Ryan Reynolds is Canadian but he also got his US Citizenship in 2018. He lives full time in New York State.

This coming season is Wrexham's last year of a (relatively) easy go.
By that, I mean that the owners have both the commitment and the finances to field a squad which could plausibly go up from League 1 to the Championship. They could manage this without outside help or a dramatic improvement of the owners' bank account.
Once they reach the Championship, something spectacular needs to happen. That is a very competitive league - arguably the most competitive in English football, given everyone's motivation to get to the Prem. And the gap between Championship and Prem is more dramatic than between any other two leagues in the pyramid.
Reynolds recently sold his ownership stake in his mobile phone company, if I'm not mistaken. How much of that money reaches his pockets, I have no clue.
Even if he gets the whole bundle ($1 billion US, pre-tax), he will still be miles behind the finances required to assemble a competitive premiership side.
Perhaps he can attract a number of well heeled partners to invest as an ownership collective. Perhaps some tech billionaire will buy in and simply take over. But, as it sits, the top of their bounce is mid table Championship - at best. And that is far from guaranteed.
This is not intended to be a disparagement of Reynolds, McIlhenney, or Wrexham. It's simply the financial reality of football.

One thing not mentioned is the plans they have to expand the Race Course ground. The renovations will bring in more revenue and bigger sponsorship for the stadium.

Thank you for the Canadian correction. It's greatly appreciated. I know he was talking about their careers being in the US, but your acknowledgement of the difference is still appreciated.

I would like to know more about the academy and how it works, we have a really good young defender Max Cleworth that came through the academy with the first team.

3 of the players on that pitch are no longer at the club. I can’t argue with too much in this video though. League 1 is a big step up and I’d expect a consolidation season in 24/25.
I think they’ll concentrate on keeping the club sustainable and improving the ground, training facilities and the hospitality infrastructure etc for 2-3 seasons.
At that point it’ll depend on whether they’ve managed that while keeping all of the new interest in the club.
It depends though, the players they sign this summer and January will tell us more.

I appreciate this video from you guys. I watch specially EPL as a national league and I’m still learning ‘the come up’ of teams being promoted etc.
My best bet besides yall is FIFA (the video game, and they don’t even call it that anymore lol).
I do agree with Daz though, I think Wrexham makes it’s sooner rather than later. The teams I remember (based on FIFA again lol) that are spending the most are teams that sort of plateaued. The only thing stopping Wrexham is money forreal. I’d said 6-9 years before EPL starting this coming season.

The problem for me with the Premier League is the same problem with MLB: no salary cap. The rich get richer and stay in the hunt. NFL and NHL have salary caps which means your hometown team must rely on scouting of amateur and pro players, drafting decisions, training and of course coaching (and team work/cohesion). That the Yankees, for example, aren't in or near the World Series every single year is a testament to how crappy their organization is. My hometown team, the Pirates, have a great young pitching talent, Skenes, (and other young players with talent and potential), who they have drafted and begun to develop, but Pirate fans know they will likely have him/them for a few years then they will be in (Yankee) pin stripes (or some other rich team). Consequently, who effing cares about baseball? Go Steelers! Go Pens! F baseball.

This is correct the Dodgers have 314 million dollar payroll vs. 100 million dollar payroll for the Pirates. So yeah F baseball.

If Wrexham gets bogs down in League 1 or the Championship it will be interesting to see if Rob and Ryan stick around as owners. Right now they are on a meteoric rise, but what happens if that stalls out? What if Wrexham gets stuck in League 1 or the bottom of the Championship for 4 or 5 consecutive seasons? That doesn't make for great tv. If that happens, I think that both Ryan and Rob will leave quickly and quietly.

    • @Yash-hr3uv
      @Yash-hr3uv 16 дней назад +1

Then you thought wrong. It's not surprising that you got almost every part of your comment wrong, because I'm gonna assume your only knowledge of Wrexham is what you see on social media. 1. It was never just about the show, it was to own a team. The show's success or failure has nothing to do with why they bought the team or why they own it. The show is only used to help the team, not the team helping the show. 2. Ryan and Rob have said they have fallen in love with the town, and that even if the team struggles, they have grown from just caring about the team to the people of the town as a whole. It is why they spend more time in Wrexham than they do anywhere else (other than their own homes). Ryan has also said he is looking to buy property in the area. 3. American docuseries on sports focus on bad teams as well, and Rob and Humphrey Kurr have said that they expect to have seasons of failure, but that's ok, because that still makes good tv and that there are still many stories to tell in the town. 4. Rob and Ryan have already begun to seek outside investment and have sold minority shares to help finance the team. They have even admitted when they first got the team, they would only leave if it became financially unsustainable, but the team is self sustaining now and thus they have said they never want to let go of this club or this town. That might not mean a lot coming from most owners, but considering these are actors who have their own PR firms, they understand the consequences of lying. They have even said that if they are bad owners or leave the town, they will never live it down to the public nature of their lives. How in the world do you seem them leaving "quietly" considering how much media scrutiny is on Wrexham and them as people 24/7?? I'm genuinely baffled that is an opinion a grown adult would take. All people like you see is "rich actor comes in for show, will leave when there is no show." That is such a simple-minded and factually incorrect perception, but so many people not associated with Wrexham have taken it and run with it. It is crazy.

@Yash-hr3uv Nice rant you got there. I follow all levels of English football, and football leagues all around the world. How is it possible to leave quietly? The show won't be popular forever, and contrary to what you say, most Americans don't want to watch a show about a losing, floundering team. Not for several seasons, at least. I can envision the show ending after 2 or 3 three seasons of them being stuck in League 1 or the Championship, after the show ends media publicity (at least here in the States) with die out rather quickly. A year or two after the show ends, and when media publicity is at an all-time low, then Ryan and Rob could absolutely walk away somewhat quietly. In America, we have the propensity to lose interest in cult phenomenon REAL fast, like literally overnight in some cases. When the Wrexham series first came out, everyone was talking about it, but it has already become much less of a mainstream American topic with every passing month since its release. Let's also be real in that most Americans don't like soccer, and only watch the show for other reasons. That is what this adult thinks. Now I'm not saying that it will happen that way, I'm merely saying that it is a real possibility if the team gets bogs down in League 1 or the Championship. Finally, people say shit all the time, and most of the time, it doesn't mean anything at all. Do you really think that Rob and Ryan are going to stay true to everything that they have ever said? lol How old are you, really? Great point though about them having PR teams, their PR teams can spin any situation to make it look like it wasn't their fault and that others are to blame, and issue expertly written statements about why it was the right time to part with the team.

    • @Yash-hr3uv

@@japcar84 lol, all I see are a lot of “I think” in your comments and self bashing other Americans instead of anything actually tangible, so it’s evident that you don’t intend to have a good faith discussion with logic or things that be backed with evidence. It’s clear you don’t intend to change your mind at all, so I’ll let you have this champ. Seems like you need a win in your life based on the tone of your comment. Be blessed bro
