I put this exact unit in my R32 Mk4 a couple years back. 100% best and easiest mod I ever did for the price. Recommend no question.
If I didn't have the factory navigation stereo in my R32, I'd definitely be putting one of these in it as well!!
Just got this unit to replace the aftermarket JVC that came in my mk4 golf project car. Trying to make her look as original as possible but functional for now too. This'll help with installing, thanks!
Happy to help!
I just installed this in my 2008 VW Polo 9n3! Easiest job I've ever done, Plug and Play! No joke i reccomend this over EVERY single of these shitty android radios. Fits with the design of the car (!) and works like an OEM Radio (Quality plastic, perfect fit, no issues when ignition is turned on, seemles bluetooth pairing).
Did you need the adapter?
And another question, do you live in the US or in Europe? Because I got a 2008 polo 9n3 and it's the Italian model so it could have a different stock radio than the American model
@@jdshorts3649he obviously doesn't live in the USA, as VW Polos don't exist there. This radio fits European Polo 9n3 straight out of the box. 👍
How is it holding up after around a year? I am a little skeptic of this radio because I heard the quality is not good. Would you choose it over a pioneer stereo? The oem look is the only reason I am considering the rcn210.
No issues to report after a year. I'm sure that a Pioneer has a wider degree of adjustability in terms of the EQ and some other settings, but I've been very pleased with the OEM look and seamless integration with the car. Sounds great, works well with both the Monsoon system in the later cars as well as the early speaker systems. Wish they made a single DIN version with green illumination, I'd throw that in my Corrado!
Anyone have a link for the adapter?
Great video and I was able to easily install the radio in my 2003 20th Anniversary GTI!
Thank you!🙏🏾🎊😎
Glad to help!
Pretty straight forward to put in but getting the bastard thing out is a different story well at least for me.. Put the removal keys in and nothing happens. I can't use my obd reader with this radio plugged in :/
That's an odd issue to have. I've got this in two of our Mk4s and we have no issue using either VCDS or Bluedriver to read codes and perform OBD port related services. Agreed that the retaining pins in this are more difficult to manipulate compared to the factory ones, but pushing the keys outward away from the center of the unit seems to do the trick to push the release tabs in, and gives a little purchase for pulling the unit out.
I have the same radio as you do I need any special adapters to make it work?
Yes, there is a dongle that comes with the radio that allows it to work correctly with US spec cars, different dongle depending on early versus late Mk4.
My antenna port has a different piece on it does it come out?
There are adapters you can snap on for different antenna connectors, available on Amazon.
Do the steering wheel controls work with this radio? I have the factory steering wheel controls but if I can’t find a radio that will work with them then I may just get a 3 spoke wheel.
No they don’t unfortunately
I see you paired the iPhone. Can I pair with this radio other phone with android like Samsung? I want to listen music via bluetooth.
Yes, it pairs with Android as well. After too many dissatisfying experiences with Android phone updates bricking my phones and making them useless, I switched to Apple, and other than having to use an Android tablet for work occasionally, I can't say what the user experience is like for one of those with this head unit. But it's a pretty straight forward interface, just pairs the audio. Nothing fancy.
Nice dude!
Thanks!
Hello, I have this radio and works perfectly. Please, can I change the vw tel number? I need my own contact for dialing. Thanks
I’ve got this radio and has worked well, but I’ve upgraded to an iPhone 13 and now unable to pair which is disappointing. Has anyone else got this issue with newer iPhones?
Had a similar issue after I upgraded to a newer iPhone. Turns out I needed to go into my new phone's settings and rename it. It had the same name as the old iPhone and that caused confusion in the Bluetooth recognition. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and rename it. Then go back to the Bluetooth settings on the phone and headunit and pair them again.

I just picked one up for my 99.5 Jetta with the base stereo.
Everything I've seen so far says I don't need the adapter, but I guess I'll find out as I now have conflicting information.
Did you find out?
Bump
@@cillian.murphy
Plug and play in my 99.5,with the adapter that was supplied , combined with some infinity speakers it blows any monsoon out of the water.
Do the factory steering wheel controls still work?
None of my Mk4's have steering wheel controls, so I can't answer that. Would love to know myself out of curiosity!
@@CliffjumperCars bummer. Thanks for the response. Let me know if you ever do find out! That’s important for me in order for me to make the purchase.
I can confirm the controls on the wheel don’t work
I have a 2002 vw golf, does it take the large or small connctor?
Varies not only by year but also by trim package. Pop it out to see which one you have, and make sure to specify which year/model/trim level you have when you order the radio so you get the right wiring adapter.
english: Hello "arsenal8686"; I would like to buy the RCN210. I drive a VW Golf 4, year 2002. What adapters do I need for the RCN210 on my old radio-cd unit; it has 2 modules: 1 is the radio & cassette deck; 2 is the CD drive. Where can I find the adapters? Thank you and greetings Richard
Anyone have the issue of an aftermarket stereo not turning off when the ignition is off
That usually means you're not using the correct plug & play harness adapter.
Do these fit the 2002 mk4 bora / jetta?
They do. You have to get the adapter that is specific to your particular trim level. There are a few different stereos that came in these cars, and even though the plugs are all the same, the wiring is different.
Do you have a link? Thanks for replying btw
Alguien sabe por qué ami no me da el código para conectarme al bloutooth?
