Once again, we learn from an extremely talented young blacksmith- So glad you were able to follow your dreams in this area, Paul, I eagerly await any videos from your shop- Thank you again- I'll get there someday- Paul
hope the guy had a good time! a little thick for my taste. if anything that would make a helluva woodsman's axe. what stock was used for the axe this time. it was a little slow on the movement so it's gotta be on the higher end of blade steels
Hey Paul, Thanks for the great video, that striking anvil is a big help for stuff like this. How tall is your striking anvil....? Now I have to have one too.Thank you,Ron
Man this is really awesome! Where are you guys based out of? I love that you're teaching along the way too. Really nice. Hope to get into blacksmithing someday.
Nice work Paul.. I've never looked at axes and hammers the same since i learned how much work it takes to make a good one. Yours is a good one. Did your heat treat meet your standards?
Do you use H13 for your drifts ? That looked like pretty though steel under your power hammer. Besides, I found out that if I add a spring to my top tool handles I can avoid breaking of the handle.
Actually, visually pleasing little axe. I think you got the size of the hole for the handle right. They usually make them too small and really useless.
why make it out of a solid bar of steel/iron? even if its only for reenactment and you keep a bluted edge on it the axe will still hold together much beter if you make it out of iron and cleave up the edge and put in steel in and then weld it together. if your going to show non blacksmiths how to do it atleast get it right
same here :D, its good for acting, since you want it to be a bit more durable and therefore generally dont care that much about its weight :P just saying that historically they used to be a bit slimmer so they were easier to use for longer periods and so they would cut better with a narrower edge angle :P
"yup . yup . yup . Harder ! yup . yup . "
" How hard ? "
" As hard as you can ! "
This made me laugh so hard .
lol...me too

Marijana Brezić ne ne ne ne, dok su kovali trebali su da pevaju iz vika 😁
Marijana Brezić slavs who used battle axes also descend from vikings, and at those times EVERYBODY squated, not just slavs

Cloudy KittenAj hey Slavs don’t really do that I would know I am one

How many heats did you spend on those cheeks?
Actually, visually pleasing little axe. I think you got the size of the hole for the handle right. They usually make them too small and really useless.

So how about next time, bag the "yup, yup, yup' and just use the air hammer? ;-)
Sorry no battle axe
Piece of steel, not an axe..until you make sharp edge.
やっ....って聞こえるんだけどw
i bit too thick for a battleaxe otherwise nice work!
The student, who's a medieval reenactor, was very pleased with it.

nothing to thick for a true battle axe
try wielding one for a time and than we talk again... or just go watch lindybeige's video concerning battle axes...
THAT IS WAY TO THICK TO BE A BATTLE AXE
It says in the description that its gonna be used for re-enactment and that is the reason for the blunt edge
NorseWarriorFromNorway when did i talk about the edge?
NorseWarriorFromNorway i do hema for gods sake!
The blunt edge is why it looks so thick
radioactivated no! look at it its so fucking thick! just look at the eye and then slowly look downwards on the edge and you"ll see
Od razu widać, żeś polak. Wracaj do ojczyzny!
Is slav is good
this is the hardest thing I've ever done ...
