Peter kay is the reason i say "How dare you" so much and the phoenix nights Ray von line "Shabba" after i sing 😀
Yeah "how dare you" is a permanent part of my vocabulary now and so is "check it out" from when Ray Von is scratching the line dancing music. Something about how he says it is just funny to me. I use it when I'm trying to impress people or show them how to do something.
The belgrano joke is reference to the argentine ship sunk by the british in the falklands. It was an ex US warship that had survived pearl harbour. A couple of hundred sailors 'went down' on her.

The theme tune is taken from an old 70s US show called BJ and the Bear.
There were no lyrics in the first episode as they hadn't written them yet when it went to edit.
The theme song of this is of course very loosely based on/parodied a late 70s-early 80s American TV show ( which was shown in the UK too) called BJ and the Bear 😜 👍 “and best of all I don’t pay property tax” became “and best of all we don’t pay council tax” etc etc 😊

'Belgrano Sisters' - ARA General Belgrano...Argentine cruiser sank by the Royal Navy during the Falklands war...prior to being an Argentine ship it was the USS Phoenix (CL-46)which had a notable service record including surviving undamaged at Pearl Harbour. It was one of the first ships to sight the incoming attack and engage with the Japanese aircraft.
Not knowing the rules of 8 ball will help in learning the rules of snooker, because there is no similarity in any way.

You should do That Peter Kay Thing. Though they are all stand alone episodes so I suppose you don't need to watch them all. One in particular is called The Ice Cream Man Cometh and it's hilarious!! Probably better than any Phoenix Nights or Max and Paddy episode.

This show is a lot more colourful than Phoenix Nights. The characters are different too. Phoenix Nights characters are exaggerated versions of realistic people. Kenny is basically an older northern version of Jay from Inbetweeners. Max and Paddy characters are a lot more wacky and eccentric but I love it. This show is good from start to finish.
I agree it's like going back in time watching shows from this era. Peter Kays comedy is very nostalgic. He lives about a 10 minute walk away from me so the jokes always hit. Very relatable. Not sure if you'd like his stand up though. A lot of references might go over your head like dinner ladies freaking out when it starts to rain a bit.

Episode 2 was my favourite of this series - not least due to the superb A-Team spoof during the episode which is a spot on homage. Well worth a watch (and with Noddy Holder from the band Slade as a guest star also.)
All other reactors leave the music in , check them out , they don’t seem to get in any trouble. The music adds context
When I worked for a company that sold tv's, the perceived wisdom was that (in storage) LCD screens could be stored in their boxes flat, but Plasma screen tv's had to be stored in their boxes upright. The reason being that the individual plasma cells making up the screen were actually open at the top, and if laid flat the contents could spill out thus rendering the screen no good. Don't know if that's true or bullshit. Whatever the reason, they no longer sell plasma screen tv's.

Snooker is like pool but a hell of a lot more difficult, its a great game to play if you have patience and love a skillful game.

The Irish "gypsy" with the van full of knock off goods had is own show on BBC called Mrs Browns Boys A family in North Dublin which is absolutely hilarious. It is based in Swords in Dublin, which on several occasions is where my Hotel was when working over there Check it out - you wont regret it. (BTW for Irish subscribers, I changed to the posher South side to stay )
