John Goodman's "terrible what passes for a ninja these days" was the best line of the movie.
Don’t you mean nonja?
That's what I've been saying! Hahaha how could he possibly know what passes for a ninja??
I have defended this movie since I first watched it in theaters. It is exactly what it is supposed to be: a live action kids anime. The same feeling that Detective Pikachu would cash in on years later. I unabashedly love this movie.
Then you have poor tastes
@@bauloprete3905 huuurr duuurrr poor taste huuuur duuuur
Agreed
Just saw it yesterday and... Yeah this comment is pretty accurate. It's nonsensical, super over dramatical, extremely over the top, all the racers are ridiculous archetypes, the editing and visual effects are cranked up to 11... And I had the biggest goofiest smile on my face during the whole thing. It was everything I hoped it would be and more
F-Zero + Beyblade is a far funnier and accurate description than I would have ever come up with. Kudos on that line especially.
Not gonna lie it actually got me excited for the idea.
True man, I was watching the video and his comparison made me audibly agree that "yeah, that actually sounds pretty neat!"
I watched this in theatre 3 times and cried every time at the last scene. It was so beautiful in 3D.
You love awfull movies
@@bauloprete3905awfully great movies
Unga bunga terrible móviles unga bunga@@bauloprete3905
“A bob so sharp it should be called a Robert” is poetry.
One of the awesome things about this film is that they managed to make an action movie out of what is basically 95% close up of faces. It's about the acting and the selling of the characters. It's funny because the original show would use that technique to save on money, but doing so they really stumbled upon a compelling, awesome way to tell a story.
The wackoskis know how to tell a story.
@@master-of-mind5881 yeah before they lost their minds this and matrix 1 are goats
@@master-of-mind5881 Whether you like the finished project or not, the Wachowski's always commit 110% to the idea. In an age of cynacism and detached irony I appreciate that.
@@claudiadarling9441 well said ! I'm not a fan of all their films but the ones I love I REALLY love, and I can never criticize them on their lack of investment, even when the stories are bad they remain visually creative with them which is better than a lot of big hollywood names...
so what you are saying is that this movie inspired Oppenheimer
Legitimately one of my favorite movies, that last race still gives me goosebumps
This is legit one of my favorite movies. It's fast, fun, completely ridiculous and over-the-top, and doesn't give a single f*ck if you have a problem with that.
One of my favs too
Same
I'm surprised there's no mention of John Goodman casually beating the hell outta ninjas.
You mean nonjas?
I tried to turn his weight changes in the movie into a drinking game.
I remember more of that night of him buying beers than I did of that game.
Sorrynotsorry, Boss.
Dude, he SUPLEXES a ninja. That makes it, like, a billion percent more awesomer. 😀
(Shameful what passes for a ninja these days.)
Well, he´s John Goodman after all.
@@jasonblalock4429 best part of that was seeing the ninja look at the wrestling ring and just go, "uh-oh" and proceed to have his butt handed to him.
Out of all the live action anime adaptations, I still find this more fun.
Can only agree with you here ❤
This one and Alita are the best
This is actually the most faithful.
Few of the best anime live-action made by Hollywood.
@@imaadshahrukh4829 I feel like adapting anime to live action has always been the Wachowski's true calling.
A lot of thhe Matrix choreography feels straight out of DBZ.
That Tokyo Grift and Racer Twitter line made me laugh way harder than I should've 😂😂
"A Bob so sharp it should be called Robert" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's more cartoon than the cartoon itself. More colorful, more energetic.
That "Racer Twitter" is totally spot on 🤣😂
That Dom Toretto bit was gold.
"A bob so sharp it should be called a robert" 😂😂😂
"with races that feel like watching an earthquake at the hot wheels factory" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 accurate asf
The final race in this movie was so compelling and action packed. A literal acid trip where you got an entire movies worth of exposition in what felt like seconds. It was one of the most hype 3rd acts that I have ever seen. And I still get massive dopamine hits directly to my brain when I watch it. I really loved this movie, and I'm glad that not everyone is hating on it. I guess all the oscar bating is making people long for more simple and fun movies.
Now for me to inspire you to watch it today. The final race where RacerEx stands up... When he starts his engine, the sound of it roaring to life, the challenging of the champion "Teach me something," The first time he goes down the huge drop.
Before that I didn't know car can do phycho crusher.
Let me tell you, this movie is wild on an actual acid trip lol. But at the end, when the night is over and you just want to watch awesome flashing colours.
There's a video of this race that's set to Jet Set Run. I can't really hear the original anymore. I might have to give Speedracer a rewatching anyway.
One of my favorite movies of all time. The final grand prix sequence is outstanding.
They nailed the anime racing bonkers-ness with this movie. It is a blast from start to finish. Love it. Also loved Jupiter Ascending, incidentally.
This made my day. I love this movie so much. Never get tired of it. The very definition of 'earnest.'
Yeah. I love that the Wachowskis so faithfully adapted the source material, warts and all.
