We are not a chruch. Not yet - interview with Julien Kolly gallery owner Zurich

Kolly Gallery is mainly working with graffiti artists in Zurich. As a graffiti artist, Julien understands well the needs and possibilities of exhibiting graffiti artists in a gallery. That was also my first question, because usually a graffiti artist not showing his/her work in a gallery. But Julien explained that only 1 artist from a 1000 be shown in Kolly gallery. To be an artist, one have to learn and produce artworks. The first step could be that the artist want to save his/her artwork, because public art is not always shown for long time.
We also discussed about Zurich role in the art world. Zurich is stated as a financial center but not an art center, so Julien works a lot on the international art scene to promote his artists. Three years ago he opened another space in Geneve, Switzerland also, but he shows works in New York, London.
I also asked how can someone contact a graffiti artists, because sometimes they are hiding their identity and only known by their nick name. Julien was an active member in the scene, so he knows a lot of people and he can asks for phone numbers. But as he explained, he receives thousands of applications yearly and only very few is ready for a gallery reprezentation.
