Lovely analysis As they say, every system is model agnostic of you’re brave enough. And there is a system for everyone out there. I personally want to write my own set of rules just for Warlord and Kalistra ACW.
Looking forward to try different rules for battles, quick games I will use Donald Featherstone horse and musket from wargames, got the black powder and the supplement and will get fire and fury to try,l also want to try bullrun to gettysburg rules by David Bickley as they fit the warlord sizes well,a good set and well worth picking up,four regiments done in warlords, just waiting for the box, hope we don't have to wait months for cavalry, zoaves and limbers.
Watched this again as it is an interesting video, well thought out and presented. I still cannot make my mind up about a ruleset, obviously warlord will push BP, but without some real changes for scale and units , unless you are blessed with a Perry Bros set up or playing at a club with a big table, these seem to be a no no. The Peter Pig rules will work with a bit of tweaking for the units, but this is mainly as they were aimed at a "divisional " game anyway, which also applies to Principles of War (Mike Areno tgger batter and again the base frontage matches the ry cavalier Books, but these are quite common on eBay) Fire and Fury will work at a pinch, but the rigid 60mm base size is an issue, so again tweaking. The Polemos rules by Baccus are a ready fit with frontages being the same, my only quibble is that I really do not like the rules themselves (just my opinion) I like the idea of using the Altar of Freedom rules for the bigger battles and again the base size matches the rules frontages, in this case I really like the ruleset. For the smaller games (regimental) I am waiting to try Pickets Charge which has good reviews but I cannot say yes or no yet. My choice is probably going to be A Union So Tested, a nice no frills game by Buck Surdu, it straches my ACW itch but maybe a little marmite like in the wider community. Now it is just waiting on release, supposedly this weekend....
Mine hasn't arrived yet. I have Picketts charged lined up, I like the use of ADCs in the game. Now the weather is getting better, I will have chance for more games.
I liked.what I saw with Alter of Freedom from little wars TV, and they did do Antietam. I bought Age of Hannibal, after they used them (and I love Fantasy Rules!, rule set from chipco)
I am still deciding where to lay my hat. Have you played with John Hill’s Across A Deadly Field (Osprey Publishing)? I was wondering how it stacked up against Fire & Fury, Pickett’s Charge, Civil War Battles (RFCM/Peter Pig), and Black Powder: Glory Hallelujah!
I havnt played that set of rules. With my 1/2 bases and a.wee bit of fudging I can generally do.most rule sets. Of course though I play with a small group of players who think alike. Rather than a larger club or go to.tournaments.
Hey there, no warlord cavalry just yet. Though I have been quiet as I worked through rebasing and finishing my Kallistra Union force. Expect a video or several this week as I get back on the horse.
I like Rally Round the Flag. Been playing those rules since 1979

Nice video! I will use my Warlord epic battles miniatures with the rule set Altar of Freedom. Highly recommmended!

AoF are excellent - we reviewed them on Meeples and miniatures. Really clever activation system.
Great effort. Looking forward to more.
Love your blackpowder vids as they are very well explained.
Just the vid I was looking for :)
Grand,
Some beautiful units here!
I am planning on doing a comination of these rules as you say and see if I can get elements to work together. Have you tried yet?
Not yet. I am going to get a couple of decent sized forces finished, then start tinkering.
@@Unclecthulu Do let me know if I can help once you have?
