The African American Woman was also on The Episode on Dallas who played Tilly when The Ewings Had The Ewing BBQ and she and another Man were Caterers. She also got a Posthumous Emmy for her work on The Practice.

I read this book over the weekend. Other than some chatter in the first and last paragraphs, it has no dialogue and no narration. The entire book is a collection of inter-office memos, letters, and student essays. "Miss Barrett" (who looks like Audrey Hepburn in the book) TRIES to teach English in a NYC high school.
Replace the memos with text messages and it holds up rather well. Most of the kids are under-achievers who can't spell, and the teachers are buried in paperwork.

Yes but that's why the Book was such a Classic back in the Day. Miss Barrett meant well but she couldn't "Identify" with the Kids in her Class. Some where the Children of Immigrants who didn't speak English, Single Parent Houses, Blue Collar Families. Where did she do her Training.

I read the book a long time ago and I saw the movie. I am in my 19th year ofteach in in NYC. ALot of this still holds up pretty well. I have loads of memories with the memos. For the first ten years I taught I was getting sometimes two and three memos a day. Some of them as thinck as a paperback book.

I read this book many years ago. The part I really liked was when a girl student fell in love with her teacher and wrote him a poignant love letter -- which he corrected and gave back to her. Your write-up reminds me of that teacher. Hahaha.

Com uma excelente atuação da saudosa Sandy Dennis. Infelizmente não é mais exibido nas emissoras de TV aberta. Ótimo filme.

I love how this comment section reads like the "Suggestion Box" in the book. Just... the irony. Ha-ha

Amazing how now, just like then, women are referred to as girls and men are not referred to as boys. Great video. Thank you.

ughhh, always hated this movie. I know a lot of the "actors" are actual students but even the real actors suck. SOme of you must be theater art geeks to like this dribble...

    Horrible acting and cheesy stereotyping.
