While I know having a clean belly button is important for belly piercings and tummy tucks, I suspect this product is just something to make people worry about their hygiene. 😅

But is this gel skin safe? I mean, $25 for two packets is ridiculous, so I wouldn't try the product anyway. (Plus, I can use, you know, a wash cloth for that. 🤣) But whatever this substance is, there is clearly a chemical reaction that occurs when you mix parts A and B together. So my immediate thought is, "Is that OK to put on your skin?!" And not just on your skin, but deep in the belly button. I imagine that if you had a reaction, it would be a very unpleasant experience because you couldn't just simply wipe it off. I'll pass on this one. LOL But super interesting video though! (As always.)
i'm not sure what you mean by it being unsafe because there's a chemical reaction. the process itself is, effectively, the same sort of thing as making making slime, or an acid-set cheese. mixing lemon juice and milk creates cheese; mixing two liquids creates a solid. obviously, that reaction doesn't make cheese dangerous. in the same way, making silicon by mixing two things together isn't dangerous. the individual chemicals might be, but they're sealed in a bag to avoid you touching or inhaling them. the end product is almost certainly complete inert, and even if it was slightly toxic, you aren't ingesting it or leaving it on your skin for a long time, so it's probably not even going to make the top 10 of most carcinogenic things you ingest in a day.

I've worked in oncology for over 20 years, I'm not worried about it giving anyone cancer, I'm worried about people having a skin reaction to it. If there haven't been a lot of complaints, then it's probably fine, but I have psoriasis and have to be very careful about what I put on my skin. Plus, I already have flare ups in really "weird" places, LOL, like the inside of my ear, so I'll stick to soap and water for my belly button.

So, I just generally tried to redirect that comment towards reassuring that chemicals/chemical reactions in general are not unsafe. The main point still stands though, as others said skin safe silicon is fairly standard and the "reaction" would have nothing to do with it being safe or not.

I have a weird belly button. It's all twisted from a surgery. I think it had too many scars or something so it's all shrivelled inside and not a hole. It get dirtier quicker and it's harder to clean even with a q-tip. So I think this product is made more for someone like me than someone with a classic circle belly button.

There were even some photos uploaded to Amazon Reviews and some were genuinely shocking. I had no idea there was room for so much dirt inside a belly button, unless people have drastically different ones to mine 😂?!
