    The magic of the Moody Blues = the combined artistry, mastery & brilliance in song writing and musical performance, voices and harmony of each and every band member; Justin Hayward with his Gibson 335, Mike Pinder and the Melotron, Ray Thomas with his flute, John Lodge on bass, and of course Graeme Edge on drums. The wonder of it all! What a testimony this band has and a real blessing to lovers of music. Thank you Moody Blues!

    I love the Moody Blues. My parents introduced me to them. We saw them in concert 4 times. They are awesome. I was introduced to them when I was 12. I am now 30.

      I can't believe that I've never seen them live. The show in Paris in 70 would've been the best. They were young at their peak and a small venue.

      I agree..he was a true part of The Moodys. But as other bands have had to replace members,they had to do it too. At least Ray was very on board with her being the new member. She is loved by them all.

    The idea of doing an orchestra between songs and have a loosely based concept like that is really powerful, and I don't know of anyone except Yes doing that with the Magnification album but that was not a concept album per se, and I don't really like the orchestrations because they don't really follow the melody. I mean an overture at the beginning, and switching to orchestrations as part of the songs. If I had the money, and talent, and resources I think I would want to do something like that.

  • @stevenjgw9
    @stevenjgw9 12 лет назад +1

    As a long time moodies fan I am surprised to find out that none of the band are trained musicians. I think this makes their musical body of work even more impressive. Their music is structured in such a classical way that they must have had to work with producers and arrangers to create the sound they wanted. This takes nothing away from the achievement of their contribution to popular music for so long.

  • @diddyd8350
    @diddyd8350 5 лет назад

    Do the Moodies intend ever to release a new album of totally new songs, all they seem to do is tour playing all the songs from the past. And what about the Days Of Future Passed Tour, were they going tour the U K with that or was that exclusively for America! Disheartened on that aspect of the boys.

    "Back then" ? THE 'difference' is in composition and execution. Today's 'sound' demonstrates musicians' limitations. "Back then" is of a time of orchestra, opera, and the times . . . where music is the only thing. And struggle.

    Mike Pinder created the Moody Blues.......

    • @vduncan54
      @vduncan54 5 лет назад +1

      The Original Moody Blues,that ran out of steam. Without Justin and John being added when Denny Laine left and the other guy,there would be no Moody Blues. Yes it left a hole when Mike left. They tried to fill it,and it worked for awhile, but that patch didn't hold. Then Ray had to stop playing,as he was dealing with a serious health issue,and they added Norda who does a wonderful job,but Ray had a presence that can't be filled. So wish that they could have done some studio music with Mike. I loved the Mellotron on their original playing of their songs.
