- Welcome to episode 2 of Street Food in Silom Bangkok.
Today I'm eating street food where the local office workers eat on Soi Convent Silom then headed to an amazing local street food court in Silom Soi 10 Market. I even found some khao soi and northern Thai food down a back alley

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this RUclips channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
#thailand2022 #bangkokstreetfood #thaistreetfood
Sweating like a Geordie at a spelling test ;p
Nicking that! 😂
Pinned 😂

I like hearing you speak Thai and talk to the locals. That’s what make your videos stood out compares to other RUclipsrs.
Thanks so much
The hardest thing to watch is when you know the dishes and how they taste but you're sitting somewhere in Europe, doing your 9-5 and looking out the window watching the cold rain while wearing socks in the end of May.
100%. i used to eat here nearly every day and i’m literally tasting this through the screen
Never forget the taste 😀
Haha my apologies Maya 🙏🙏🙏
She knew you needed those good fish noodles!
I am real Thai and live around Bangrak area. Your VDO makes me crazy at night. I must have Northern food; Larb moo and Khao Soy tomorrow. You are amazing farang. Thank you for your excellent VDOs. It helps a lot for promoting tourism in my country Thailand. Kob koon kha.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it!
Gary, I respect your Thai sooooo much. I hope to get to the same level some day. 😋🥰🙏🙏
It’s not great Eric honestly but I’m trying 😂
Mark Weins used to film there a couple years ago before covid. That noodle shop ก๋วยเตี๋ยวแคะ is my go-to place for lunch.
Yes I saw after I ordered 😅
Gary, yes more from Silom. As you've always said: your travel is off the beaten path. If there is more of that along Silom, please take us there!
I’ll take you to some spots don’t worry Warren 🙏
Hi Gary, I like your clips. I don't know why but I feel like you make Thai street foods much more than ordinary food. It's more than just eating street foods. This is what "Roaming Cook" is about.
Wow, thank you so much 🙏
Gary eating salad!!
First class video, one of your best, loved the Thai lessons with captions.
Time shift @ food market, the whole shebang.
Awesome work, my friend.
You can do 10 more like this for me.
.
Thank you bud, I’ll get 20 done for ya
I will recommend your channel to anyone who wants to visit Thailand at first time and understand English. Your records are so informative.
Yes, we can be choosy if selected this kind of street vender.
Thanks so much Ken
Really appreciate how you always point out how sweet in a dish, and how you could communicate to get dishes less sweet!
Definitely more street food from here! Glad you went back. 👍 and definitely LOVE khao soi if you see one in Bangkok!
This khao soi is good enough, just a little sweet for me. Wanglang Market or Daradalay are my favourites
Thanks! Great content!
Thank so much 🙏🙏🙏
Wow! So glad we viewed this video ... we are staying at Trinity Silom for our first week in Thailand! Not far for us to walk to find a good feed. And especially finding a good coffee too 😋
Enjoy 😊
Hey thanks Gary for taking us to Silom and Sathorn. My old stopping grounds. Looking forward to getting back this winter.
My pleasure
very nice video! I love the area with the Silom Soi 10 Food court
Thank you so much for these videos, Garry!
I’m so excited to visit next month and try all the hidden gems!
Have a great trip!
Good description of food Gary 🙏
Best food channel I've found on bkk! There's a dish in Singapore/ Malaysia called Bak Chor Mee / mee pok that is essentially the same interestingly
Thanks so much mate, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
I appreciate you and thanks
For supporting the local Thai food and Keep enjoying the food All of them look great.
What ever you are eating.
Yes do more videos. You’re making me hungry ❤
More to come!
I ❤️ soi convent!!!! Thank you for the awesome food content :)
My pleasure
Lovely. Also enjoy the videos with you and Paddy together.
Maybe one more coming before he leaves!
Local food and Isan food is what gets me going each day mate, thanks for sharing and as always, C Ya in the next one, cheers 🙌🍻
Great video, although I'm partial to this area as it's my favorite area to stay in Bangkok. I'd vote for more videos around Silom, but would also suggest some transit oriented videos like your airport eats videos, but maybe for bus station areas like Ekkamai or Mo Chit. Some options for killing time while waiting for the bus... Also, don't think I've seen you cover any of the train night markets like Ratchada by the culture center, and the one east of Bangkok out by the big lake park - great options for both getting good food and spending the evening. Anyways, keep up the great work whatever you decide!
That’s a great idea Kevin, I love it! I’ll get it done!
awesome vid. great watching you down my end of town. i ate round there for 5 years and still found out new things.
Yeah you could eat in a different spot every day mate
Very good idea Gary, would love to see more videos from this area, great content and enjoyable to watch, and I really like the longer minute videos, anyway keep going .(peace)
I’ll get them done mate
Yes. More videos in this area. It’s 30 mins from my family’s home. Planning on heading home next summer. Great videos, Gary!
I hope you can!
That was a proper bowl of food 6:04 😊
Proper!!!

