I remember reading about this in Cinefantastique magazine back in 1978 and thinking that I can’t wait for that to come out. Took forty-five years, but now I will finally get to see it.

It is appreciated to see a movie like this in these times, with the old school effects recovers that charm. Without a doubt, I arrive in the best moment where the CGI with questionable results, this film stands out.
They don't have to copy the CGI. If they use this day CGI it will be perfect.
@@redrain2206 CGI today looks like ass, have you seen any recent movie? They almost all look terrible and have budgets about a hundred times as expensive as this film.

It's not a throwback, it was started back in the 90s when they still used stop motion heavily.

This looks incredible. The footage is cleaned up so well I thought it was a new release, using old school techniques, not a film that’s almost 30 years old.

As of 2024, it's 46 years old, since it was made in 1978.
@@JVD8383 it's newly released but was filmed in the 90s and written in during the 70s. The stop-motion effects, ironically enough, are the "new" ones, since they were added sometime 2018.

The Primevals immediately caught my attention as I checked my email today and saw Full Moon is releasing this after decades of postponed production. Quite astounding! I appreciate the good ol' fashion stop-motion animation and dedication that go into projects like this. Like waiting for Mad God (2021 Phil Tippett), I can't wait to see it in full. 🍿

I'm watching this trailer, thinking "Wow, how did Charlie Band manage to rub more than two quarters together to create a Full Moon movie in 2023 that actually lookalike it had a budget?" Before realizing this is an unfinished project from 1993 that is just now being released. Well, that explains why it looks so much better than a modern Full Moon movie! Those David Allen stop-motion effects are pretty distinctive, should've been my first clue that this was a leftover from the company's glory days.
This has got me thinking. If this film HAD been finished and released back in the day, I don't think we would have a master of this high fidelity being released. Sure, we'd have a decent dvd back in the 2000s but not something this otherworldly crisp!
It still feels surreal seeing this 90s sci-fi film in such pristine quality.

This was one of the movies that I thought was going to be unmade but seeing this with full audio and soundtrack makes me glad that old effects are might be coming back in some day in the future of films

It’s the same thing that was seen in the videocast. Like I said, It’s finally here after I saw a few glimpses of the footage preview over the last few years. 4 or 5 years to be exact. I look forward to seeing one of the Stop Motion Creatures that are known to be appearing in The Primevals. Besides the Yeti AKA the Gigantopithecus & those Humanoid Lizards. There was some other Prehistoric looking Creatures that have been known to be making an appearance on this as well.
I heard some creatures were cut.
@@anthonyluetmer8499 Which ones? Because these are the other known creatures that are known to be appearing on The Primevals besides the Humanoid Lizards & Yetis “Possibly Gigantopithecus itself”. Especially some Dinosaurian Lizard Creature that was seen on the test footage along with one of those Humanoids.
*Horned Lizards (the lizards are like a reptile called Tetraceratops or like a Reptilian equivalent of the Arsinoitherium)
*An Aquatic lizard (a plesiosaur called Elasmosaurus)
*Dinosaur Hybrid or Megatherium, a Giant Ground Sloth
*A Hybrid cross between a Mammoth & a Ceratopsian Dinosaur
Those are all the creatures that are known to be appearing on The Primevals. But what could it possibly be that they cut out?
@@dylangeltzeiler946the sloth, the ceratopsian hybrid and the spider have been cut I think. Don't know about the river lizard though.
@@anthonyluetmer8499 I didn’t mention the spider. But I saw an image of the Stop Motion Dinosaur Hybrid or Ground Sloth Creature. There must be some kind of mistake about what is kept in the Film or what is cut out in the Film.

I just watched this movie. AMAZING! I grew up watching movies using stop animation. I love the old school Hollywood special effects. I hope the younger generation will watch this and appreciate that adventure movies started like this.

THIS MOVIE HAS EVERYTHING, YETI'S, RACISM, ALIENS, A TOTALLY USELESS BIG GAME HUNTER, LOST FUTURISTIC CIVILIZATIONS THAT REGRESS TO THE ROMAN ERA, SHANGRI LA, FLYING SAUCERS, SLEESTAKS, LASERS, BRAIN MANIPULATION, PRISON CELLS WITH BARS BIG ENOUGH TO WALK THROUGH. EVERYTHING! I LOVED IT!!!

This is the most beautiful thing I've seen in years
The animations are so good, but the puppets look just like they were taken from a 50s movie. This is magic and you cannot convince me otherwise, all I can do is stare at it in awe, trying to absorb every frame with the same passion Allen put into it.

Watched it last night. I've been waiting 45 years for this film! 2024 Me was likely rolling my eyes watching this. But that was fine, as 1979 Me had pushed him out the door, and was watching this with a tube of Pringles and a silly grin all the way through. It's a film that played on my imagination as a kid, that I never thought I'd see. And now I have.

I have been waiting decades to see this film. Bravo, Full Moon to have the caring and guts to finish David Allen's vision. The trailer looks better than I would have thought. Matte work looks solid and stop motion looks fluid. Hope this movie turns around Full Moon to at least slow down the stupid crude of their 2000-era trash (Evil Bong, etc.) and put some intelligence and creative quirkiness into their future titles. Remember Dolls? From Beyond? You can do it Full Moon!!!!

Wow. This looks fantastic. A real throwback to classic monster movie. Has this been released yet. My parents took me to see "Laser Blast" at the Drive-In. I remember being blown away by the stop motion effects. Those reptilian aliens and their spaceship looked amazing.

@@daringilmore6470I did say one of them. The 1970S version show was okay, but I however prefer the 1991 version Show & the 2009 Film that was based on the original series in a modern way.

@@daringilmore6470 I said there was a 1991 version of Land of the Lost that had the Sleestacks. “3 of them in a diIncluding the 2009 version Film of Land of the Lost that had Sleestacks in a Creature from the Black Lagoon like appearance.
I am onboard with the whole Yetis and Sleestaks. I just can't get past the flintlock rifle in 2023.
Opening scene looked similar to abominable snowman in his cave scene in Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
