The main things I’ve cut out of my budget are paper towels, ziploc bags, plastic water bottles, alcohol and high end makeup 😊 it’s saved me a ton of money and I like to think I’m doing good for the environment too!
Awesome, I don’t use buy those things really either. I have some ziplocs I rarely use. Almost every time I could use a ziploc I use a container. I keep buying more leftover containers, because I will buy huge buttermilks and heavy cream and freeze them into small amounts. Also, we keep large yogurt containers if we give someone food to take home so they don’t have to give them back rather than using ziplocs. If you do drink, it’s still better to have it at home than in a restaurant though. My husband and I don’t drink though.
Lizz Adinaro Yes reusable water bottles are great! I have a locked flip top one I like by my bed, and a metal one (which i even found for $2 at a thrift store) for my work so it won’t break (I work with children).
So instead of plastic water bottles, what did you drink instead? Did you drink tap water? I'm trying to seek an alternative, but my tap water comes out cloudy.

@Liliane Kobeissi Ah, I skimmed right over that! Sorry for the sass about your first comment! I'm actually (more or less) the same way with clothes. I recently got a shirt, a pair of pants, and a pair of shorts on the biggest sale of my life at Eddie Bauer- they were high quality and 50% off everything in the store, so I shopped off of the clearance rack. Other than that, I *only* thrift, and I just got a Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine (learning from RUclipsrs) so I can fix my clothes that tear or upcycle things I can't fix, and now I'll also have a wider range of things I can get from the thrift store, since I can now size them up or down really easily or take some extra time to create something entirely new from the fabric! I'd recommend checking out some of the DIY sewing "thrift flip" videos, they're super helpful for getting ideas! You'll save SO much money and have entirely unique clothing fit just for you!

I realized wearing fancy, fashionable pieces to work isn't really important for me (since I work in a conservative corporate environment), and so I only have 5 shirts, 3 trousers, 2 skirts, 2 dresses, 1 blazer, a pair of flats and a pair of heels. Basically, find what works for you and really figure out which things matter to you and which things aren't necessary! ☺
It’s definitely a case by case basis: for example, so many of these things don’t apply. If I tried to do my own manicures, I’d look like a joke. In my job, it’s important to look put together. I get sns powder once month and my nails are bulletproof. Also, a gym membership for someone like me has a social component that a home gym (not that my apartment has any space) does not provide. My gym equipment would just gather dust and be useless. Basically there’s no one size fits all and I definitely think you made that point which I appreciate.
I stopped getting takeaway coffee. I bring my own mug with coffee and tea. I also stopped using my gym membership. I bought a good pair of sneakers and go out and walk/jog. Minimal makeup. I cut out trash bags (I use grocery bags), halved my paper towels use (it's reducing as I use old clothes & towels). I have to go cut off my gym membership. My cell phone is financed but my job pays for it so that's even. I previously bought unlocked phones and used a cheap $35/month unlimited plan. Now, I cut my hair once in 3 months, and color my hair in the same time interval as well.

Kaia Sky dip powder kits run about $100 to do it yourself. The powder is organic, does not damage nail beds, and my nails grow like crazy. I will never go back to gel nails, nail tips, or getting professional manicures regularly.

Buy it girl! Good Machines go for 150-200$. For like 2$ a latte daily, youll get a 200 $ Machine in 3,3 months. The savings mounts up to a hair dresser visit with haircut, color and highlights within 3-4 months use of the machine. But on the other side, cafes are supercozy and bring a lot of Joy. Buut a coffee each day becomes 730$ a year. That is a sweet vacay or debt repayment
I invested in an espresso machine and a nice coffee maker and it was well worth it. I saved up for a little over a month so I could buy it outright and not put it on a credit card and since then it’s more than paid for itself for my household of two working adults
The price variates. Maybe 20 - 30 cents or less for each espresso shot if you go for midrange beans. I am from Norway so we have vile coffee prices, prices are a lot better in the US.
TFD channel is my big sister when it come to saving up money. I agree with all of the mentioned points. I used to be bound by mobile phone contracts and I figured that I don't really use everything included in the contract so it was a waste of money. I switched to pre-paid and now I am spending almost 6x less but have everything I need.
