Here are my thoughts please read though all these
1. Since you said the Nycta was very skittish and hates water the drinking animation should be skittish almost. Like everytime it goes down to take a drink it flinches, like it's nervous to let its guard down to drink.
2. You should keep the Nytca color variations with dark colors because again it's skittish, so it would probably rather wonder around in the dark.
3. Because the Nucta has so many spines you should make it so some of the spines are poisonous, so when a dinosaur bites him/her it gets poisoned and starts to lose health slowly.
Please read through these and let me know your thoughts. I can tell the Nycta will be beautiful when it's done.

Every time I see that Nycta laying, I can't help but to make the purring sounds. A deeper, more clicky purr than the velvety sound of a cat.
But what if the Nycta has a disarming call???
Like a Low, soft, rattly sort of whistle that could also have a disarmingaction, like showering it's head and tail down. It'll truely surprise people if the player suddenly kills the other players instead.

I think that the nycta should yawn when it gets up instead of a roar. And I really think that there should be a King and queen nycta! That would be great
I like that idea, maybe if they had a monarchy system where a male will fight for dominance and when it is, the queen will activate some kind of hypo gene to cause accelerated growth. Maybe they could have some kind of hive/pack system, something to make the Nyctas unique.

Should be an animation when you talk while laying down tho, like when sitting with other dinos, but with thi one it could be so niiiice, like a grumble in his sleep 😂
It'll look really stupid sitting with other dinos though, also if there's a few of them... they're all going to look exactly the same, no head movements can go well with a dinosaur laying down - look at ARK, they look pretty daft. Then there's the terrain clipping with the head, it'll just look terrible. But then again the whole thing looks like a DeviantART OC made by a blue loving 12 year old so I mean... meh? Horns? Really? He's 12. The whole thing makes me roll my eyes.

Its probably a version of the rex because... y'know. The 3 strains and all.
Ok, here’s my critique:
1. The legs below the knees look odd when it’s running. I know that’s probably just because it’s a work in progress, but I thought I might as well say it. I also feel as though the body should be a little lower as it runs. The main problem with the lower legs is that they’re really stiff; and lowering the body would give them more room to flex and stretch. Right now the legs have to be fully extended to be able to touch the ground.
2. As for the side bite; it does look a little odd, but I like the idea. However, I personally would go for the tail whip instead. But you could implement the idea into the normal bite by tilting the head as it bites.
All the animations/ art looks great so far! I love the swim, the falling/ landing animation is awesome, I love it all. I really like the idea of an alpha queen and if you find a way to add the king that would be amazing. Great work!
And yes I’m studying to become an animator :)

okay i'm confused, people don't like it if you refer a dinosaur as aquatic?
Spirit Foxy i dont really understand it either? Like its a dinosaur and its swimming, when its oher archosaurs, plesiosaurs, mosasaurs,.... i get it. But do people forget Halzkaraptor exists? like wtf dont act scientific when you know zero things about the reason you dont call sauropterygia or lepidosauria dinosaurs dont try.
@@althedude7730 the halzkarsptor is amphibian not aquatic. Which means it would also be a 'land lizard'.

People get angry when you speak of “aquatic dinos” because mosasaurus,plesiosaur, and all of them nuckas are aquatic *reptiles* and dinos are farther from a lizard than they are from your local Pidgeon

The Nycta should have its tail “rattle” like a rattlesnake when it threatens or open up like a peacock or maybe both (🤞). Maybe curve the tail a bit upwards when it does or to the side.

I feel like the tail needs to move more while swimming. Especially since it's like a fin.
It isn't meant to be a good swimmer- and dinosaur tails can't go up and down, at least the way the mainly terrestrial dinosaurs tails are built by the base

I think even though it isn't really a aquatic dinosaur! I think it should swim a little faster than the normal rex since it does have a fin.

I’m gonna say this for behavior:
The queen should have control of a small pack of lesser males and/or lesser females
While a male king should be a rouge creature, it’s a loner and does not involve itself with a female unless it needs to breed.
The female Nycta and W. Rex looks AMAZING!!! I love the Nycta female sounds, they sound chilling and eerie.

