Oh heck yea, that 7 line (how i'm counting it could be wrong) was beautiful and a great transition into the next section

These kinds of odd meters are felt more than intellectualized for me (self-taught, little music theory knowledge)... I guess it's 7/8 7/8 7/8 5/8 4/4 4/4 !

Great articulation, btw. And the harmonies and descending arpeggios at 0:37 gave me stank face. that was good stuff. and of course, the little yay to top it off!

When you’re building parts like these, how do you set up the sections with the weird meters? do you have like periodic time signature changes in the track or just kinda hit record and wherever it falls, it falls

Answer 2! I never purposefully go for odd meters, they're just what felt natural for a particular phrase so the projects stay in 4/4. This ended up something like 7/8 7/8 7/8 5/8 4/4 4/4 but my reference is a steady 4/4 metronome throughout: I don't mind click accents falling in weird places, it's fun (and it's on the 4 here, nothing too distracting) 🙂
