just doing a HRC replica, what a bike they were and still are, showed Ray Vandenberg today as he was blown away, he was lucky enough that his mates tracked down his Mr Motorcross championship winning RM500 and did a full rebuild and surprised him with it as his 50th birthday present, now thats true mateshipo for ya
@@jamesdungan6198 Thanks for your reply mate .. I appreciate it.. Rays 83 RM500XD is priceless in my eyes. Do you know Ray from his shop ? I've always looked up to him since l was a kid. I'd love to see the photos of Rays RM if l could please. If it's not too much trouble.... I'm Scott Downs on Facebook and my profile pic is a photo of my 5 black & white Explorer guitars, that you see one of for my YT avatar...
He had the same sponsor, not sure which shop u mean, I know where he is , best guy, I'm sure if you popped in he would be more than happy to show you but that's not for me to share as I'm sure u appreciate
@@jamesdungan6198 I fully understand what your saying.. Sorry but I got Ray mixed up with Trevor Williams for some reason... I feel pretty stupid about that mistake. I was friends with Peter Melton since 85, he changed the way that l rode more than anyone. I knew him because he used to practice on my Dads apprentices mx track but also through his high school friends that didn't realize how good he was at MX. It was strange to them to find out that Ol Pete was famous to other people.. lol RIP Peter Melton... You changed my life for the better..
Great restoration skills and thanks for sharing. I too have an 87 Cr 250 that I have spent 6 years obsessively searching out NOS parts for. Im just about ready to start building it! well, I think I am ha ha!
Love the minor solo jam that you laid down as well ! I hope that you still have the bike... that is something special ! Dacka was like the Aussie version of Rick Johnson back in the 80's. If l did the amount of work that you did on this bike, I couldn't bring myself to ride it. I hope that it is on display in your lounge room or straight to the pool room at least ! LOL !! You have to get Dacka to sign it !! It's not complete until you do !! I remember watching Dack ride this model when l was 15. 1st year with a rear disc brake . MX was the best back then because of how much the bikes changed with the latest technology.. 7 years earlier they had an air cooled motor, twin rear shocks and drum brakes. RUclips made my night by recommending me your video... Thanks for sharing this build.. You have inspired me to do one for myself Dan !
I did get him to sign it and now friends with him,he calls me occasionally, great guy, the bike has now got a new owner, nothing is worth anything to you if you never ever sell it,that’s what I think anyway.
The 1987 CR250RH was one of the best production bikes ever built. Even though the 1988 RJ was slightly 'revolutionary' with the low boy pipe, the RH was a better machine, better suspension and not too narrow like the RJ. A top bike.
ive restored a few bikes from the day in my time -and that is perfect -how do you get the duplicate stickers for the gards and shrouds - that bike is one of a kind in the world - great job its a rare one off legends bike
A lot of elbow grease 🤣, used a dremel tool with polishing attachments and took all the metal parts to the zinc mob to get done in either silver or honey gold.
joe davis i got into all the hard to reach places with a soft wire wheel on a dremel drill then used an electric sander using 600 paper then worked up to wet and dry with 1200 grit paper, then a rag and metal polish, and everything that was metal I took to the zinkers and got it re zinked into either the gold and or silver.
Thanks Dan, I was thinking along the same lines. Just not sure whether to re-anodize or not after. Im not sure if your top chain guard (top of swing arm by the shock) is new or not, but i have a spare NOS one should you ever need one. Many thanks, Joe
Caleb Tomilin are you in Australia? If so send me a friend request on Facebook,my profile pic is a build of a Marlboro yamaha im in the middle of, if you give me part numbers of what you need I can send them to someone I know that might be able to find the nos parts you need.

Nice music. I play my guitars the same style. I also have a 2018 Husqvarna TC 250 2 stroke. Very cool.

I have just watched this again. How did you restore the swing arm? Did you sand in then get it clear anodized? It looks amazing.