Hmm... I like the king/queen idea but if there only is one queen, will any offspring be male or will there be a type of "lesser female" as well?
The females in matriarchal groups (other than the queen) are usually either cast out or leave to start their own groups with breakoff males.
I love how he is laying down! But the “getting up” animation I feel should have his little arms at trying to help his body push upwards while he is getting up. Anyways I still love it! Keep up the great work guys. :)
The male supposed to be colourful to attract females but for the Nycta it is opposite it is scary 💯

I love that it lays down instead of sitting. The bites look great. I think the swim animation is missing something in the tail region, maybe more movement, maybe even have it floating more to the top like the nycta doesn’t want its tail touching the water? The teeth are looking great and I’m all for the way they extend. The fall animation is so well put together. The roars sound amazing! And I personally think the skin looks really good! OH AND THE FEMALE NYCTA LOOKS AMAZING!!
The nycta tyrannous should have a feature where if somethings near its spines/fins shake or twitch

That would be to hard to program
Few ideas;
1) Maybe it should use its tail fin for swimming? Paddle with it like a dolphin, and while it wouldn't make it semi-aquatic on the same level as sucho, that could maybe help the nycta fare better in the water than a strictly land-based dino like rex. Maybe since it doesn't like being in the water the swim animation has more haphazard thrashing, that'd give us the impression that this thing REALLY doesn't like the water and wants OUT.
2) Needle-teeth left in other dinos' hides after the nycta bites them, like a porcupine's quills. Maybe you could get rid of them by walking under trees with low-hanging branches.
3) The bite noise sounds...kinda weak, for such a big dino. Maybe give it more bass and make it sound more concussive, like the current allo's bite?
4) Life stages? The nycta we've seen so far in the previews looks like it could be the full juvie/sub-adult stage, compared to the Queen and King nyctas.
It should have both sitting down animation n laying down animation (the laying should recover more energy)- just to make it different
You should hold "h" in to lay and to sit you must tap "h"
I love the idea of the Queen and King. Saurian is another work in progress survival dinosaur game. They have a playable Dakota raptor, to get a female, the male would do a dance or calls to impress the female. I think that would be a cool touch to add in. I also think the female could use her feathers to attract certain males interested. Like bigger feathers, and brighter colors would attract better males? With males they could have a kill count that the females can look at. The more successful hunts means a better male. With nesting the female would be in charge. So, my idea is that the males would hunt for the females. (Or the females hunt while the male watches). If the female figures out the male is not helpful, I figure the Nycta would be aggressive. So she would chase him out, or with that special bite you were thinking about putting in, even kill the male. And that’s why males have to be useful, same with the females. Just ideas :D

The Nycta, both the Alpha female and the male’s, look and sound a m a z i n g! I love how it’ll lay instead of sit down, definitely keep that in. A king Nycta seems like a cool idea as well.

Several things that i hope Dev could add:
1. Improve all Dino's fighting animation (taking damage and attacking) include grappling with arm, jaw etc..
2. Dive ability on the water.
3. Latch animation for Dromaesaurs.
4. Add flying Dino's.
5. Add fish and giant prehistoric bug.
6. Being able to play as fish or insect.

Quick critic on the dino
1- The blue teeth are too straight, they look more like sticks than teeth, have them curved inwards.
2- The blue color on the dino is too bright, doesnt match the Isle environment or style.
Other than that it is looking gooood!! cant wait :)
Female Nyctatyrannus Looks And Sounds So Beautiful And Amazing!
Maybe at night the bioluminescent dots will glow brighter when the nycta is threatening another Dino or trying to scare something off that may give the nycta a bad time. Or the queen could only have this trait when she is looking for a King nycta or vise versa. This evolutionary advantage isn't found in nature in the real world but bright colors are frequently used in nature the nycta would brighten it by flushing more bioluminescent algae and agitating them to glow them brighter.
The animal so fearsome an island was named after it before its creation....

I like the idea of her just being a Queen, in charge of everything. No male counterpart, she just chooses who she wants in that particular moment.

