Thank you once again for yet another great lesson. Also again I really enjoy listening to your original music used for examples for the lesson. I would love to have a cd to listen to, hint hint. Thanks again for sharing your experience knowledge and passion with those of us trying to make music. BEST AND PEACE
Thanks so much Chuck!!! The ideas I use in these videos are really just improvised. Maybe someday I’ve record some stuff. I really appreciate all your support to my channel. Talk to you soon, buddy.👍
Thank you for your contribution, I , just turned 70 and didn't think I would make it this far, I started playing when I was 16, and I've never stopped learning, I suffer from chronic pain, (the pain you can't see), not asking for pity, just saying if it wasn't for this community of guitarists. i.e, you, Tim Pierce, Mark Zebel, Paul David's, Brett Papa, and especially Brett Kingman, I probably would have done the wrong thing? Thank you one and all. Love Lachlan.
That is a great list of players and teachers! I’m humbled to even be mentioned in the same sentence with them! I still learn a lot from them myself thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! Have a rockin weekend, buddy👍
This is very good advice. I know that I'm frequently guilty of playing all up and down the neck, just because I learned my scales, and never thought I'd be able to. But you're right--this is how you make some music.
We need those scales for structure but we just need create phrases within those scales. Easier said than done!!! Thanks so much for checking out the video! Talk to you soon buddy 👍
Rusty your lessons are amazing. I'm 62, played since I was 12. I should be way better, but I would call myself a solid intermediate. So many things you are showing me are kicking me out of this notion of "I'm as good as I'll ever be." Your easy going yet passionate style really resonate with me. Thank you brother.
Exactly! I've been doing exactly this but I need examples to help me make what I play more musical and you do that in this video. Thank you, sir. Have a great weekend Rusty!
You play so beautifully, I lose track of time and space. I forget, oh yeah, I could learn this. To a degree. Rusty you gotta whole lot of funkiness that some of us won’t get to. You have me on such a solid foundation now, all I can do is grow. And I don’t mind the incremental steps.
I love this comment Cathy!!! I’d like when you said funkiness!😂 I had a blast making this video today! It’s great to share the Guitar journey with you. Have a great weekend.❤️
Another great lesson. Things that we do, hopefully. But could do a lot better if we pay more attention to 'bending, vibrato hammer ons and pull offs'. Important stuff we don't pay enough attention to. The older we get the more reminders we need. Thanks again Rusty.
Starting off the new month with an excellent lesson. I think it's the passion you inject into your playing that sets you apart from the others I've followed....(& the tone!). Thanks once again.
It is awesome how you make complex things simple, and easy for all of us to practice and improve our musicality and techniques. You are a fantastic teacher. I wish I had known these things when I started playing, decades ago! Thanks a lot for helping us. 🎸🎸🎸
Another good video rusty. I’ve been watching from the early days with around 3k subscribers. Great to see the channel growing and 100k + subscribers will soon arrive. Well deserved 👏 keep em coming.
I do a great job of limiting myself without thinking. Now, I need to think about limiting myself further😂😂😂😂 Great content as always, Rusty! Thank you for sharing and have an awesome weekend.
Geez, Rusty! That's profound. I'm only up to 2:02 but already what you've said has got me thinking about my own practice. When I started playing triads & double-stops instead of chords, it sounded better. And it freed up my other fingers to do other things, like mute, pull-ons/pull-offs, etc. Not to mention, the notes I do play just sound better, more defined. It also allows me to do a technique, I don't know how to describe it, but I can string the notes together more closely so that it's almost like following each note as it goes up or down, and each voice is moving differently, so it sounds more complicated and melodious. (I hope that last part makes sense. It would be easier to demonstrate, but obviously I can't do that in text, lol.) Now I'll go finish the video.
Hey Jeffro, I like how you said it freed up your fingers to do other things!!! I’m going to use that line in my videos coming up😂 It sounds like you’re really moving forward buddy! Thanks for taking the time to watch my videos! Catch you later 🤛
Gee whiz, I thought all you had to do was buy a better guitar! 🤣 Seriously I'm happy playing my father's old Harmony Meteor he bought used in about 1960. Been playing since about that time myself. Your lessons are so good and not complex like many others do. Makes it seem attainable. Being a technical sort of person I tend to get wrapped up more in theory and the mechanics. This type of stuff is much more enjoyable. Just wish something like this would have been available decades ago.
It's such a challenge to limit yourself to just a few notes, but it is such a good tip. I have been zeroing in on playing to the song and on understanding following the chord changes vs noodling on the pentatonic. Also trying to hear where I end a phrase rather than just playing randomly and landing on a root note somewhere with each resolution. Anyway, forcing focus on fewer notes and targeting playing to the song is a great strategy to help in this area. Would love content on finger placement, specifically things like when switching to index + ring finger vs index + pinky moving first position minor pentatonic down the fretboard. I always find myself still using my pinky when playing the e minor pentatonic in the first position at the 12th fret. I've seen other players use their index and ring finger exclusively when they're playing in that position. But I've also heard it's considered cheating. Would be awesome to see content around things like this. Good stuff!
I’m glad you got something from the video! I have touched on a briefly, but that would be a good topic about finger placement when shifting positions and other techniques. Thanks for the feedback and let’s talk soon.👍
Thank you, Rusty. Just subscribed. Your method of teaching is practical and an engaging style and allows me to connect some dots of my rather confused guitar learning methods. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺.

Dear Rusty you are the best, I've been trying to play on acoustic that you do on electric, hay my fingers are sore, sum success though,. I have some kit, maybe time to go electric and stop being a stubborn mother.
Hey Paul, the acoustic guitar is fun, but the electric is a whole other level of FUN 🤪 Keep rocking and enjoy your Sunday🙏

I do love that black beauty, Les Paul! Always good to hear from you Alan. Thanks for all your support.👍
Hah, this reminds me of the discussion we had on our last live stream together. I still need to cut both E strings and the A string on my rehearsal guitar. xD
But I started to limit myself quite a bit ever since I've started to play with two other guitar players, there is just no other way around that.
I think with solos, it's also way more powerful once you break out of the self imposed limitation after some time.

You’re right, it’s great to break out of that limitation and then get back to it. Thanks for checking out the video. And we can talk in the fall season about another live stream. Talk to you soon.👍
@rustysguitar1 Thanks Rusty, appreciate it! I'll contact you again. :)
I'm already looking forward to it. Thanks a lot!

Hey Rusty, I would love to have a few 1 to 1 lessons with you. Do you ever have time for that?
I really appreciate the interest Chris, but I only do the RUclips lessons for now. Thanks a lot for checking out my videos.👍
Good lesson, my question is can an electric guitar be tuned to open D, thx
You can definitely tune the electric guitar to an open D. Thanks for checking out my lesson George!!!🤛
Thanks for that appreciate it.
Excuse my ignorance, a Gcord with C fingering from the 3 fret? @the 4.53 mark.
Thanks for watching. I did put a diagram up for that G chord
@rustysguitar1 Sorry i must have missed that, I'll have another look. Yes you did @2.21mark. thanks for the reply.
Hi rusty you ate the on RUclipsr that gets back in touch with me . I know you teaching is for intermediate players. If you was to start over what would you go about it ( how would you go about it in order.

That seems like a lot for a beginner, but it is doable. If you really wanna be a good player thanks a lot for checking out my videos.👍
Rusty. I like your lessons but do you have tabs for them? Bill
Thanks Bill! My videos are focused on giving you structure to create your own solos in your own sound. So sorry no tabs. Have a great weekend, buddy.👍
Just xlnt
Thanks for watching 👍
I tried this, it doesnt work with my autostic brain.