I've been to that Silom 10 food court a few times and it's always a fantastic experience

Your vlogging never disappoints 😋 Genius 👍 Thank you so much 🙏
That’s so much Oy
Would love to see more from this area. We're coming to stay a week in the Bang Rak area in July, so street food recommendations are more than welcome 😅

Yeah it’s a top spot and I’m glad I can be of service
All of the foods I have been watching you all of them looks great some of them I didn't even know, but you are said they are good I do believe you.
Thanks so much 🙏
I'm often in Silom and Convent is a legit street for great streetfood. The Irish pubs are also good too :)
It’s a great spot and the pubs are dangerous for my health 😅
Another good video Gary. Absolutely spoilt for choice, hard to fit into short videos! Keep them coming
Thanks mate, will do!
Street food. I love it!!
Thank youuuuu
Mouth watering every dishes. 😋😋😋
Easy in Bangkok 😎
Best one yet mate, like you I only scratch the surface of Soi 10, hands down one of my favourite spots. My other is Petchabury Soi 5, from the pricey ISH Pe Aor to some rocking street stalls
Glad you enjoyed this one mate. P’Aor is epic
55555 Gary I want more videos in Silom IN THAT SAME SHIRT!!! 🤣🤣🤣
55555 done 😂😂
Have a wonderful day 🙏🙏🙏
You too 😀
I love to eat these sausages always when i am in Udon Area:) Amazing for me now for years: Silom is always packed with tourists, but hardly anyone goes to the food court in Soi 10
Drooling here.... September can't come quick enough. Can you take me there, Gary?? 😊😊🤣
Yes mate!
Yes, please Gary! More from Soi 20. It all looked amazing. I’m salivating over all that food!
Consider it done!
@@theroamingcook🙏 Gary is one of the best.
If you could come in France, Nice airport, and try restaurant downtown 👍 l mean it's not so far from England, when you come back sometimes. "Let's go " as you are saying always. 🙂 👍 good job, I appreciate

Consider it done Jim
Thanks for sharing 🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure
Great finds here Gary. Have you tried Hom Duan northern thai restaurant? (there used to be one near the market you visited in the video, closed about a year ago, there is also one at ekkamai). Great selection of dishes. Cheers again 👍
Yes I like Hom Duan but not crazy about the khao Soi. The nam ngiao is great!
I'm impressed your quite accurate Thai pronunciation.
It’s ok sometimes 😅
Yes, do more videos from here!
I will do!
Wow, the rib eye soup is very appetizing.
Very!
My first time in Thailand was April 2007 (Songkran) I was eating street food right away!!!!
It gets a hold of you doesn't it?
@@theroamingcook yes it does!!!!
Man I need to have you show me around the food just looks fantastic
ขอบคุณวีดีโอดีๆนะคะ
Hope to run into you in s couple weeks mate. Keep doing what you’re doing. i really appreciate your appreciation for my culture
Say hi if you do!
Hi Gary, love watching your videos and have been on a bit of a binge watching them in anticipation of my trip to Thailand soon. I love meats, hence more focus on pork & beef & duck perhaps, and the thai fried chicken at lumphini. But I love the grilled pork mu yang with rice or noodles dishes & of course Pad kra pao. Googled the following dishes - Mu thot krathiam, Mu manao, Mu daet diao, Khao kha mu. Love prawns & seafood as well, but select fish dishes. Cheers.
I’m glad you found this one, I love this little market!
I love this area of Bangkok so vibrant ..normally I stay at the center point hotel close to the river but still in the thick of it all..L.A Rob...
Great spot Rob, I stayed there last week
I eat at Soi 10 market every time in Bangkok for the Khao mun gai tod, one of my favourite dishes and my girlfriend works not too far away. That market is one of the main reasons I stay at Amara hotel
Not saying l would like it all, but would love to taste it all, especially that salad. Another winning video Gary love it 👍
Proper good food carol
Gary you are the absolute tops in describing flavours and dish components. Thanks for your wonderful videos. Your enthusiasm is palpable. Good on yah mate. Try Khao Ka Moo in the basement of the Jewellery centre off Silom Road. We reckon it’s the best ever. Have you tried Siblings near Saladeang. Very popular of an evening with office workers. But maybe not there anymore. Three doors past central.
Love your non mark wiens poker face when you are eating Gary 👍🏽
Haha thanks Leonard!
I am hopefully coming to Thailand in Oct. Your videos are so helpful. Maybe some simple Thai words when ordering like:
Hot, spicy.noodles, rice etc. Do you have any words that will be helpful when ordering food. Really like to see the sausages
I’ll get it done Donna
i learned that better to watch your vid in the day time, stomach suffered while watching at the middle of the night
Yeah never watch at night 5555
I like that the vendors/food service is still wearing a mask. I think every food industry should wear it. Cause they talk while holding the food. And people do spit when talking without notice. I need extra hot souce in my food, not extra spit😁😁
Don't bother food vlogging unless you know the ingredients, can articulate the flavors, can get great shots, have interactions with the locals and can get them to laugh, and can speak the local language fluently like Gary. This is the new standard for skill level that you need to be taken seriously. Go and study and pay your dues first before trying to make content. Otherwise people like Gary will just make you look like a silly amateur.
Exactly! Too many posers just dossing about, tilting their heads with goofy grins trying to look like cartoon characters while being insincere to the point that it's demeaning. But this cockney wide boy right here, he does a proper bang up job week in and week out. Crucially, he's not afraid to give his heartfelt opinion on each place/dish. He is a rock, and upon this rock we can build the Thai street food church. Or "strret food", as it's sometimes known lol
Fluent? His Thai pronunciation is pretty bad. Tones wobbly, vowels flattened. He ordered a noodle soup known for fishballs but had them omit the fishballs. Entertaining nonetheless.
@@slimturnpike I’ve never claimed to be fluent but thanks
@@afg197 god loves a trier 😂
@@5thPlatoon 555555 best comment of all time 😅🙏
Funny when you said fat already and she responded YES 🤣

Have eaten some great food in the Silom area, there is a great stewed Pork restaurant called Charoen Saeng Silom close to the Hangover Bar.
They have the best chilli garlic vinegar.
That’s a great spot mate
I used to work there 20 years ago
Wow 😮
yes definitely do at least 5 more videos
Will do!
Dang I wish this video was out last month I was staying around the corner lol. Would love more videos of the area. One of my favorite food stalls was an older lady in soi silom 5.
So many great spots around there
Let’s go Gary 💪🏽