How do you cope with not entertaining at your home? Along with driving, cosmetics and dining out? Part of me would love to cut those out but I have an idea that makes me not. Also do you do beauty treatments at home or not at all?
@@victoriamather2267 at home, but not often, and not having company over is due to a bedbug issue we had a while ago,and don't want. To repeat. You can't always tell if someone has bedbugs,or not,so for us,it's best to simply avoid that possibility of getting infested again. After the last time,we had ALL our stuff incinerated.not about that. As for dining out,we do,very, very rarely
The bit you said about meeting other's expectations really turned me off from Dave Ramsey. If I want to buy a german luxury sedan instead of a chevy sonic because I'm 6'3 and commute 3 hours everyday, it's my damn business. For me it's worth not buying clothes or going out to eat. I believe we tend to do what we want anyways and only feel inadequate when we compare ourselves. People my age are financing lifestyles on student loans. I'd rather work my 80 hours and buy it myself.
I avoid paper towels, fast food (to avoid waste and stomach aches), i shop fresh to avoid plastic and be more selective about what i purchase and put in my body.
I've done gym memberships in the past and made good use of them. I've also done daily burn (it's a subscription service for fitness classes) and right now that is what works better for me. I can do most anything with some 5-10 pound weights in my living room and I don't have to drag my kids somewhere. It's much cheaper than the gym, but if you don't use it it would still be a waste of money.
It’s definitely freeing to not have to spend money on nail polish, Ive also stopped paying for someone to buzz my undercut, buying cleaners, makeup remover, and pads and tampons!
We recently stop using our central cooling/heating since last year unless it's a 95F or sub zero F day. And we cut off hundreds from our monthly bill. Some days we do still get a bit uncomfortable, but the savings are worth it.
Getting lasers is more economical in the long run vs waxing appointments. after a couple of sessions, hair will be thinner almost to the point of being gone. :)
Couldn't agree more with what is said in the video. I would also like to add - cut the cards, don't spend the money you don't have. Have just one card and use just the money you have. Plan what you'll buy in a month, two or more if it's something bigger. If it's something that you had your eye on for a long time, write pros and cons so you can decide if you really need it, and if the answer is yes but it's too much for you budget right now, try and save just a little every month, use a piggy bank if it's easier. Cook meals at home, drink tap water. Entertain your friends at home with some homemade cookies and ice tea. Just some of my tips :D
I simply ride a bike every day and dont own a car;) That way I save money on gas, car insurance and repairs, and also on gym membership ;) I dont have a gym at my house, for me it doesnt work because I hate exercising inside. Its pointless when you can have gym and transportation in one. It doesnt even make sense to me to own a car and commute in a car and then head back home to exercise on a stationary bike XD But oh well, for each their own.
I fully agree with each point presented & embarrassed to admit I am guilty in every single point. I guess we live & we learn. Greetings from South Africa
Sally Gardiner honestly! I'm from Ireland, and the idea of spending $300 on a phone bill per month is mad. I've a prepay phone and for €20 monthly, I get unlimited texts, 100 minutes, 20G data AND spotify premium! Even a bill pay deal in the UK/Ireland won't cost up to €100 let alone €300! I think Americans in general have a spending problem compared to Europeans
Are these tips ever published in written form? I'd like to know this information, but often don't have the 12+ minutes it takes to watch your entire video. I'm a reader and find that I can remember things better and refer back when it's in written word better than always having to take notes or trying to go back and find a nugget of info you said when in video. Thanks. ps love your tips
Something I stopped spending on was bulk food. The idea that you're saving money because you're buying more is really wasteful when you're a single person. My friend went to the grocery store with me once and told me I should buy something in a certain size because it was cheaper. I was very proud of myself for realizing and explaining that it would indeed go bad before I ever had a change to use it. Now, I don't go shopping at all and do subscribe to a meal delivery kit. Overall, it's worth it for me. I'm never wasting food; as a single person the 2 meals a week I get feed me for at least 4 meals; I don't have to waste money on grocery delivery fees or time on riding my bike to the store to get only things I can carry home that I probably didn't even really want. And when I do grocery shop I'm very conservative and stick only with what I know I will be able to consume within the next week.
