Yes...the puppy and I survived the gag, the wife thought I spilled a cup of yogurt! That's only the second time I have forgotten to put the Vaseline on the mold before pouring the second half. The last time it was a simple lip-less crank so I was able to treat it as a one part mold and just cut it partially in half. This mold had too many critical parts so it was a fire drill to scoop out all the half-set silicon and hustling to wipe it all out and cleaning off all the parts and details. There was no guaranty that it was going to work...so I was nervous opening it. Any one out there have a different system to avoid the issue?
That's funny, when I owned xzone , I made a huge soft plastic mess, looked like puke, my boys planted it on the kitchen floor , kids filmed my wife freaking out , reminded me of you're prank 😂
Really cool and informative, I started a soft bait company years ago and sold it, wanna start the hard swim and glide baits now , love the creative part
@@EngineeredAngler Yes I definetly will, plan to semi retire, be a fun hobby/sideline , used to do fish re creations so I'm knowledgeable in the mold process, guys like you inspire me , love creativity 🙏cheers look forward to more , great little shop you have
Hahaha 😂. Great lure making video and good prank. Hope u survived, brah. G can tell stories just by reactions and moving eyes, therefore best of luck. Looking forward to the next video Frank’O’!!! Always great to view your creativity, and be a part of your thinking out-side the box.
Awesome! Here in Brazil the popular nickname for Francisco (which is a saint's name, but you should already aware of it since the pope chose it too) is Chico, if you never knew about it Thanks for sharing this, I'm really impressed on how you can calculate the volume so perfectly!
Hey EA, when you did the the harness to hold the weight, was the harness going through the weight? Or did you bend the harness so that the weights sat in the middle of the bait ?
Good morning, how do you like them lithium batteries. I'm thinking of buying a pair for my trolling motor. Also, do you have a discount code from them batteries
The long pins you seen in the mold don't become part of the final lure. They're just there to hold the hinge plates in place so I can cast the lure around the hinge plates. The hinge pins are only about 3/4 inch long and are installed after the paint and first clear coat goes on and before the final clear coat. Thank you for watching.
Engineered Angler you wouldn’t have the brand name or place to purchase off hand would you? The clay I got recently is WAY too tough to work with. Takes so much effort to change its shape. Needing help!! Haha!
Great video once again! Definitely the best on you tube. I wonder if the hinge is as strong as the screw eye method? I built a lure like this with 5 joints out of a plastic material from hardware store. I forget the name but is white 3/4" thick with a wood grain on one side used for finishing around doors and windows. Takes a lot of weight to sink it. I caught a small pike on my 3rd cast then accidentally engaged the reel mid flight of the 4th cast and it sunk to the bottom after snapping the line. It felt worse than loosing a big fish! Lol. Would like to get into the hole molding process and love all the hard work and detail you put into each video. Thank you from Ontario Canada.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience. I did the exact same thing with a swimbait that just the day before I had caught my PB bass on. I put a giant magnet in a landing net and dragged it on the bottom for a long while...I got my lure back!
You can 3d print molds but, the huge benefit to using a flexible material is that you can deform the mold to allow parts to be de-molded. Otherwise only the simplest of shapes could be molded, if you use a rigid material for the mold that is. The other benefit to silicon is that nearly nothing will stick to it so your parts come out easily.

My method is to always put the jar of Vaseline on top of my mold until I pour the silicon that way I don’t miss it.
Brilliant! No thy self and take precautions. Thanks for sharing.

I really liked the result of the video... I learned a lot how to make this kind of lure. Thanks a lot.
Glad to hear that
Great video. Excellent!! Hope you survived the “incident”!!!!
A real piece of Engineering put into action!.... Finally!
Thank you...

Go for it!

Super cool man! Thank you sir for sharing your love. 💯
Good idea with the solder for the vents and the foil for the fins thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing! Been wanting to do this for a long time. Kinda knew how. Just lacked the inspiration.
Great work my friend!
Thanks
Very informative videos. Helping my bait making immensely.
Glad to hear it! Thanks.

Thank you Bro...glad you find it interesting and entertaining enough to watch...stay safe.
Lovin it... can’t wait to see it in action!....if you survive!😂
Can you discuss any the basic differences in design from making a three part lure as to a two part lure?
The design only changes in weight and balance. You have a bit more options on how you balance the lure.
Awesome! Here in Brazil the popular nickname for Francisco (which is a saint's name, but you should already aware of it since the pope chose it too) is Chico, if you never knew about it

I grew up in a mostly Italian neighborhood in New Jersey and all the old Italians called me Chico.
Great! Tnx for the information 💪🏻
No problem! Thanks for watching.
Engineered Angler 👍🏻👍🏻
That is so funny ( You ready you're getting blamed )
Just like grandpa use to say, “A little lubrication goes a long way...”
Hey EA, when you did the the harness to hold the weight, was the harness going through the weight? Or did you bend the harness so that the weights sat in the middle of the bait ?
The weights I use are round split shot. I crimp them on to the wire harness where I believe they need to be.
@@EngineeredAngler awesome. Thanks EA. Great video!
What resin or material do you use for your actually baits? I may have missed it but trying to make sure
I explain the casting material and mixing, in several videos...I think if you watch part three in this series you'll find the info.
Can you please elaborate on why you switched the rod to aluminum I just ordered a bunch of the fiberglass?
I ran out of fiberglass
Good morning, how do you like them lithium batteries. I'm thinking of buying a pair for my trolling motor. Also, do you have a discount code from them batteries
I'm posting a video on the batteries this Friday with a discount code...also you can use it on top of the black Friday discounts.
Good 2 part video. How do you secure the pins, did I miss that. Why make them so long?
The long pins you seen in the mold don't become part of the final lure. They're just there to hold the hinge plates in place so I can cast the lure around the hinge plates. The hinge pins are only about 3/4 inch long and are installed after the paint and first clear coat goes on and before the final clear coat. Thank you for watching.
What kind of clay do you use to make the first side of the mold?
I use the inexpensive children's molding clay. But if you are using platinum silicon instead of tin silicon you should use sulfur free clay.
Engineered Angler you wouldn’t have the brand name or place to purchase off hand would you? The clay I got recently is WAY too tough to work with. Takes so much effort to change its shape. Needing help!! Haha!
I got it at the kid's craft section of Walmart...I think. You can put it in a sealed bag and soak it in hot water...that should soften it.
Engineered Angler thank you so much! I know it’s repetitive I’m sure, but that really helps a lot!

Cool, did u test it out at a lake
So did you ever get the weedless swimbait to work? I’ve working on my ideas for a weedless glidebait for the heavy cover around these Florida waters.
Yes I have...
hey great info, what episode do you describe how to calculate the density of the material being used for the lure ?
Go to this playlist and at the beginning of each of the lure design/builds I go through the process...

awesome cheers
Very nice looks the goods 👌 hope pooche doesn't get into to much trouble 😁 PS is Vaseline your go-to mould release? Ever use the spray on stuff?
It's my go to for the molds because I can put it on the silicon only and not get it on the lure body. The mold release spray can create a texture.
Hello sir can u plz explain how to weight a wooden body lure for ex what if i want to make a 40 gm of lure plz explain sir
I'll do a short video soon....
Could you 3D print the mold out of sla??

Engineered Angler thank you! You do so much to help people like me working to make my first mold
I hope you filmed the reaction
No way. That would have gotten me in real hot water.
Where is part 1?
The video before this one...
I sent you some molding stuff on instagram
I don't see it...
