Hi Nigel, Eric from the US purchased a 1:144 scale Appllo Saturn V Rocket model kit by Revell and stumbled onto your channel and your play list on the same kit and I must say I love your videos and by the first couple I knew they were going to be a great help in my build never built a lot of model's in my younger days but I do have what you called a bunch of life practical experience which helps me understand most of what you apply in your content but not being a seasoned modeler like yourself your video's are priceless and will help me tremendously in my up coming Apollo build thank you for making the time to share your love of modeling I will be returning frequently to watch more of what you have to offer Thank You again and take care. Oh by the way even three years later I was able to pick the kit up on sale at a locale Hobby lobby for $22.72 dollers out the door so have a bit of extra money for other item's I'll be needing 😃

Hey Nigel, Built the 1/96 scale in 1969, Christmas gift. Went to see the Apollo16 launch in 1972. will never forget the FEEL of that moment. Have to get my 25th Anniversary 96th kit out.

Thank you for this series! I'm a novice with modeling and have a couple of these kits I want to build and customize into an illuminated launch lamp. This series is incredibly helpful, so thank you! If you're still interested in learning more about rocketry and the actual mechanics that go into it, check out Kerbal Space Program. It's a video game and college course in orbital mechanics all rolled into one. It's an awesome tool and a fun game at the same time. I've learned so much from it and it's awesome to be able to be hands on with it.

I've just picked up the 50th Anniversary version for the sum of £22 at a car boot sale. I see what you mean regarding the amount of flash. Enjoying the build though.
Thanks for taking the time to do these vids. They are a real life saver for poor model builders like me. 😀

Can’t wait to see this one Nigel...been thinking about doing one of these for a while. I built the revell 1/72 scale space shuttle a couple of years ago and adding all of the extra detail left out on the kit made it one of the funnest builds I’ve done.

I'm ashamed to admit this was the only kit I lost all patience with and ended up consigning it to the bin. I look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

Hi Nigel...look forward to following this build. This review inspired me, so much so, that I ordered the kit from Jadlam Racing last night!

@@NigelsModellingBench interestingly it seems to be a North American Revell/Monogram boxing from 1994 with completely different instructions and a different decal sheet. Wish me luck. 😀

I'm old enough not only to remember this and it's Airfix cousin but the Mercury and Gemini capsules too. Shame they haven't reissued those..
Never bought the Saturns but might be tempted this time.

If you ever get the 1/72 version there is a 1/72 model of the Mercury capsule with either it's Redstone or Atlas boosters available from Horizon Models. Would make an interesting contrast. Brave men all of them. I'm in awe of the bravery of the current crop of space farers as well.

I’ve got 2 of the Estes kits. I need to build one of them. I remember praying in class for the crew when I was 10 or so.