Earnest Trailers, then?
For those confused about the Emile Hirsch joke: he physically assaulted a female Paramount executive at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015
No wonder he seems to be blackballed nowadays. Even by indie movie ecosystem.
You sir are amazing.
@@manchesterunitedno7Yeah, I was trying to think of the last thing I saw him and nothing came to mind (since I haven't seen this). Damn shame.
@@MusicoftheDamned He was in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," because Tarantino doesn't care much about women being assaulted.
I always wondered what happened to the Girl Next Door guy
Since the movie 1st came out, i'm always telling my friends to watch it. This movie has a coherent fun tone throughout, and the editing skills are still impressive !
WHERE, HOW DID I MISS THIS, LET ME KNOW PLEASE
I saw it that Alamo Drafthouse a few months ago for the first time. I was little enraged at myself watching it for sleeping on it like I did.
I loved it! The unfortunate thing about its release is that it was eclipsed by the release of Iron Man a week later back in 2008.
Really, and it's funny how much films take from this and Scott Pilgrim despite the fact they were box office flops.
I will never get tired of your Dominic Toretto voice 😁
Still, to this day, one of my favorite films of all time. The final third act race is one of the most HYPE moments I've ever experienced.
I love this movie simply because it is a cartoon. Over the top action, over-dramatic, silly, and a lot of fun. Not everything has to be Citizen Kane.
I've always liked it ever since it came out
but not everything has to be a robert rodriguez kid film, seriously this feels lesss like a wachowskis film and more like a spy kid film
@@motor4X4kombatwhat's wrong with that? 😂
@@motor4X4kombat All you just said sounds like a big win for me
Some are Citizen Kandy Kane
This movie was way more fun than the critics would admit.
@@tonimashdane33498 the film school snobs don't like auteuristic work like this.
The David Zaslav joke is gold
You ever race a stranger in the Alps?
Okay, that one really got me.
I saw this movie when it first dropped for home and thought my TV was going to explode. I didn't get it and didn't want to get it, but my kid loved it, so I ended up seeing it 1000x. After the 3rd time, it started to click and I "got it". I got what it was about. I got how the Wachowski's weren't trying to hide their greenscreen/CGI but embrace it and break the 4th wall with it. I got Susan Surrandon's speech at the end and how not all "art" is a drawing on the page or paper on the wall. Good stuff.
This is one of the best movies ever made. This is art.
One of the finest movies ever!
Great Honest Trailer!
💞
3:00 Trevor : IT'S BRAD! GGGGRRRRRAAAAWWWRRR!!!
In memory of Bob Barker, say "Now, Rod, what are the products for today?"
This was a Hot Wheels movie with a plot, and I loved it.
"Racer Twitter" - genius.
The Christina Ricci hair joke was perfect and almost caused a spit-take
one of the most underrated movies ever.
Glad to see this movie getting more love nowadays. Definitely didn’t deserve to bomb at the box office.
Also is probably the best Japanese anime/manga adaptation alongside Alita and Edge Of Tomorrow.
I know right. It was so funny in some places and him jumping out of the car at the end for that classic cartoon pose...😂😂
@@DaNinja60 Yeah, it really captured the anime vibes
Hopefully One Piece will join them.
@@anthonyrousseau8050Don’t get your hopes up.
@@anthonyrousseau8050 I'm excited.
This was such a amazing adaptation. So faithfull. Such great artistic choices
This is one of the most visually astonishing movies I've ever seen - I couldn't believe box office bomb it became. It deserved so much better.
I love this movie :) and props to Michael Giacchino for the score. If you were expecting "Rush" you probably didn't watch the cartoons.
Yeah, definitely loved the score
In my opinion, this is his most underrated soundtrack (when people thinking of Giacchino best soundtrack, it would be 2009-2016 Star Trek movies or Pixar's movies or The Batman but in my opinion this is one of his best if not the best)
Giacchino is the GOAT
Not a lot of people watched that cartoon , hell not a lot of people even heard of it before the film. That’s like shaming someone for not knowing the 183rd decimal of PI
@@gabrielleroux2333 It's "flurg".
"in a bob so sharp, it should be called a Robert"😂🤣classic!
3:48
...oh snap that's actually a good idea.
an F-Zero movie does sound interesting if they can get it right.
Honestly one of my childhood favorites and perhaps unintentionally a fun live action anime adaptation before they became mainstream.
BEST live action anime adaptation period🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Right up there with “Guyver: Dark Hero.”
The only thing that could be considered bad about this movie is how faithful it was to the cartoon
The only thing that is bad about this movie is that it doesn't have sequel
Dude, your Chimp Diesel epic voice is f'ing hilarious... spot-on!! 😂😂
“A bob so sharp it should have been called a Robert”. 👏
5:25 David Zaslav LOL. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
On my phone it came out 8 minutes ago. I'm still crying from laughing so hard. This had to be one of my favorite movies.