What if it not work at all only thing what works ob my one is rádio and aux 😁 so i still need to use aux bt
Hey where can I purchase the newer version radio pig tail harness? I bought the radio and it came with the older pig tail. Thanks.
www.amazon.com/Multifunction-Steering-Control-Simulator-Adapter/dp/B0828FVGG4/ref=sr_1_3?crid=35IYBGAFYTJE2&keywords=rcn210+radio+adapter&qid=1645404035&sprefix=rcn210%2Caps%2C447&sr=8-3
Hope that helps! If you got yours from the Amazon seller I recommend, you can try reaching out to them directly and ask for the correct adapter. They should be willing to swap it for the incorrect one.
Does the radio have subwoofer connections?
No, it only has factory type connectors. You'd need to run an adapter pigtail or splice into the existing wiring to get sources for subs.
The link is no good for harness and their store link is no longer on Amazon. So any ideas where I can get big adapter, cuz I too have a 2003 vw Jetta
Here's a more recent link: amzn.to/3T92ax6
They say in their listing they can provide the adapter you need. Just have to message them.
I plugged in the car radio, everything works but the buttons don't light up
Are you positive that you have the correct adapter harness for your particular model? just because it plugs in does not mean it is the correct one… They all use the same ISO connectors. The specific wiring matter.
how to connect to light up the button with 12 v
Do you know what adapter I need for a 2006 polo 9n3, rcd200 original radio
My recommendation would be reach out directly to the vendor you buy the unit from and ask them to supply the specific adapter for your application. Even between different years of the same model of vehicle, it can be a different one.
I would love to find a drivers door panel for my mkiv golf gti
There are a few Mk4 classifieds groups on Facebook where you can find individual used parts like that, if you don't have an auto recycling yard like LKQ Pick Your Part near you to find one there.
Im just bought this radio, bluetooth not working, buttons are not light up and my front speakers on the left and right isnt working, only rear speakers work. Any ideas?
Okay, im stupid! Forget to attach the included harness from the box. Now my bt and lights works fine. Only my front speakers are not working :/
@@teddy_snow8031 I was just about to ask if you used the correct harness. There is one that comes in the box, but it's not necessarily the correct one for your specific year/model. 99-02 harness is different from 03-05, and it varies depending on whether it's Monsoon system or not as well . You have to request the harness specific to your car from the seller. I'd recommend reaching out to them - they're pretty fast at responding!
How much but i am interest too bay this radio for my mk4 well did you send my coutry i am from republic of kosovo
I don't sell the radio. I did post an amazon link to the radio in the video description, and I know you can buy it on Ebay too. Best of luck!
What’s the link to the pigtail dongle, or is there a store I can get it from?
Best thing to do is to reach out to the supplier you got the radio from, tell them specifically your year/model and they can get you hooked up with the right one. There are a few very similar pigtail harnesses that will all allow the radio to power on, but if it's not the specific one for your particular car, various functions won't work.
@@CliffjumperCars Oh so the supplier provided you with the harness? Ok thank you, I have the single din from the later year models so it shouldn't be too hard to source
@@jphallows1664 Correct. When I ordered it, I put in the notes which stereo version I had for each car - I have three Mk4's, each a different year with a different radio, so they each needed a different harness.
@@CliffjumperCars How did you determine the exact model of your radio? Because mine is a single din and has a CD slot where most have the casset slot, and its hard determining my radio model
@@jphallows1664 You have to remove the radio and look at the part# on the sticker it has on the back of it.
What about subs how do I get subs connected to it
It’s a factory replacement using factory style wiring, so to add a sub you’d need to tap into the wiring somewhere and run it to a separate amp with a crossover. I tapped into the wiring back at the factory amp and got signal there for my sub.
When I click Phone to pair bluetooth it says “no keys” what do I do?
That generally means you have the incorrect adapter harness.
Not sure if anyone will see thos but would appreciate the help, cant get the bluetooth to work on it keeps saying "key off". Anyone ran into this problem?
Installed on a 2005 B5 passat
If it's saying "key off" then it's got the wrong adapter connected. There's a specific harness adapter for your car that gets rid of this issue. Best to reach out to the supplier you purchased from and let them know you have a 2005 B5 and get them to send you the correct adapter.
Hola, a mi también me pasó eso pero el problema es que tiene que estar el carro prendido o el switch de la marcha en posicion on
I bought it, exchanged it once and returned it again. The Bluetooth kept failing
Bummer!! We've had these in two of our Mk4s now for a couple years with no issues.
Is this radio apple play / android auto capable ?
It only has a pixel screen, not a full color touch display, so no - no Apple Play or Android Auto. Just Bluetooth connectivity and basic controls for phone & media usage.
@@CliffjumperCars Thanks, I'm learning.
How sounds this radio?
Sounds pretty nice. The stock speakers can still do to be upgraded, but I'm pretty happy with it.
Yes is pretty nice the audio I already have, but now I have a problem I can’t use phone button, it says: key off
@@miguelalejandroqg5469 That happens when you plug it in without the pigtail adapter harness.
@@CliffjumperCars is connected but I think could be the adapter, I’ll try disconnecting and connecting again
I check the pigtail adapter, one yellow cable was out, that was the issue, I fixed the connector, is a low quality adapter, but I reforced it.
Good informative video, I just wish you cut to the chase of installing it.... the first 6 minutes were you blabbering on needlessly.
It's a particular flavor of channel. Not everyone's flavor. I get that there are plenty of DIY videos where it's just the bare nuts and bolts. That's not really what I do here... it's as much about the journey as it is the destination.
Ingrate - next time figure it out for yourself. Dude is trying to help people. What have you contributed? My guess is nothing.
