      Andre ward retired undefeated and beat the best fighters in his division at 168 super middleweight during his prime then moved up to 175 light heavyweight and beat the man who everyone was calling the monster and the boogeyman of boxing not once but twice and knocked him out. GGG didn’t want any kind of smoke with Andre ward at all Or whatsoever. His whole career GGG campaigned at and only won titles in one weight class which is 160 middleweight but was never even undisputed and when he finally did move up and fought at another division for the first and only time he got his ass straight beat. The best fighter that GGG beat was Danny jacobs which is a great fighter but a fighter who has multiple losses and more than likely won’t even be in the hall of fame definitely not anytime soon atleast and even that was a fight that many people believe jacobs actually won. GGG is a great fighter definitely hands down one of the greatest 160 pound/middleweights of all time but GGG can’t fuck with Andre ward on ward’s worst day not in the ring, not on paper or legacy wise.

    Team GGG said they'd fight anyone from 154 to 168 but then dismissed fighting Ward at 168 yet expected others to move up for him. Also, team GGG/Abel publicly rejected the Lara fight saying they didn't like his style and that Lara didn't "deserve" a shot. Team GGG is first crew in history to claim no one would fight him while saying elite fighters don't deserve a shot at him lol. Also, team GGG spent the years post Canelo-GGGII handpicking despite being in the full driver's seat at middleweight. The thing is, it's easy to be motivated when you're the B side looking for a payday from the A side draw that you're favored to beat, but GGG wasn't so motivated when he had A side leverage with something to lose.
    GGG fans complain all day about Canelo, but he was willing to step outside his comfort zone unlike GGG, and delivered as champ from 154-175 including moving up to beat the betting favorite GGG at his own game.

He was a late bloomer who at 29 was still raw getting dragged into a war with smaller second tier Ouma. At 32, Abel said it was unfair to expect GGG to fight Ward talking about him like he was a prospect who needed to be held back. GGG didn't even fight his first reigning champ until he was 33. Meanwhile GGG was supposed to destroy Canelo fighting above 155 for just the second time yet Canelo gave him a tough fight and turned around and beat GGG at his own game in the rematch. Instead of showing initiative to add to his resume and step outside of his comfort zone, GGG was content to complacently fight stiffs and try to make his legacy all about one fighter Canelo who he was supposed to destroy only to lose the trilogy.

    Wanna drop some knowledge here for the casuals clamming Ggg somehow ducked Ward...
    First of all when Ward went vocal and started calling out Ggg back in 2015, he was fighting at 168 for quite some time, while Golovkin was fighting at 160...The very 1st rule when challenging a man is YOU move to his division, u dont expect him to come to your division to fight you, because its you challenging him...Thats common knowledge...Worst case scenario u ask for a catchweight to even out any discrepancy for either side...Ward was asking for Ggg to move to 168 and in his 1st fight there he was supposed to fight Ward a guy fighting at 168 for a decade and already ready to move up because he had outgrown the division...That doesnt sound fair to me...
    Secondly Ward sent his offer AFTER Ggg had announced a unification fight with Lemieux...
    Also Ward was asking for a 50-50 split when he wasnt doing nearly as much as Golovkin at the time and had never fought outside of California!!It was Loafer that said the contract was a joke (from a financial point) and not Ggg
    Lastly Golovkin was clearly interested in becoming undisputed in 160 before he moved up...His choices suggest that not me!He clearly lost valuable years with the Canelo fight(s) and by that time Ward was already retired...But he earned money and legacy that no matter the outcome Ward could had never offered him if he had chosen to move up and take that fight...

    • @ReginaldOglesby
      @ReginaldOglesby Год назад +1

      We'll, firstly, Ward didn't set out to fight GGG. GGG and team stated that he could beat ANYBODY from 154lbs to 168. They called out Frotch, whom didn't accept (If they were so interested in undisputed, why did they do that?). Ward then stepped up, because of their statement, and said "I'll take that bet." GGG and team then backed down. They even turned down a contract, in less than five minutes. You say that when calling out a fighter, you move to their weight class? 🤔 That's interesting, because GGG called out Mayweather to fight him, at 154lbs, when Floyd was at 147lbs (currently). Floyd said, "Fight Andre Ward, first," they refused. GGG not only called out the smaller 154lbers (except Lara), but the bigger 168lbers (except Ward). But he also called out the even smaller welterweight, Floyd Mayweather.
