In hindsight, the camo jacket probably wasn't the best choice, but thanks for checking out and liking the video! Consider donating to Bonsai-U at bjornbjorholm.com/donate/
You should consider making courses for - or just putting this course on - SkillShare. I'm sure it would fit right in over there. I do love that it's free here on RUclips though! Keep up the good work, you're truly amazing!
You are truely a Bonsai Master and thank you for this video it clarified a few things for me that I could not find anywhere. Love these kind of video's thanks you! Please make more like this
I have lived in Tokyo for 21 years Bjorn and near my house is a 60 year old bonsai. I was lucky and brashly watched the master attend to his masterpiece. I called to him and introduced myself. He was 80 years old. I was so honoured, he offered me tea and mochi. I could see many of his bonsai, (different ages). In fact, his cactii were more than 50 years old. Some with prickly pears. He just passed away and still I am very thankful for this blessing. My love of nature and trees and plants grows and gives me inspiration and hope through this corona virus challenge. Thank you too. I will continue and pass this tradition on.
damn that Juniper turned out very desirable; needless to say, you're quite talented = hands on, speaking/teaching & motivating. Thanks for this educational entertainment. The tree is already a beauty; so looking forward to its older self. Glad i subscribed; wouldn't want to miss any of it.
I know I am late to this show by 4 years but what I have learned and what I watched transform in front of my eyes was just an amazing show of skill and knowledge.
Very helpful. It wasn't until the apex was set that magically the design came together. You have the knack of seeing the end result before you even start.
No honestly I dont get it... How can I follow that channel for so long, watch all the bonsai-u videos and yet everytime I get surprised how amazing the final result is?! Thats some inspiring content right here!
You have no idea how grateful I am of this video. I have several junipers I’ve been stuck on their stylings for a while and this has rekindled my confidence as a rookie that can’t make it to local meetings or workshops. THANKS!
It’s great to see projects like these. I don’t always enjoy watching a Master work on several thousand dollar material that most beginners can’t obtain. I think that’s such a really fine job. You took something that resembles a $30 plant from Home Depot into a bad ass Shohin Bonsai
Amazing - this is one of the few videos I've seen where the progression from whip to a primary styled tree is shown. Even more amazing is you've shown the initial creation of the Shari. Placing the tree against the lit background really shows what can be achieved with this kind of stock grown from cuttings. It's really helped me plan out what I need to do over the next few years with the handful of cuttings I've obtained. Thanks so much!
I enjoy all of your content but this one resonated the most. It feels me with excitement seeing what can be done and hoping I'll get to that level. Thanks for sharing
This was so incredibly helpful and easily understandable, especially the creation of the apex, which always was somewhat difficult for me to create properly. Thank you!
Awesome tutorial, great to see how all comes together in the end to form a beautiful tree. Especially in regards to the apex, I had no clue how you were about to fix it.
Amazing, at first I thought this plant wasn’t going to make a very nice bonsai but it turned out stunning from all views. I can’t wait to see it in it’s pot.
This is legitimately inspiring. I appreciate that you take the time to explain everything that you're doing. And I appreciate that it's explained in a way that makes sense. I'm still a novice and I have a tough time deciding how to position my branches so they look interesting without looking too contrived. Seeing branches wired in pretty extreme ways gives me a lot more confidence to experiment with my wiring. The way that you turned the apex from a little whip into what looked like a picturesque branch genuinely shocked me when I first watched it. I had to rewind to see how it happened.
Hi Bjorn thanks for sharing your work... You're just amazing in what you do. You've gave me a lot of tips to start working on new projects, I love junipers. 💜💜
This series is awe inspiring! You have answered so many questions I had & some I didn't know I had! I'm off to get myself a Juniper … I won't be making anything as small as yours but the style is something I can tackle. Since I'm almost 72, I hope I'll live long enough to see results!
Probably one of the best styling video series I've seen. Thanks for such a great video! I applied a lot of what you did with this tree to a shimpaku today.
You make me SICK! I've been doing bonsai on and off for the last 30 years, and I couldn't produce anything half as nice as that if I tried. Love your work.
Im just watching, not getting into this, I will be addicted to it instantly, i know myself. there will be no return ;-) as I love plants, thank you for these great vids.
always very good teaching and honest tutorial. liky other posted before me, i learned more in this 2 videos than on a 2 days worshop. please keep the pace of the BonsaiU!
Love these Shohin Bonsai!! Incredibly helpful dem!! I tend to cut branches before thinking of making jin or shari. You can always remove it later, but you can't put it back. Thx Bjorn!
Bonsai is an incredible high fine art form. omg, more so than Ikebana, I think. I just watch and let myself be astonished ;-) i prefer stuff like this to Netflix or Hulu.;-) this is fabulous

I wondered what you were spinning and styling! Just kidding, a great video!
Yeah - you should try to get your money back on the camo - as I could still see you. V.good video. I like your speed.
Can you please do a Japanese maple branch development video Bjorn?

very cool
That's amazing! A true dream come true for me. You must've had fun, right?
That sounds like an awesome memory! I hope he is at peace. What happened to his bonsai after he passed away?
Best tutorial on building shohin juniper anywhere on the Internet.
Great demonstration. I learned more in 45 minutes watching you than I did in a 4 hour workshop on shimpaku juniper.
agree
True!!
Lol
Blue Ridge Bonsai for certain. I never took a class but I just love what this tree turned into.
damn that Juniper turned out very desirable; needless to say, you're quite talented = hands on, speaking/teaching & motivating. Thanks for this educational entertainment. The tree is already a beauty; so looking forward to its older self. Glad i subscribed; wouldn't want to miss any of it.
yeah that juniper went from " what is that ugly thing" to " i need that" :P
Agree
One word, “wow” what a fantastic transformation
I know I am late to this show by 4 years but what I have learned and what I watched transform in front of my eyes was just an amazing show of skill and knowledge.
Very helpful. It wasn't until the apex was set that magically the design came together. You have the knack of seeing the end result before you even start.
simple language, honest sharing. Very profound in today's world.
You make this look crazy easy Bjorn it's unreal! Thanks

Are you joking ? That’s a 8 year old iotagawa shimpaku juniper that was styled when it was a few years old and they are probably $350+.

Amazing work! Bonsai is going to be a beautiful “little tree” in the future! 👌🏾
Whaou !!!

Fantastic video 👍
Great camo jacket. Thoughtful and precise presentation. Thoughts on creating shari at the base of the tree are appreciated.
Excellent video. Looking forward to the update on the tree.
Every other Thursday is my favorite day! So inspired!
Amazing! One of the best demonstrations with super useful comments in between! More please
Spectacular. A perfect presentation of a perfect designed shohin. That was made to look easy but was based on years of knowledge. Thank you!!
Excellent video and you make it look so easy Bjorn; many thanks.
Awesome tutorial, great to see how all comes together in the end to form a beautiful tree. Especially in regards to the apex, I had no clue how you were about to fix it.

I would kill for some of those cuttings.!!
If you're in the US he had them for sale on his site a couple months ago I got one.
Probably one of the best styling video series I've seen. Thanks for such a great video! I applied a lot of what you did with this tree to a shimpaku today.
Wow! I’ve seen lots of videos but this one was like a magic trick
Just wow! Never thought the end product to be that good.
