- "Shipmates Forever" was a 1935, black & white movie, that filmed many scenes on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy - affectionately known as "The Yard." I have parsed through the movie and have included only the scenes that were filmed at the Naval Academy. It is interesting to see how much the Naval Academy has changed over the years.
Bayonets are back now, as of the fall of 2015
We stopped fixing bayonets for the spring season of '04.
Why are they playing the West Point alma mater at 2:21 to 3:17 and again at 4:45 to 5:47? Hollywood!
+usna87 Very simple. Hollywood realized that West Point'a "Alma Mater Song" sounds a whole lot better than the Annapolis counterpart.
Yeah that's irritating. They did play Navy Blue and Gold at 1:29.
If it is one thing they could have messed up on, why did it have to be confusing something Navy with Army?
Middle 3's puff-piece were they at least try to depict military life accurately. I especially liked the senior class-man that gave a cadet hell for saluting indoors and uncovered. A mistake made in most films about the military. But they could not represent the hell the lower class-men have to go through during their four years at the military academies. It's grueling.
