    Very nice demo. Simple melodic line played on all instruments. Limited but sufficient explanation. Wish all RUclips demos were of this quality. I just hit “Subscribe “. Personally, I am very impressed with the clarity of the 28. Thanks!

    To my eyes and ears, the 00-15 is a killer guitar...I love the sound of mahogany guitars. All three sound really
    nice. (I have a 1963 D-28..Brazilian Rosewood..that my father bought new and a Martin 000-16GT)....
    That 00-28 sounds like a Monster guitar.

    Different scale lengths though. The 00-15m has a 25.4” scale length, while the other two have a shorter 24.9” scale length. It ain’t much, but it’s worth mentioning. 🙂

    after listening quite a few times, my ears really appreciate the richness of the rosewood. if I had to have only One it would be the 00-28 for sure. if I had to pick two 2nd one would be 00-18, as I already have my eyes on a 000-15sm someday.
    I prefer the wider nut width.

    • @runnningonempty
      @runnningonempty 4 года назад

      1 year later as Martin moves to the better 1 3/4 nut width on all of their others they still stubbornly wont change the 15 series..Oh and the damn scale length is wrong on the 15 series as well ..Martin is like the stubborn Democrat voting wife that wont get their head out of their ass.

      @@runnningonempty You need to calm down!
      Here let me explain this to you .
      The 15 series is really a series on its own, and is one of Martin's American budget line of guitars. It DOES NOT follow the Standard Series rules! All 15 series guitars come with the 25.4" scale and this is a cost saving measure by Martin so they dont have to make different scale lengths for different guitars - in that series. Their way of thinking is, make one scale length and be done with it.
      As far as the 1 11/16" nut width...................who cares?
      IMO - the neck profile is more important when it comes to feel, than the actual nut width is. I can play 1 11/16", 1 23/32", 1 3/4" 1 13/16" all day with no problems. But if the neck profile doesn't feel right, it wont matter what the nut width is - I wont play it.
      And let me remind you, Martin didn't "reimagine" or update the 15 series. They only updated the Standard Series. And I really doubt they will ever make any significant changes to a series that is often overlooked compared to that of the Standard Series.
      Cheers!

    Because of my arthritis, I can no longer plan my dreadnought without pain in my shoulders from reaching around the body. I had already decided to buy a smaller body guitar but couldn't decide which model to go with until I saw this video. Thanks for helping me decide on the 00 size. I'll let you know how it turns out.

    listened to this many times, it's a great comparison video. every guitar is different, but in this video the 00-28 sounds more rich and complex (overtones), where the 00-18 seems more thin and straightforward. this could the position of the mic, which seems like it's ~2 inches closer to the sound hole on the 00-28

    • @michaelashe5265
      @michaelashe5265 2 года назад

      Yep that much placement can make a huge difference. The 18 sounded best to my ears but the 28 might have sounded better with the same mic placement

    Honestly, i think it’s the -18 for the win on tone. Clearer projection. I agree with what someone said here about the -28 rosewood working better for larger bodies. This is coming from an 00-28 owner. I’m going to check out an 00-18V today. BUT the appointments on the -28 are absolutely gorgeous.....so the -28 wins the appearance contest.

      dude!! I agree. I Love how they all sound but the 15 just does it for me, and at a fraction of the price of the others. I personally prefer the 18 over the 28, but then the 15 sounds so special.. ( I reopened in tabs side by side. the 15 may not have gloss or a dovetail but the one thing it has going for it is the fretboard and bridge.. its like back in the day before they switched to ebony. sound is so sweet and mellow.

      You can blame the government and inflation for that In the past year our currency has inflated about 25%! So 100 in 2011 is worth about $125 now when you scale that up it makes a huge difference.

      Hog is in a class of its own. Just way different, cuts out the sometimes "glassy", brittle tones of rosewood. Humidity also a factor.