I think the problem with the tail is that it's fins are horizontal :/ to swim foward it had to be vertical :c

One:Can we have both it sitting down and the sleep one.
Two:in the swim animation,can the tail can be a bit higher,showing a bit more of it in the water and add an animation when you stay still,its tail makes a small slap on the water.
Three:when startled,have the head move backwards and jolts back forwards and the spines stands straight.
Four:bite sound could be more aggressive sound.No side biting.
I know this is kinda alot,but just wanted to see this bad boi (and girl lol)

For the venom injecting bite make it so that the dinosaur rears up, opens its jaw, tilts it a tad sideways, and bites extremely fast. This causes it to be something to be noticeable so someone can’t always be spammed with venom.
The sit animation should be cute so when a dino comes in front of you and think your too "nice", you stand up and start to run towards it. Not killing the creature just scaring it. xD
I really hope your animators fix the sprinting animation looking like it's kicking itself with the folding toes at the end

You know Anth, Ark is actually supporting mods that keep the game going even after it is finished, I think the aisle would also appreciate that, you could even make your own story line that relates to the Isle’s story. Dragon punk is basically making their own game in Ark and you could do that in the Isle!

The Nyctatyrannus looks like it will be f*cking epic! I think for the swim animation you could add a bit of a tail paddle and I think it would be really cool is if you have a hunger animation, similar to the emaciation that happens when Dino’s get hungry but instead, it will do some quick short chomps. I guess the best way I can describe it is how WWZ showed the zombies clicking there teeth together.
The whole turning constantly when showing the animations really hurts my head. I can't see what's going on.

The Queen Nycta looks beefy as hell! I love it! A tank like that could use a bit of rolling thunder in its calls. Also plz make her bigger than the males!!!!! The new animations for the male Nycta's teeth looks AWESOME too! Honestly everything looks and sounds awesome, you guys are doing a fantastic job! Last thing, I LOVE SLEEPY BOY! DON'T CHANGE IT!

God the sleeping animation is amazing, but I'd love to see a sitting animation as well :0 like an alert sort of guarding animation for when it sits would be super super cool.

question about the king and queen:
Q1: is there only going to be one king and queen on a server or multiple?
Q2: How will you access or unlock the king or queen form of the nycta
(by the way, love your work anth, I unfortunately can't play the game because PC are expensive hoping it comes out on console)
Maybe you have to kill a certain amount of dinos to unlock the growth option.

What if the Nyta-Tyranus yawned instead of roared when it got up.
The run animation is just a fast walk and doesn't properly demonstrate a 'run', legs need to come up a bit more from the hocks. For the bite, I'd like to hear a bit more teeth clack, like a hint of it, since the teeth aren't extended down all the way.
Side biting, why not add a head-shake like bite, quick left and right, to rend and tear to create more damage.
Falling, to have the Nycta looking down, looking where it is going to land, it's back a bit rounded in preparation for the landing.

The alpha male/ king should look extremely armored and rather dark like the rendition you showed and not completely pop right away with a moderate amount of bioluminescent spots until he roars and his whole body should shimmer making him pop. Super unique and aggressive fangs would also be an excellent touch.

Swim animations seem a bit too calm. If the nycta doesnt like water then It should be aggravated while in it. Give a hobble to the swim, make him jerk around a bit, Make him sway. Thats my opinion
Also the bites: It sounds like a cut-off roar, and not very bite like. Remove the cut of and let the sound of the bite continue, but fade as well.

Don’t change I thing!!!!! It’s amazing!!!! I think when put into game and a survival creature that it should take HOURS to grow like a lot of time!!! I can’t wait for them!!! How rare will females be??? Will they be able to lay eggs?? That would be awesome!!

if you have a sit animation along with the lying down, then the sit could regen stam slower than the lie down.
if you have alpha queens of the nycta trex, then i feel that the queens should be a strong but slow tank, and the males should be a glass cannon ( but still strong )
if you want a king for the queen, then i feel that the alpha queens should be a separate breed. the nycta seems to be like a fancy cat breed (of dino’s). the armored queens and the king look to be the pit bulls of the dino world.
they’re all very cool ideas, and i’m still very excited to see where all of these ideas go! tell the dev team to keep up the good work!

The bioluminescent spots are warning spots. Saying I’m not in the mood dude
I see them as maby when it wants to lure prey to it it'll slowly flash them to get the dino it wants to lure to it then leap at it and kill it but a warning sign would be quite cool too
I see them as a tool to lure in prey that the Nycta wants to kill-
So like the Nycta can hide in a bush or dark area and slowly flash them to catch somethings attention then when it gets close enough the Nycta will leap out and kill it but using them as a warning sign could work too
If you’re gonna make the Nycta lay down, you should make it so that it’s eyes open when there’s a creature nearby, just to show that it knows it’s there.
This can also make for some terrifying cinematic shots.
