That's a Hard No , A lot of those races were real Close and Manufactures would not Compete if they didn't think they couldn't Win or if it wasn't fair, unlike Formula 1 .The same could be said with Schumacer Era Ferrari era. MOTOGP best racing series at the moment.
Bad joke
Petty was the richest team at the time, meaning better cars, which means more wins, which is still something that happens today, but it isn’t as bad as F1 by any stretch.
No it was nothing as boring as watching Formula One in any era before him it was Schumacher I could go back to the generations no absolutely not it was never that dreadfully boring there was one year he dominated like that. Other people that had the same equipment. They didn't have the sponsorship. They didn't have Maurice cheating on their engines either🤣

Weird growing up around NC. Didn't even realize how intensely popular this guy was until I saw him in Cars as a little boy. I went to level cross elementary school. I would love one on Jeff Ward, his career is mind-blowing
· Born in Scotland
· Parents moved to the USA when he was like 5
· Age 7, he somehow comes across the team filming the legendary documentary "On Any Sunday". Jeff Ward is the little kid with the #104 minibike.
· He becomes the first AMA Pro rider that already had huge success in minimotos before
· Wins every AMA Motocross and AMA Supercross title possible at the time (125MX, 250MX, 500MX and 250SX), ends up with 7 individual titles
· 7-time Motocross des Nations winner (always with Team USA)
· Moves to the Atlantic Series (Indy Lights nowadays) because he was friends with Canada's own Paul Tracy
· Once the CART/IRL split happens, finds a spot in the IRL
· 3rd in the 1997 Indy 500
· Finally wins an IRL race in 2002 at the Texas Motor Speedway
· In 2003 they told him he wouldn't get an IRL ride witout paying so he quits. Meanwhile, the supermoto craze starts and he ends up testing with Jeremy McGrath (King of Supercross) and Troy Lee (TLD means Troy Lee Designs)
· 2004 (age 43) and 2006 (age 45) AMA Supermoto champion plus 2006 and 2008 (age 47) X-Games Supermoto winner
· 2009 = runner-up to the LOORS Pro-2 championship (trophy trucks but around a track instead of the desert)
· And, most importantly, HE NEVER PAID TO RACE
I’m not surprise. Pumphrey is a great story teller.
I second the Smokey Yunick idea. He is easily the most interesting human in the history of nascrap. Probably one of the most interesting people in the automotive industry period. Lots to weed through though. More time than is worth doing an episode, I'm sure.

My dad worked for the Petty's in the late 90's. Said Lee was a tough old SOB he lived beside the race shop and used to talk smack to the pit crews during pit practice. I got to hang around the race shop and went over to the Petty's house a couple of times. They had some of the cars from this video at a small museum at the shop. Stand up group of people especially Richard and Lynda.

@@sketchybucket6355 Better? Lol. Dale: One Daytona 500 win. Richard: Seven Daytona 500 wins. In case you claim it was easier during Petty's era, multiple driver's won multiple Dayton's 500's during Earnhardt's era and since. It's also a disclaimer that Earnhardt's success was because of his driving style. The majority of his championships didn't come from leading the most laps and winning the most races. His success came from the lack of DNF's during those seasons. Earnhardt was never voted best driver until his death when he became a martyr. In 1999 he was placed behind several drivers in multiple lists behind drivers such as Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Mario Andretti, and Junior Johnson.

Richard Petty is a NASCAR veteran. He’s NASCAR royalty. Great video 👍. I liked how James acknowledged the fact that Bubba Wallace is the first African American in 45 years to compete in the Cup’s full schedule. That’s Black excellence.
Petty was friends with Wendell Scott back in the 60s. I think that has a lot to do with Petty wanting to be involved in furthering Bubba's career. Unfortunately, he may be holding him back, though. Long live "King" Richard and the memory of Wendell Scott. Seriously, look up a video about his story. He was a beast and highly respected by other drivers!
Back in the day, a race was INTENTIONALLY taken away from a black driver not to spark a controversy. SMH. Like, wtf?
@@TheFrostyPuma From what I hear they were concerned about a race riot especially when a black man kissed the white trophy girl. (I wonder if that is really what the real concern was) A realistic fear but also an incredible slight to an amazingly skilled driver, owner and mechanic and his family and friends.
@@TheFrostyPuma He was awarded with the win a couple of days later.
@@thejman3489 yes, i know, but the trophy was apparently smaller, no champagne, no real recognition about it. The big part about winning is the glory you get, and the respect, wich he had none of! I do believe, however, NASCAR wasn't at fault. They actually tried to protect him, because again, he was a black stock car driver in the 60's, a reciepie for trouble in the southern part of your America.
