I gained a mountain of respect for Def Leppard for waiting for him to heal and then with the learning curve. Most bands with that hight of success would have replaced him and moved on. That showed The Word a great example of LOYALTY LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER AND A MOUNTAIN OF CHARACTER.
Amen Brother. They are the most dedicated Group, to them selves, to each other, for their fans, to the Music. and they work and get through any tragedy. R. Allen lose his arm in a horrific car accident. Then the Heart breaking loss over Steve The Razor Clark, May he R.I.P. Then Savage gets hit by Bell's palsy, a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Phil's wife almost died during the birth of their son. Last but not least. Joe lost his voice. “I lost my voice quite badly about eight years ago. A doctor that I saw said, 'If it wasn't you, I'd tell you to change your profession." Thank God his Vocal Coach he has had for, I believe he said for 40ty years of his career. Did the voodoo that he does and Joes back stronger then ever. So Loyal and Dedicated they are. This is my Opinion But Def Leppard Save my Life with a Certain Song that came out on the Slang Album and just in time. The track came on and it kept me from taking a header of a tall building. After i heard it and the lyrics was going through my skull. I was soon going home with Hope and thats because of Def Leppard. They are #1 of all time. NO one will tell me differently. Sorry for the long rant. But thats what they mean to me.... Take Care and Be Well...
I had the opportunity to meet them twice before a concert. He is such a good guy. Thank you Rick Allen for never giving up on your dream. You are an inspiration to so many. A Rock God. Def Leppard forever.
My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing them play live in Portland, Oregon a few years ago with Journey. He is, by far, one of the most accomplished drummers I have ever heard. His solo was so amazing you couldn't even tell he was missing an arm. Just awesome to see in person.
The echo is the sound of the arena delay PA system, too close to hear the snare because it’s probably triggered, but hi hats are right there so those are audible. But damn God bless this man!!!! THIS is playing for the love of music, life, appreciation for what we DO have in life!!! 🙌🏽👏🎶🔥❤️
The delay is due to the sound system and so on. If you think he's off time you are mistaken. This is why at some gigs and festivals when the audience claps along its slightly out of time with the actual timing of the band hitting/ strumming the instruments. This is why almost all bands wear ear pieces to help keep them in time because without them, what they play, and what they hear would be totally different timings. What the crowd hears is usually delayed slightly. Usually with bigger stadiums where there are larger sound systems because the sound has to travel further. And there are more speakers involved.
And, the farther away you are from the sound source (the speakers), the longer it takes the sound to reach you. This is exactly like what happened with 11-year-old Harper Gruzins when she sang the U.S national anthem at a soccer game (at least I think it was a soccer game... if I remember correctly). In a stadium of 22000 people, where the speakers were farther away from her, it took a couple seconds for her voice to echo back to her, causing her to feel like she had to slow down the song... because, stupidly, she was given absolutely no in-ear monitors or anything like that! So... the delay you're hearing in this video is surely like what Rick would've been hearing, had he not had those monitors.
HOLY JESUS! I'm 52. I loves def leppard when I was in school just after release. I was just listening to just now and loving Gods Of War and thinking I should finally learn how to be a drum, so looked up some live footage and had my mind blown. I have never known that my favorite drummer was doing all that with one arm!
Rick Allen is such a gentleman and beast at the same time. If I was famous (and worked harder, and not gotten MS at 22, not diagnosed until 30. Im 34) I could've joined them and been the... Jimi Hen drix of disabled musicians! No just kidding, More like the Nickelback of these guys xD ruclips.net/video/kn5JeTa_0_w/видео.html I sound like such a martyr :l Oh well x) I did play bass on Leaving Asgaard - Sanity EP.

Watching from Greece.hi everybody. An inspirational great drummer. As a drummer and human (but not a fan of Def Leppard) huge respect to the bandmates for waiting for him after the terrible accident that happened to him. 'He survived it and came out the other side stronger'.
I am from cebu, and i wanna say is he's a legends. Also the other drummer of the band like scorpion, kiss, twisted sister and more legends from their generation🤘🙏❣
RICK IS THE MAN! I'd love to drink some beers and talk to him about his amazing life. He's been a drumming favorite of mine since the "On Through The Night" album. I saw Def Leppard live at the Worcester, MA. Centrum in 1983. They kicked ass. They opened for Billy Squire during their Pyromania tour. Billy was awesome too, but the real draw was Def Leppard!
My drumming opinion about Rick is informed by my opinion of his before and after his accident. The Def leopard album before I enjoyed. The Def leopard albums after I loved! Rick's genius became obvious when he over came his circumstance at that time. He was lucky his band supported him but then again they probably knew his abilities to over come anyways. I don't see Rick as an example of disability over coming itself. I see him as proof that if your passion is real for the others around you, you will be able to continue with the same support. For me personally, ricks beats and fills after his accent are more individual and unique. I use my ears for music and not my eyes. The concept of a beat was performed with three limbs instead of four or that the player was sixteen instead of older doesn't matter to me. I love music so much that the music is what I love. Notice that noone. Claims appreciation for Rick loves his work only because he is an example of survival. On the contrary his fan base love his work first and notice his struggle second. I for one though go beyond, I don't care about his struggle. I love his drumming irrespective! And to prove this I cold heartedly say here that his limits after the accident don't factor for me at all and never
This was the show in Wembley Stadium, it was my first ever one and my first time experiencing Def Leppard (i only knew motley songs) and MY GOD was his solo absolutely amazing
I'm glad I got to see them in concert in the 90s in Puerto Rico... Opening band was Ampage but Def had their own drum set and was covered until Def started playing...
I think the delay is a result of hearing the snare more in the PA system (delayed by the arena) and the camera being close enough to Rick to hear the rest of the kit by proximity. Just a guess.

Delay is caused by the size of the stage. There are drums in front of you, but the speakers are over there. That's why need stage monitoring in-ear or headphone
Seen em on his comeback, "Hysteria" tour (with Europe). My 2nd concert (15), joe Elliot introduced the Thunder God Rick Allen & the place (Riverbend in Cincy)went nuts
what you're hearing is the delay between his playing and the output of the front of house. He's playing in time, the sound coming out of the front of house speaker system has effects and delay in it. His in ear monitors may have a click track, the guy's a professional drummer with one arm, I'm sure he's not playing out of time with any song. lol
Freakn awesome man us drummers should never take having working functioning limbs for granted cause we really use our entire body and mind when it comes to playing our instrument we have a massive role in the band without us drummers there is no band period drum on sir🥁🥁🥁 only thing I think drummers dream of is having 8 arms like an octopus 😂😂😂

There’s a weird delay with the sound of the snare, but he’s killin it
it seems like he can't play evenly
Yhea man wassup with that snare hahahah
The delay you're hearing is a latency between the phone recording and the sound system. It has nothing to do with his playing.
@@Lensman64yeah I don't think that's true.. I've watched hundreds of videos like this of other drummers. His timing is just really bad
It's not delay it's the placement of his strike versus the beat.. meaning it is not on the 2 an 4 slightly different but draggie feel to it
As a music teacher that I am for so many years already, I just have something to say, my truly respect to his flawless drumming wow🎼🎼🎵🎵🥁🥁👏👏👏🙌🙌‼️

Tommy Iommi could never play his guitar with only one arm. He'd definitely be a quitter. Hard to respect that.