What cell phone plan did you switch to? I've been seriously considering paying for a cheaper phone outright to get some freedom from the big cell phone companies! Thanks in advance!
Check Consumer Cellular website ConsumerCellular.com ... you can choose ATT network OR T-Mobile's. I'm still using iphone6 I won 4 years ago on T-Mo & an OLD Samsung Galaxy S4 on ATT. I take road trips and have the USA covered cell-wise between the 2! You can chose plans based on YOUR BASIC USAGE and compare. I'm 50+ and an AARP member getting the 5% discount. 20-something son traded in his iPhone6+ to purchase unlocked iPhoneX via APPLE directly ... has Consumer Cellular account , using data like a boss. There's NO ROLLOVER minutes bonuses!
I cut my own hair! It’s easy cause I have short hair but getting a decent razor of Amazon was a single 25 dollar of Amazon and now I save the 15 dollars a month I would have to spend to avoid looking dumb and shaggy.
This was so good! Bottomless brunches is my vice and can get so pricey. I think shopping around for services is something I do best. Like my threader was booked up so I went next door to a hole in the wall place and got waxed. Saved $10, time, and it looked the same.
oh wow. phone plans are so expensive in the US. i pay €6 for unlimited minutes and texts in the same service provider, a couple of hundred minutes with other services providers and international calls with the EU, and 30 gb of data.
I love my $100 Android phone from AT&T go phone. I do go through many per year (lost or broken:user error). So when he (my husband) wanted to get $500 phone (he was not sure if he would have the company phone). I got an attitude. I love my prepaid life.
Great video! Thanks Tasha. I’ll never spend money again on television (don’t miss it) haircuts and color (do my own). Considering doing what you did w my phone.
I kind of disagree with the financing cellphone in a way. I’d say keep it for more than 2 years, but still, my money can do more than sitting in a deprecating phone. Also, $300 for 2-3 people is absolutely insane! 3 people on VZW costs us less than $150.
I dont get the phone thing. Were i live, a phone is only an extra 10-15/month extra on top of pretty much any plan with nearly any provider. Is this not a thing?
It depends on the phone, my Galaxy S8 had a down payment of just the tax & is $30 a month for 2 years. Times that by 3 phones & it adds up fast! I finish paying them off in December & think we'll be able to to wait a few months to continue saving up towards our next ones. My stepdad & I both end up using them at work & have found the quality of them to be better than less expensive options so we'll just be working on not financing them.
@@keeperofsecrets88 I have the s8 too and was looking at upgrading to the s10, (s8 is paid off now) and the s10 would only be 10/month (like 7-8 usd) for 2 years. Only reason i havent upgraded is i work for a telco company and on an outdated plan i dont want to give up (and you have to be on a new contract for each phone). Sounds like your plans are WAY over priced. Our plans are more expensive i think, but we also have a smaller population over a large area to absorb the cost (telco infrastructure is VERY expensive to build).
I stopped buying s tissues, paper towels, paper napkins, baby powder, zip lock bags, expensive shampoo and conditioner. I also started buying all of the stuff I could in bulk. INC. Dog food, lotion, deoderant, tp, protein powder, creamer, maple syrup, powdered punt butter plus more. I also switch my internet provider to sprint and cit my bill by 2/3rds, including buying a cheap phone. I cut my car insurance, and keep my credit card debt on introductory 0% interest cards until I pay them off. I stopped buying prepared foods and expensive grocery items, and I changed to aldi for most of my groceries. I cut down on eating out, and stopped wasting food at home. I buy less meat and more bulk items. I keep my house full of healthy snacks and stopped buying candy and pasteries and cookies. I plan better when using my car, and don't do unnecessary trips. I buy discount airline tickets and only take a carry on for travel. I take baths with less than half the water I used to unless I need a good soak. I found free activities to do, and use the library. Stopped buying books for myself. I mostly buy generic and cut down extremely on pleasure shopping. I change my own brakes, and trade when I could for handyman work. I decided to keep less pets. When these run out, I will only keep one or two dogs and just a few chickens, right now I have 5 chickens and 3 dogs...waaaayyy too many and too expensive! I joined a memeprship of online pet meds to get them over 50% off. I shop at thrift stores but shop there even less, and make clothes with fabric I already have or discount fabric. I trade plants with people instead of buying when I could. I cut out fats food and cut my drinking out by over half. Plus! So I'm saving lots and lots. Yes, I only do my nails with someone as a gift. Trim and dye my own hair, use an epilator to shave. Stopped buying most single use items and invested in reusable replacements. Ok. That's enough! I feel better now.
