comes out! FM is an amazing series, more then that, to some players is food, water and air, but this has to stop!

This game still uses horribly outdated CA/PA and club reputation systems from last century (literally). How is this acceptable idk. Anyways yeah new cool menus in different color with slightly different wordings hooray.

@@PeppiGaming good point but for me and I think most of the people we don't really care about the match graphics i think it looks decent enough. What I really want though is to improve the AI managers, MAKE them rotate players to rest them instead of beating Manchester united because their players started the match at 77 fitness and also make better tactics for them unpredictable so we have to change our tactics and adapt to every opposition.

The Code of Conduct is absolutely ridiculous. Its just meaningless clicks and adds no value to the game.
It's more realistic than getting an email after a red card and setting a fine, only to start a multi-generational war with the player's family. Also have you not seen Chelsea's code of conduct and fine system?
Disagree with the comments on #5 on the list, surely it's going to be harder to distinguish how much playing time a player will get/wants if it's broken up even more. Unless it's a useless feature that won't affect the game play like club doctor etc
The game tells you how much football a player is expecting in the next 5 matches making it easier to manage player playing time and give them the football they expect before they get unhappy. Completely disagree its useless.

Don't know, but it's very easy to put them back in, you just have to delete a file in the games directory. Google it and you'll find a step by step guide.

People for real get a life this is a total waste if time and deep down you know it.
All the things except "Unique tasks on the team" were already in-game but more "hidden". I always had custom filters... There is a change there and there but nothing WoW.
The restriction is stupid, i bet most of the FM fans just play their favourite team... and now they are forced to play it in a certain way. W/e ...... nothing WoW !
If any FM20 dev reads this, i have a question (since i started to play FM since 2005 and stopped on the way because too many 'new' features):
Dont you think it is about time to have real humanoids players simulating the gameplay? Like fifa but on manager's style. Is that expensive to do? You can start with generic characters of course, nobody asked to move mountains, but we started with having moving dots and now we have these cheap 3d little thingies moving around from some times. Considering how much time you created "A New" FM year after year for 60e, i think you have enough budget to do it. You can just use the same game for FM21, FM22 eventually, just down the price and upgrade transfers. I can tell you for sure YOUR OWN FANS will have a blast seeing their fav. game finally evolving in this final VISUAL form... with actual humans simulating the games.

every year that passes more junk to slow down the game. Boring game.
