Playing guitar and other stringed instruments relieves my stress.
As I get older, my hands can't play as fast, but the slower songs are just as relaxing.
It also keeps my mind active. I do other things much better and I'll never be more than an average musician, but I keep experimenting and being creative with it.

What created my interest in the acoustic guitar was growing up and watching my grandmother play, she loved classic country music and could play anything by ear, I was always amazed at the sounds of the instrument and it’s been ingrained in me my whole life, I have a few guitars that I dabble with,, i know the instrument is meant to bring people together and play around people, entertain others, however for some reason it seems when I pull out my guitar to play, my current family really doesn’t appreciate it, the kids hate hearing it and I feel it’s a bother to my wife as well, this has forced me to play in the privacy of myself when everyone is asleep, times have changed!

JP, just wanted to say I enjoy your videos. At 65, you’ve inspired me to clean the cobwebs from between my fingers. I just purchased a new Alvarez MD70BG. I have a 1974 DY76 Yairi that I fell in love with 48 years ago. The MD70 is everything I expected . Even though K Yairi didn’t build this one, his craftsmanship continues through the luthiers he trained. Thanks again.

I'm so glad to have found you John, I'm 68 and have been fooling around with guitars since the sixties mostly electric. After seeing you enthusiastically reviewing the new Epiphones I purchased my Epiphone Hummingbird and decided to get serious about playing.

Johnny c this video was made a year or two before I met robin. If you’re having problems with your Boucher that is unacceptable and Robin would agree. I would reach out to him on their site and see about sending the guitar for setup. Robin demands satisfaction for all his players.

If you like that Sigma DR-45, you should give the new ones a try; made with Tilia back and sides. They’ve redesigned the bracing and they sound much more Martin-like now.

Hello, I’m new to your channel however I’m enjoying it. Not to mention I’d like to play just half as good as you do.

I’ve played since I was 13 and I’m 39 now. I never had a teacher or anything so I was totally self taught. Trial and error. Didn’t even have RUclips to help back then. So as a result I never became much of a player. I can make a few noises I like on the guitar but that’s about it. But I think I enjoy the guitar itself more than I do actually playing them. Love learning the history and all that stuff. I love collecting them. I love looking at them. I love buying them. I’ve had way nicer guitars than my playing ever deserved lol. But I’m cool with that 👍🏻

Just discovered you and am really enjoying what you do. But catgut is a misnomer, its not made out of cats, but usually beef, sheep or goat intestines.

Hi J.P. Wow, I just found your site & would love to tryout your lessons. You state above, however, that for $15.00 (USD) per month we can begin, but on your actual site, it says $30.00. Would you clarify?
    Thanks

Release talent and creativity? Nah I decided to learn because I thought it might make me more windswept and interesting to women
and might get me laid and it did, my wife of thirty years says she fell in love with me when I played a song called Nancy Spain to her.
I don't get laid so much now but play guitar (badly) most days, apart from my wife I consider my old 1970s kiso suzuki J200 knock off my best friend over all those years, I have more expensive ones but that's still the one I love. Love the channel.

Learn the accompanying chords. All those weird , strange odd sounding chords and learn to weave them in to your songs. Your satisfaction will double and so will peoples attention. I still have a very long way to go but I waited too long to discover these important devices.