We like the Moto G phones. We were with Republic wireless for a few years but now we're with T-Mobile and pay $90 a month for three unlimited lines.--Tasha

Hi. There’s a spelling mistake on your page on the one year spending budget. It says “where should we send your free “buget” instead of ‘budget’. Thank you for the informative video.
$1000 smartphones?! Seriously, check out Xiaomi phones, they're fantastic quality, great cameras and half the price of competitors. Sometimes you're paying more for the name (like Apple or Samsung).
I got a used Samsung for 100 euros 2 years ago, still works like a charm. I can't imagine ever giving 1000 dollars for a phone, I'd rather buy a mid-end new laptop for that money.
I don’t understand who has those expenses and who thinks these ideas are any good. For example, “don’t get a gym membership, set up your own gym at home”, wtf? It’s almost like she’s in her late 50’s, this sounds like something my mom would say.
Living in an apartment I can't imagine setting up gym at home because my space is precious and limited, and I wouldn't want to put gym equipment in there that's gonna take up permanent space.

Do you do your own hair or is getting it done professionally part of your budget? Looks great, btw :)
I do my own hair. And thanks!--Tasha
I was looking at the hair too. It looks so good!
Would love a hair care video or tutorial ❣️
Home gyms are the BEST money savings!! I've never regretted quitting the gym.
Things we cut from our budget.
1.alcohol/ drugs.
2.entertaining,company over
3. Driving
4.gym.
5. Cosmetics
6.all beauty treatment.hair cuts,color,manicure,pedicure,waxing
7.new clothes,fast fashion
8.dining out
9.atm fee
10.late fee,reconnect fee
11.excess junk food
12.flowers,candy,celebrating holidays excessively
13.coffee drinks out
14.bottled water
How do you cope with not entertaining at your home? Along with driving, cosmetics and dining out? Part of me would love to cut those out but I have an idea that makes me not. Also do you do beauty treatments at home or not at all?
😕
@@victoriamather2267 at home, but not often, and not having company over is due to a bedbug issue we had a while ago,and don't want. To repeat. You can't always tell if someone has bedbugs,or not,so for us,it's best to simply avoid that possibility of getting infested again. After the last time,we had ALL our stuff incinerated.not about that. As for dining out,we do,very, very rarely
@@rochellethundercloud346 you invited people over and they infested your place w/ bed bugs?
*_Have you heard of minimalism? It makes life so much more simple_*
Life Progress - Health, Wealth, & Happiness Channel so true. My channel is about minimalism ☺️🌻
It’s definitely freeing to not have to spend money on nail polish, Ive also stopped paying for someone to buzz my undercut, buying cleaners, makeup remover, and pads and tampons!
i'm so glad you are posting more on the financial diet, such great advice.
Anneska Kirideska u were probably just talking to Tasha tho so disregard everything I just said😌
I use an epilator, works really well and pulls the hair by the root, like a vax.
Keyholder ooh 😯 whats that
I just cancelled my waxes at $53 a month for a groupon for laser hair removal $189 for 6 sessions!!! Best investment ever!
I really want to try laser and feel it will be a great investment and much more convenient, thanks!
I'm intrigued by your tattoo
All these (huge) spending habits are a complete mystery to us in the UK.
Do women in UK not wax their legs or go to the gym?
Are these tips ever published in written form? I'd like to know this information, but often don't have the 12+ minutes it takes to watch your entire video. I'm a reader and find that I can remember things better and refer back when it's in written word better than always having to take notes or trying to go back and find a nugget of info you said when in video. Thanks. ps love your tips
Always beautiful but wanted to just say how absolutely stunningly gorgeous you look today😍
Totally agree with your list I change almost the same items
Thanks, Tasha! Glad to see you’re doing okay!