" a bob so sharp, it should be called Robert", that line killed me XD
This movie wasn't just my favourite movie of 2008 over Iron Man or The Dark Knight, *it's my all time favourite movie!!!*
Did you eat a lot of pixy sticks growing up?
@@Praisethesunson
LOL XD! 😂
Hello yeahh. 💯
This my favorite movie. It makes you feel like your watching/reading a manga
Thank you for including the 'He's going over that cliff! AAUGHH!' clip!
Earthquake at the Hotwheels factory is a good way of describing this movie.
Like almost every Wachowskis movie, this one was about a decade ahead of its time.
Imagine wachowskis adapted live action system shock or atomic heart
The sfx seem to be a decade too late though 😅 although I'm not one to judge a movie by its FX, and I might look into it one day. (Love Cloud Atlas and the Matrix films, even the last one which was actually very timely for once 😋)
Definitely one of my favorite anime adaptations out there.
You outdid yourself here with this quote, "With a bob so sharp, it should be called a Robert"
A bob so sharp it should be called a Robert is pretty damn good.
Can we please get an honest trailer for “Barbenheimer”?
Pretty certain they will once they are out. I think both are still in theaters.
I loved this movie so much when I was younger I had it on repeat everyday.
I also watched it several times back in the day
I use to babysit and the kids would have this on repeat. It surprisingly wasn’t all that annoying though 😅
That Nope transition hit a lot harder than it should have
4:20-4:45 has instantly made this one of my favourite honest trailers!
The movie that proved that direct adaptation of anime can somehow work and not work at the same time
YAAASSS FINALLY! This movie was so ahead of it's time! So much fun!
I saw this sitting in between two friends with black belts in martial arts. The ninja fight scene was some of the best dumb fun we ever had together. This movie is a live action anime. It's kinda bad, but again, so, so fun.
"Racer Twitter" … hilarious!
One of my favorites! Love this movie so much!
I guess if you think about it, whatever the Wachowskis dished out was bound to be meme worthy
it'a crazy that i never noticed how much green screen was in this movie when i was a kid, but now i can't unsee it
Say "A curious bird is a pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can."
SAY WITH YOUR EPIC VOICE: You're not a weapon, you're a person.
I still remember watching the original show on MTV of all places. Clearly they knew what they were doing.
I think I remember seeing a 90's reboot in syndication on my local Fox network, bust the classic on either Cartoon Network, WGN or at the state museum with classic Mighty Mouse shorts.
One of the best Honest Trailers to date.
This is my favourite movie of all time, absolutely loved it since I was a youngling and still love it today! Seeing that there’s others that also love it makes me so unbelievably happy 😊😊
This movie is actually one of my secret guilty pleasures lol.
Hell yes it is. May not be the best but it is certainly one of the most fun for the races alone
I know it can look ridiculous and the CGI is iffy but the editing and emotion during the final race with the motivational monologues from his family is still a hell of a great scene.
I am glad you guys finally made this honest trailer
This film was so vivid and colourful.
In no way shoukd this movie be good but somehow they did it its so much fun i love it
One of the few movies I gave a standing ovation at the theatre. There was maybe 20 people in the audience (box office bust) but was everyone *got* the film. One of the best theatre experiences i ever had.
I fucking grew up in this movie and I still watch it to this very day. They finally made the honest trailer and I love it!
this was our first Into The Spider-Verse. every frame a work of art
Race-ists 🤣🤣🤣 2:28
For the late Bray Wyatt, can you say "He's got the whooooole world in his hands."
You beat me to it.
“Raves worth of molly” 😂
This is genuinely the film I most regret not having seen in theaters when it was originally released. A+ work on this trailer too, guys! (I nearly passed out from being unable to breathe while laughing at "Racer Twitter!")
RIP Richard Roundtree
Honestly this movie was so ahead of it’s time, I feel if this came out now people would absolutely love it
Bro I’d watch this on repeat back In the day
Way ahead of its time for sure
This film showcases some of my best racing
I saw it in the cinema and have loved it ever since. Legit one of my favourite movies.
This movie shamefully anime
@@USSAnimeNCC-it's BASED on anime. If anything, I give props for respecting the source material.
I've really been wanting to rewatch this lately. Time to find it streaming somewhere.
The final race scene is something I still look for on RUclips to rewatch.😊
This movie is amazing and way ahead of it's time. It needs sequels.
I’ve been waiting for this for years!!!
“A bob so sharp it should be called Richard” is the best line ever produced on this channel
I can’t believe this didn’t happen already I loved SR when it came out and it made other racing movies less exciting the fast series quickly added to that list regrettably.
This movie is such an underrated masterpiece that only tanked because it was completely misunderstood by critics.
5:02 yooooo I don't know why, but I think about that incident like once a month. He disappeared after that.
This is actually one of my favorite movies. The lows don't remove the highs. It is hilariously wacky and I love the race sequences.
Finally! I've been wanting to see this trailer. This is my favorite live action adaptation of all time!
Now do Liam Neeson’s “Retribution”.
