    I and my wife of 40 years , was born and lived in Florida most of our life’s. We have been in northeast Indiana for 20 years. Love it. And love northern Michigan. Especially Upper Michigan. The 4 seasons is what we love best. And cutting grass in July, while not breaking a sweat is awesome. We find that 99° and 100% humidity just isn’t doable anymore, for 11 months a year. Our thing now is Overlanding out west. Love the Mountains.

    I found your channel a few months ago and enjoy your videos. I was going back to your older videos and found this one. One of my Uncles and 2 of my cousins live in the Petoskey area. So it was fun to see a area I have visited many times. I am lived in Michigan when I was a kid. I had no idea what a Petoskey stone was, I had to google it in the middle of the video. When I saw the picture I recognized the stones. I just didn't know the name. I learn a lot watching RV videos. Thanks.

    The problem with being a tourist is that you tend to hit the spots recommended in the tour guide books. It means missing many places known and beloved only by the locals. Petoskey and Harbor Springs are what I call "stage set towns", no more representative of Michigan than Disney's "Main Street" is of Florida. You needed a local guide to send you to Sturgeon Bay or the Cross Village beach. While you are in "Da U.P." don't miss the Pictured Rocks and waterfalls of Munising.

    Great video, but it looks like you missed out on alot of good history. My grandfather was chief Roland Petoskey, he was the great great grandson of Chief Ignatious Petoskey for whom the town is named after. There is a statue of Ignatious standing on the east side of 131 overlooking the bay. Petoskey is known for having some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. The name Petoskey is actually a English approximation of the Odawa Word Bidaasiga which means Rays of the living sun. I could go on and on about the history of the little traverse bay area but i wont lol. Just thought you guys would appreciate to know a little bit more about the town you just called home for a couple days. Enjoy the U.P. and safe travels friends.

  • @toddramsay977
    @toddramsay977 5 лет назад +1

    Us northeners adapt to the weather like that. The is good snow plowing on the roads so we can move around etc. You call us nutty but we survive. I could say the same for y'all in FL to live in that heat and humidity most of the year, and have to deal with hurricanes. No thanks. It boils fown to the same thing, as people, we live in the climate we are used to. Some move to climate they like better. Maybe you would like something in between like my hometown of Louisville, KY. We get snow but maybe 6" to a ft at a time. It melts, repeat. It gets humid here in the summer and up to the upper 90's to over a 100 in some years. So we have both worlds, we like the 4 seasonal change vs. Staying 2 season extreme then just mild in both MI anf FL. One cold, one hot as hell. Tgat is why I love to travel. I don't have to be uncomfortable

    I visited Petosky back in the late '60s. It was nice then and looks like it's even better now. How did you not laugh in their face when they told you how much they wanted for those stones?

    Perfect timing, we’re leaving next Tuesday from Dallas to the Mackinac Bridge area. We’re actually going to be with 1500+ Mini Coopers to set a record of cars on the Mackinac Bridge August 3. As always enjoy your videos and got a few more ideas. I’m looking forward to your upper peninsula videos, we will come from I hope a record-setting through the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin on the way back to Texas.

    I love how you Americans aee always affected by the rain. In England, if you don't go out in the rain you probably don't go out so you carry on as normal. Obviously, if it's a torrential downpour then that's different. It's only water. ☺😚

    The west coast of Michigan has what is called lake effect snow that dumps tons of sonow all winter but it also keeps the temperature down too compaired to places like Minnesota. Don’t know if you watch A Stream in Life on RUclips but they are also traveling up the coast of Michigan and the UP. I found those stone when I was a kid but never knew the name Petoskey before now, thanks