Look in to companies that offer a bring your own phone plan or one of the pre paid phone plans.
Cut cut cut... my new life... working on it!!!!!
Great video! Thanks Tasha.
I’ll never spend money again on television (don’t miss it) haircuts and color (do my own). Considering doing what you did w my phone.
I don't pay for everything you enumerated but i'm still broke. :) The budget is still the problem... :)
Keep up your practice. You will get over the top of it.👍
Jewelry. Saving money and not having to worry about losing jewelry is amazing. My one investment piece is a Movado watch.
I kind of disagree with the financing cellphone in a way. I’d say keep it for more than 2 years, but still, my money can do more than sitting in a deprecating phone. Also, $300 for 2-3 people is absolutely insane! 3 people on VZW costs us less than $150.
Wow! My Republic Wireless plan is less than $20 a month.
Your hair looks amazing!!
Thanks!--Tasha
All the personal grooming... I figured out how to do all that... except for haircuts... that I still get done
I'm from Philly!!! What neighborhood do you guys live in? I'm in the northeast!
I haven't had a wax in 2 years since having my son. Oh how I miss waxing. I think they are better than manis and pedis.
Is Tasha partnering with the financial diet ? I have seen more than one video this way!
Pri USA yes - check out her computer screen behind her 😊
Yes she's done a lot of videos with them
She does a weekly video with tfd
Tasha, You Look Absolutely Amazing Beautiful. Thanks for the tips. 😊😊
Thank you! And you're welcome!--Tasha
When you cancelled your cell phone plan did you have to pay a cancellation fee?
That is an amazing list!
Cordless phone owner here. 😊
Funny how I've done majority in her list. I feel like Tasha and I have a connection! 😂
I felt the same way when watching her and her husband's other channel...
This was really good
Can you tell me which type of phone did you buy and which company do you have
We like the Moto G phones. We were with Republic wireless for a few years but now we're with T-Mobile and pay $90 a month for three unlimited lines.--Tasha
U can also look into Google Fiber phone plan with the new pixel 3a...
Wow that's a deal on cell phones! what carrier and plan do you have??
I use Metro PCS. It runs on Tmobile's network. We have 4 lines with unlimited everything for $100
@@annad3377 sweet deal, thanks for the heads up!
Good for you
😍 nice tips!! Thanks a lot!!
What kind of equipado you use to make your bike stationary?
This is one of the types stationary-bike-stand.org/ , you take out one tyre and attach it there, so it stays in place. There are other rollers too, so just browse around what's available near you. Second hand is also a good option for cheaper.
Hi. There’s a spelling mistake on your page on the one year spending budget. It says “where should we send your free “buget” instead of ‘budget’. Thank you for the informative video.
Good list !
Awesome video! At home gym, at home manicures and pedicures and at home waxing.
My eyes are so on on that tat. Bravo woman!
You look amazing girl!
Thanks!
Great!
I would get rid of phone
Wanna save money? Well buy a subscription to learn how to not buy useless things lol
who is your cell provider?
T mobile. They answered this in one of the above comments
What did she said the tattoo distracted me
Is that a tattoo?
what a plot twist!
is that a tatoo?
I don’t understand who has those expenses and who thinks these ideas are any good. For example, “don’t get a gym membership, set up your own gym at home”, wtf? It’s almost like she’s in her late 50’s, this sounds like something my mom would say.
Living in an apartment I can't imagine setting up gym at home because my space is precious and limited, and I wouldn't want to put gym equipment in there that's gonna take up permanent space.
Weights and a treadmill is really all you need which can cost very little if you put it in perspective
1 doesn't apply to me... I didn't send what I don't have
2 doesn't apply to me... No need for a gym
3 doesn't apply to me... Metro has a perfect plan for me
4 doesn't apply to me... I'm too clumsy for fake nails
5 doesn't apply to me... As a proud unibrow owner I have no need
6 Doesn't apply to me... I have fee friends and they're just impressed that I have an apartment
Not really the best video
