I own this jacket and it works well.
    Several additional points:
    - In Japan, for safety, the arms are fully covered year round. The coverage of this jacket meets those safety requirements.
    - The jacket is available in a variety of fabrics. Each fabric is a different color. One of the optional fabrics is fire retardant and suitable for welding applications.
    - Disposable fan filters are available. This prevents debris such as workshop sawdust to get ingested and blown up into your face.
    - To enhances cooling, cool packs are available that insert into the mesh pockets inside the jacket.
    - Sealed tight around the waist and wrists, and the collar secure, a steady cool flow of air is directed out the collar, around the neck and to the face.
When I first wore it, people were skeptical and chuckled at its appearance, but after a short time, they became more curious and respected the concept. The jacket I have is blue.

I was thinking welding applications or even a motorcycle jacket if it were leather, etc. The concept does have some decent applications, but I'm not sure if this is the best iteration of it.

I am currently working in a big chemical plant in Germany. The Company is also known in America for cancer and some other stuff. We have to be covered at all times. Even it the summer we have to wear a long jacket and long trousers. No one knows if there is a pipe dripping. If there is some dangerous stuff we have to wear protection suits.

I've been to japan on holiday 2 years ago and they did some road work. Of course I chose the end of July/beginning of August for my trip, which meant it had 38-40°C pretty much every day. Not only did they fully rip up and rebuild an entire street in a single day (they started around 6am I guess and the road was ready to use with road marks at 6pm), which is something I just couldn't believe as a german guy, but they also all had jackets similar to this one. Their jackets looked a lot thicker, almost like a thick winter jacket, but it was all just air and they even had a little pouch for ice cubes right infront of the fans. The Japanese have a solution for every problem you don't even know it existed.

This would be amazing to only carry around a few battery packs instead of a few dozen gel/ice packs.
